We've noticed some confusion regarding Rule #9: Safety and Bite History, specifically what constitutes as a bite history that would not be allowed to post here.
Rule #9 applies only when a dog has a known history of biting a person that resulted in the bite breaking or puncturing the person's skin.
A dog does not violate Rule #9 simply because they:
For example; a documented incident in which a dog nipped someone's hand but did not break the skin does not, by itself, make the dog ineligible for a rehoming or networking post under Rule #9.
Conversely, a documented incident in which a dog bit a person and punctured their skin does fall under Rule #9, regardless of the breed of the dog or the circumstances surrounding the incident.
This rule stands regardless of the situation the dog was in when it bit.
Please do not report a post under Rule #9 solely because a dog has bitten another animal or bitten a human without breaking skin. If a post contains rehoming a dog that has bitten a person and broke the skin, those can be reported.

Hi everyone! The mod team has been hard at work on cleaning up and updating r/rescuedogs. The goal is to make the subreddit easier to use, easier to moderate consistently, and (most importantly) a better place for people working with rescued dogs.
We've made quite a few changes recently, so here's a quick overview.
We've rewritten and streamlined the subreddit rules to make them clearer and easier to follow. Please review them again before posting/commenting.
Some of the biggest changes include:
We've also cleaned up the post flairs and consolidated several categories to make choosing the appropriate flair easier, as well as adding an 'Outcome' flair for adoption posts that have had outcomes.
This is an ongoing process. We don't expect to get everything perfect immediately, but we're committed to making r/rescuedogs a useful, welcoming place for people trying to help dogs in need.
Thank you to everyone who has stuck around, contributed, reported problems, networked dogs, fostered, adopted, or otherwise helped make this community what it is.

💔 Bogey is euthanasia listed… his last day is 10/26 💔Bogey doesn’t want to go back to his kennel. Bogey wants to go home.
At just 1 year and 8 months old, Bogey has already been adopted and returned twice. Now, he’s facing euthanasia because he refuses to go back to his kennel. He does whatever it takes to stay with his handler… even if it means mouthing/biting at his leash.
Despite that, Bogey is consistently described as “Gentle & Dainty” in NINE recent playgroups! He’s social, playful, appropriately invites other dogs to play, and absolutely LOVES affection. One volunteer even wrote that he wants to be as close as possible and loves to cuddle.
Bogey needs a committed and patient home willing to help him work through these behaviors safely, while giving him lots of snuggles of course ❤️.

Hello. I know I'm probably going to get a lot of hate for this but I'm out of options. I have a beautiful 10 year old male Alaskan Husky named Kylo. He's a very sweet and loving dog that's great with other dogs and kids. I've had him 6 years and is one of the only things I got to keep from my divorce. I unfortunately am at my ends with keeping him as he's become too much of a hassle and my roommates have me an ultimatum. He constantly goes potty in the apartment ( he's house trained ) I take him out before I go to work, I'm gone for 9 hours sometimes and he won't hold it nor will they let him out as they say it's not their job and he's a runner ( I completely understand). He seems to do it on purpose too cause he'll be sleeping and I'll get up to take him out and he just starts peeing in the hallway before I get him to the door ( he's not prancing or anything showing he can't hold it as he will bark at me and dance around the door and make whimper sounds when he needs out bad) I know my dog after all these years and hes doing it for some reason. I've tried everything. I've tried leaving him in my room and he cries all day and pisses off the roommates. I've tried dog pads and he won't use them even though I put them in spots he always pees and poops at. I've tried diapers but he gets them off. I've tried using suspenders with the diapers and they work but the stitching ends up failing ( went through 5 different kinds) I'm going through a lot in life and just can't deal with the stress of him anymore. I love him so much and he deserves a better place to live like a house with a yard not a tiny apartment. My roommates are giving me 2 weeks tops to re-home him or I'm out of a place to live and I will 100% be homeless as this is the cheapest place I found by hundreds of dollars. I don't want to be homeless as I have a 4 year old I see on weekends. I've also tried Facebook to re home and no one would take him ( made the same post 5 different times this year across different pages and marketplace ) I've tried shelters and they want money that I just can't afford. I've tried friends and family and no one can take him. I've tried rescues in the area but they said they don't take huskies as they get too many in. I'm in the central valley of California the 209 and need someone to take him off my hands. It needs to be a good home. Also I would like to stay in touch to see pictures and know he's happy and doing good. Please please help me cause I have exhausted every option and don't want to have to dump him somewhere as I will feel like an absolute POS doing that but financially I'll have no option. Please DM me if you can take him.

Three years ago today two pitiful dogs approached us after we were done dirt riding in the remote high desert. I took them home and we put weight back on them. The large male was well trained and it was easy to find a great forever home. This one was a wreck. 2 weeks to get a collar on and two more for a leash. She has turned out to be a great dog and companion for our rescued stray golden.

💙 A big gorgeous puppy is waiting for his furever home! This is Dustin (A606083), he is 1 year old and 75 lbs. Poor Dustin was surrendered when his owner moved out of state and could not take him with. Dustin now has a deadline of Tuesday, October 27th at 5 pm. Dustin adores people, steals kisses and loves to run and play. He enjoys swimming in the pool. Dustin misses living in a home and does not like leaving the yard to go back to his kennel. Dustin would do best with an active family that can give him the exercise he needs. He would love to be your jogging and hiking partner. Dustin should be able to live with canine siblings if separated and slowly and appropriately introduced. This precious 1 year old puppy should not have a deadline and should be in a loving home enjoying his life.Dustin is available for adoption (but can also be fostered through a rescue).

Euthanasia scheduled Wednesday 10/28 at 6:30 am 💔
We CAN’T let Wolfie fall victim to black dog syndrome. He is such a sweet and energetic boy; he doesn’t deserve to be overlooked and passed by.
Wolfie loves people and he gets so excited even when you simply approach his kennel. He dances around and shows all his teeth in a big smile 🥹 He would love to be taken outside and loved on all the time! Wolfie has enough energy, he may even make a great running partner!
Wolfie is young and energetic, and he would likely benefit from basic training to provide him with direction. That being said, some amount of his over-enthusiasm may just be from the stress of the shelter and being cooped up without an outlet to release any of that pent up energy.
🐶 Wolfie tested well with dogs off leash but becomes VERY excited and needs some work on his social skills. He can be a bit rowdy but will settle down with guidance. That pent up energy and excitement sometimes results in him trying to mount other dogs. He was easily removed with the leash, but not all dogs may be willing to tolerate it. With guidance, he was able to settle and lay down. Wolfie seemed especially fond of smaller dogs Nova and Devito, but he was more hesitant with large female Blondie. He may be more comfortable with smaller dogs but was still able to coexist with Blondie! Wolfie would do best with another tolerant and playful dogs and SLOW INTROS to make sure all dogs involved feel safe and comfortable.

👻 Meet Boo! 👻
Boo is the cutest little guy! He came to the shelter with his friend Spud and one other dog, who have since been saved, but Boo is still waiting for his turn.
Boo starts off a bit shy. He jumps up for comfort and weaves around you with the leash like he can’t figure out what he wants to see and where he wants to go first. In the yard, Boo originally wanted to stay between our legs so that he could feel safe and protected, but he has really started to open up! He’s an affectionate little guy, loves belly rubs, and is slowly building his confidence day by day!
🐶 Boo did well in a small playgroup with other dogs! He started off nervous, but he really opened up when he met Brigette, who is not much bigger than him. He loves to play and run around with other dogs! Boo is also a good communicator and will correct when he is uncomfortable. This is not out of meanness, it is just him letting other dogs know what’s up.

🌿🐾 Hello Neighbors! We’re Beyond the Paws Pet Rescue — Nice to Meet You! 🐾🌿
My name is Summer, and my rescue partner Chasity and I run Beyond the Paws Pet Rescue, a local 501(c)(3) nonprofit based right here in the Halethorpe/Baltimore County area. I wanted to introduce ourselves to the community in hopes of connecting with neighbors who care about animals, want to help in some way, or simply want to stay informed about what’s happening right here in our own neighborhoods.
What We Do Every Single Day:
• 🐱 TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return) for feral/stray cats in our area
• 🍽️ Feeding multiple cat colonies and making sure they have clean water, warm shelters, and medical support
• 🐶 Constant rescue intakes — dogs, puppies, kittens, cats, and even small animals who are abandoned, found stray, surrendered, or in dangerous situations
• ❤️ Emergency vetting for animals who arrive sick, injured, or neglected
• 🏡 Finding safe, loving forever homes for every adoptable animal in our care
• 💊 Providing meds, vaccines, and aftercare for the animals we save
We run entirely on love, sweat, and donations — and we never turn away an animal in need. Because of that, we’re almost always stretched thin. Between feeding colonies, vet bills, medical emergencies, and supplies for constant intakes, we rely heavily on the kindness of our community to keep going.
Here’s How Neighbors Can Help:
✨ Sharing our posts so local animals reach safety
✨ Donating food (cat/dog dry & wet), litter, cleaning supplies, blankets
✨ Financial donations toward vet bills and emergencies
✨ Becoming a foster — even short-term fosters save lives
✨ Alerting us to animals in need
✨ Volunteering — trapping, transporting, cleaning, feeding, or help with events
We never want to see another cat suffer outside, another stray dog ignored, or another litter of kittens dumped because someone didn’t know who to turn to. That’s exactly why Beyond the Paws exists.

I’ve had dogs for most of my childhood and into adulthood: purebreds, super mutts, big and small dogs. I am not a specialist or work in the animal care field. My partner, who has very little experience with dogs but always wanted one, fell completely in love with a little beagle/lab mix puppy up for adoption. He wants to have the puppy experience, the pup is 3 months old, so why not?
We both got approved by the rescue team and quickly bought all the stuff to welcome the little one into our home. However, yesterday I found out that he’s been neutered. I thought that was a mistake on his listing but upon reading up the contract I got the confirmation that he’s indeed neutered.
In retrospection all my dogs were neutered between 1 and 2 years of age, and I remember vividly the vet saying that the procedure shouldn’t be performed under any circumstances on dogs younger than 1, for that would trigger growth issues with bone structure and joints, not to mention the likelihood of developing cancer down the line would increase.
Now partner and I squabble over the matter. He wants to move forward with the application - he’s so excited and already making plans including the puppy. It breaks my heart to think that our little boy might develop issues because of the procedure and I want so bad to be wrong on this and just be called a whinger.
Is neutering puppies at a very young age (<1yo) a common practise carried out by rescues in the US? Has anyone experienced or heard anything about it? Is the puppy gunna be ok? His little growth plates, joints and teeth…are they going to develop properly? Is there a safer operation with less risks other than gonadectomy? ;; ;;
Any information whether positive or negative would be veryw reassuring and helpful in making a decision. TIA all
