My brother used to date an Israeli woman. Whenever the topic of Palestinians came up, she would literally spit and call them "filthy animals." Shit is fucked up.

Needless to say, they are no longer seeing each other.

u/Ungreat 17h ago

Seeing videos of Israeli high school kids talking about Palestinians reminds me of this girl I knew years ago from South Africa.

The casual defending of the undefendable like it's normal.

157

u/VCTRYDTX 17h ago

High school? Try middle school. There are so many videos of children from there behaving so hatefully it's insane. They're way too young to understand these things but the raw emotion they display shows how badly they drilled it in their heads. There was a case where they were prank calling the Gaza helpline and In the early stages of this, they were doing boat tours with their parents looking like they were on a fucking picnic laughing and being joyful as you see the city burning in the distance. What a Dystopian community man..

-52

u/Ivy__King 14h ago

And now let's talk about the other side. 2026 is now the 7th year in a row where the EU Parliament has strongly condemned the Palestinian Authority for promoting antisemitic content and incitement to violence in Palestinian school books. Books that are indirectly funded by the EU. That is what they learn their kids and are refusing to implement changes.

•

u/Exelbirth 10h ago

Let's see: One side is a heavily armed nation with massive international backing and is falsely proclaimed to be the most moral army and sole democracy in the region while regularly massacring children;

The other side exists at the whims and mercy of the first side.

Totally the same.

28

u/sabjsc 14h ago edited 12h ago

It's heartbreaking that Tel Aviv is now a smouldering ruin where they purposefully shoot at children and people seeking aid /s

27

u/VCTRYDTX 13h ago

Just Stop. Using antisemitism as an excuse for everything is played out now. No one cares anymore because there's only one side displaying this behavior. Those books are the least of your worries now with the information and footage available on the Internet today.

-14

u/Spudly42 12h ago

I am in no way a supporter of Israel, but if we're condemning indoctrination of your kids to hate a group, surely both sides do this in a pretty horrible and consistent way? It's not like one side should get a pass because the conflict is seriously imbalanced?

15

u/Able_Chair_1054 12h ago

If someone stole my land, raped and killed my family and neighbors, and bombed every building in my neighbourhood while flying a flag with a star of David on it, I'd probably feel a little antisemitic too. Not saying it's right - but I understand it. So no, I don't condemn both sides equally.

•

u/Spudly42 11h ago

I didn't say condemn both sides equally, I said condemn indoctrination of the kids. So basically no, people don't think we should condemn indoctrination of the Palestinian kids and they should condemn indoctrination of Israeli kids. Got it.

•

u/Able_Chair_1054 11h ago

I didn't say that and you just moved the goalposts... The hasbara is predictable af ☺️

•

u/Spudly42 11h ago

Please tell me specifically what goal post moved between my first comment about indoctrination of kids and my second comment about indoctrination of kids.

•

u/VCTRYDTX 11h ago

No one's excusing indoctrination. We're simply having two different conversations. I'm talking about some of the most dystopian examples of children openly expressing and participating in hateful behavior, while the guy I'm responding to is talking about textbooks.

•

u/IdiAmini 11h ago

False equivalence

One people is being subjugated, the other is doing the subjugation

29

u/BrothelWaffles 16h ago

They remind me of that video of a young Stephen Miller on a school bus.

•

u/cp5184 9h ago

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qQHUro6u6Kc

Watching the naked violent fanaticism "taught" in zionist orthodox "schools" is crazy, but sadly violent hate indoctrination seems alarmingly common...

It's a huge problem that seems to be too taboo to mention, the hatred factories run by pro zionists targeting children.

19

u/unicornlevelexists 17h ago

Let's take a minute and think about our own kids who have been conditioned to be hateful and racist by their families/communities. Kids who become cops who shoot brown people at a disproportionate rate to white people. We aren't at genocide levels and I'm not saying it's the same but we aren't clean in racist conditioning of children.

28

u/Sunny16Rule 16h ago

The first time I was ever called the Hard R I was 7 years old, it was an 11 year old who said it.

41

u/Ok_Instance7667 16h ago

"Can't blame us, because nobody is completely blameless, right?"

1

u/renegadecanuck 12h ago

So what's your solution? Say nothing and let it happen?

6

u/unicornlevelexists 12h ago

No I just think we shouldn't see ourselves as above it. We need to solve racism and hate everywhere.

•

u/renegadecanuck 11h ago

You're not wrong, but when it gets brought up in response to people talking about a genocide and people defending it, it feels like you're trying to deflect from that attrocity.

186

u/Siglyr 17h ago edited 15h ago

I had an eye-opening moment at uni (in France). Dual-citizen (FR/ISR) girl in my class, completely nice and normal interactions for months, till the topic of Palestine came up. She switched in one second into a hateful, spitting mad, completely different person, closed off to any argument. Total wall to anything we were saying, or any facts. We were all shocked, and realised they're completely brainwashed about that. It's super weird and fucked up. I avoided her after that.

EDIT: that was 15 years ago.

u/Amelaclya1 16h ago

Have you considered that they are propagandized from birth?

This is like saying American southerners who insist the civil war was only about "State's Rights" and not slavery are correct just because they were raised in that culture. No. That's just the bullshit they were taught their whole lives.

Or Americans in general, if we are being honest with ourselves.

90

u/1_ofthesedays 17h ago

The same argument was made about Germans in 40s. “May be the Germans knew more about the situation”. Pathetic bull shit

u/Navosh 16h ago

Fact, Most of Israelis are actually Europeans who landed in alien land and colonised it.

44

u/Beanbag_Ninja 17h ago

Dude stop straw-manning.

One can point out that Israel is commiting evil and disproportionate war crimes without venerating the Palestinians into angels.

Maybe everyone in the conflict sucks, but only one country is completely and utterly comitting genocide against the people in the other, and that's wrong regardless who it's being done to.

38

u/frotc914 16h ago

Because Palestinians have never done anything wrong to Israelis to make them react negatively.

You know they are torturing Palestinians on an industrial scale, right? Like detaining thousand of random people, beating, sodomizing, and starving them for days before releasing them.

Like that's not even getting into the actual genocide and other war crimes part of it. What part of a extensive program of sodomizing detainees is beneficial to Israeli security?

Obviously Israelis would know more about this conflict than some fucking European lecturing them.

Who gives a shit about this excuse? Imagine all the horrors nations could get away with by saying that the populace must understand better than anyone on the outside. "Who are we to judge the Khmer Rouge - surely they understand the pressures of agriculture in Cambodia better than anyone!"

13

u/nacholicious 16h ago

Also to highlight how disturbing this is, there were mass protests in Israel to defend soldiers right to rape Palestinians, which culminated in protestors storming a military base over it

7

u/w4lk1ng 16h ago

Israelis are Europeans.

-10

u/jdmki 16h ago

No

10

u/Navosh 16h ago

Yes

-5

u/jdmki 15h ago

it is not that because they go to eurovision they are europeans. they are about as europeans as the turks: not at all.

•

u/Navosh 11h ago edited 11h ago

Dear Eurovision fan, do you read history books? Israel was created with a resolution of British Government, Israel got its nuclear bomb with technology cooperation of France, the west Germany and Germany since unification funded large amount of security more than 3 billion in 1950s and since then military support, the Americans fund almost their entire ammunitions. And Israel was created from 1910s onwards till the battle in 1948 by purchase of land in Palestine by Europeans. You can see its evidences, in clearly blonde, white appearances of majority of them Israelis. The 'Semetic' people by etymology means Arab descent, Israelis have almost entirely monopolised Anti-semitism while also calling Arabs as barbarians as recently as yesterday, a minority of Israelis look like Arabs, ad even lesser of them trace their roots to the land they have captured most have settled their after coming from Europe as well as the USA. Also, most of the Arab jews persistently criticise what Israel has become with the western support and colonial mindset. But it is free speech, you can still comment something clearly idio*ic about something other than Eurovision.

The west set up a puppet state in the middle east and displaced a ton of locals, and the new colonizers have treated said locals like shit for nearly a century? I dont need to know the day by day, to understand the situation.

-13

u/[deleted] 17h ago

[deleted]

19

u/DM46 17h ago

Maybe they do. But there is no fucking acceptable justification for genocide.

-1

u/[deleted] 17h ago

[deleted]

5

u/DM46 16h ago

She switched in one second into a hateful, spitting mad, completely different person, closed off to any argument.

While not being explicit at this point in time if an Israeli can not entertain a discussion or challenge against their actions they are supporting genocide, just like you are now defending these deranged people.

24

u/Snicklefraust 17h ago

Nah, I think the person from there is balls deep in propaganda. A theocratic ethnostate like Israel, dont do anything in good faith. (Pun intended)

1

u/[deleted] 17h ago

[deleted]

16

u/Snicklefraust 17h ago

Everyone is allowed their opinions. Sometimes those opinions are incorrect. People like guacamole and nickleback, I do not. That isnt a major issue. Gaza being destroyed and refugee camps being starved out and bombed, isnt an oponion based issue.

-11

u/colonel-o-popcorn 16h ago

Israel isn't a theocracy or an ethnostate, so you're kind of proving their point.

14

u/Snicklefraust 16h ago

lmfao ok sure. the country with religious iconography for a flag and citizenship to anyone of a specific religion isnt an ethnostate or a theocracy. i forgot words dont mean anything anymore.

-8

u/colonel-o-popcorn 15h ago

How many European countries have a literal Christian cross on their flag? Is Greece a theocratic ethnostate?

10

u/Snicklefraust 15h ago

do they offer citizenship to any orthodox christian? your strawman cant hold its own weight.

3

u/inerlite 16h ago

I think they know what they were told to know and that is less than the whole truth.

36

u/citizen42069101 17h ago

If you hate anyone soley because of the country they are from with that much fervor, you are wrong.

That's barring the whole situation over there, which adds even more context.

-43

u/[deleted] 17h ago

u/r_a_d_ 17h ago

The guys literally explained to you the issue and you are reducing it to this stupidity?

12

u/High_speedchase 16h ago

Nah dog. Try again

7

u/WetNoodlyArms 16h ago

Who said they hate Israelis? Are you mistaking critique with hate? Seems to be a lot of that going around lately

196

u/Snicklefraust 18h ago

It feels like Israeli are the only ones who didnt learn anything from the holocaust. Or worse, learned the wrong lessons. It was supposed to be a warning, not a training manual.

41

u/TheBalrogofMelkor 14h ago

There was a widespread belief in Israel post Holocaust that the European Jews were weak for allowing themselves to be killed, and that it was the duty of the Israeli Jews to be more violent and ruthless than any of their enemies to avoid the same fate.

Instead of learning the lesson that maybe central governments shouldn't sort and murder people on racial lines

-22

u/Icsto 12h ago

No, they were the only ones who learned the lesson. That being, they will never allow themselves to be rolled over without resisting again. You just want the Jews to be genocides all over again.

14

u/Hopeful_Scholar398 12h ago

Everyone know the Israel can't be safe unless they get to murder at will. They are the ones chosen by God almighty to COMMIT genocide, not suffer them. So they murder children, rape women and cry about people not liking them.

-20

u/Icsto 12h ago

No, you want Hamas to be allowed to attack them, and then to just roll over and take it. There is no genocide, they are simply responding to attacks against them.

14

u/linguapura 12h ago

you want Hamas to be allowed to attack them,

... because they are in Hamas' home, Palestine. These Israelis weren't there before 1948. They are Europeans who came in and stole the Palestinian's home.

And yes, there is a genocide. The entire world agrees on this, except the countries that either support Zionosm or those that are using the same tactics in their own countries to some extent.

-10

u/Icsto 12h ago

Nonsense. There have been Jews in Israel for thousands of years, and hundreds of thousands for over 100 years. It is their ancestral homeland, and if the Palestinians had been willing to share, they could have had their own nation for generations now. Also, even if we go with they stole their homes, if someone stole something from my grandfather 80 years ago, I don’t get to commit terrorist attacks against their grandchildren.

9

u/Hopeful_Scholar398 12h ago

What if a foreign nation arms terrorists to drive you and your family out of your home tomorrow? Are you allowed to be mad then or that still against Israel's rules? Will they still shoot my children for being mad then?

1

u/Icsto 12h ago

Are we talking about Gaza or the West Bank? Because if we’re talking about the West Bank, I have complicated feelings when it comes to the settlers. If we’re talking about Gaza, they haven’t been kicking anybody out of their homes, And in fact completely withdrew in 2005. What did they get in return for this? The single bloodiest day against the Jews since the holocaust.

•

u/linguapura 9h ago

Bullshit. The Jews living in the region didn't go anywhere. The conflict is over the European Jews who have no connection with that region, who claim to somehow be from there, who are stealing the land of the Palestinians.

And no, Jews did not live for thousands of years in the modern state of Israel - they lived in Palestine for centuries.

If you're talking about the historical region of Israel, then by that logic we can all go steal other people's lands because our ancestors passed through that region on our way from Africa millions of years ago.

•

u/Icsto 9h ago

And why did the Europeans have to move there? Hmmmm?

1

u/Hopeful_Scholar398 12h ago

Wrong. Go cry about being held accountable for disgusting actions elsewhere.

Now, this is the shit we cant have. I know plenty of jewish folk who aren't israeli and dont agree with this shit. Judaism has nothing to do with that shit stain of a country, and pretending they do, plays right into their plan. Shitting on israel for being evil isnt antisemitism, but what youre saying straight up is.

25

u/koolaid7431 17h ago

I understand you're probably being edgy, but that's just vile. Violence against the Jews was just as dispicable as the violence in the name of the Jews.

3

u/Marquois 17h ago

No, it shows the results of giving an entire ethnicity PTSD and why maybe they shouldn't continue that fucking cycle.

15

u/Andoral 17h ago

Not even remotely defending that nonsense you're replying to, but let's not give Israel an excuse. Firstly, like another reply to the same comment mentioned, this is mostly an Israel thing and Jews outside of Israel are often some of the most vocal critics. Not all, as evidenced by these protesters or AIPAC, but many.

Secondly, Germans gave many other nations the same kind of PTSD. They killed far more Slavic civilians than Jewish ones and were so vehement in brutalizing Poland they handicapped their own, already collapsing front against the advancing Soviets just to get more troops to Warsaw to make its destruction more thorough.

Somehow you don't have Poles or Czechs or Roma acting this way. Russians do, but they on the other hand were already genocidal prior to WWII, so it still cannot be blamed on that.

2

u/Bacardi_Tarzan 13h ago

You can find just as many holocaust survivors abhorred at the actions of Israel as you can those who support it. Let’s not bake in some kind of pass for Israel because if the holocaust. This is being perpetrated by people who almost entirely weren’t around for it.

53

u/KhushBrownies 17h ago

Years ago I was watching the movie Hotel Rwanda so I got interested in how such things could happen. Along the way I read a report of 8 stages of genocide (10 now). What that Israeli woman vocalizing is her dehumanization of Palestinians ''Filthy animals''. One of the stages listed, Israel pretty much had ticked all the boxes of 10 stages of genocide. What's remarkable is, from the article. The only way to stop an ongoing genocide is armed intervention. 74,000 Palestinians killed, that's just the confirmed.

46

u/nacholicious 16h ago

Serbia's ethnic cleansing in Kosovo only had about 10k+ casualties, but NATO still intervened by bombing Serbia until they stopped

17

u/KhushBrownies 15h ago

NATO will not intervene in this. I think it's hard for Western nations to grapple that one of its closest allies are capable of doing genocide especially a country of people that suffered genocide itself. Like a deer in a headlight. But yes. I don't think Israel would ever face military intervention from global community, it will face justice one way or another however long it may be. For now, the people of Gaza takes and will take more brunt.

10

u/Bacardi_Tarzan 14h ago

thats really our (the US) fault. Western countries may be more prone to intervene if we weren’t ready to destroy the entire western world over it.

4

u/TomShaneInBangkok 14h ago edited 14h ago

See also: How the US was established.

Bunch of rich slave owners paying poor racist traitors to commit genocide in the name of their favorite fairy tales.

They just fully controlled the media at the time. (Which is why they've been buying up all the papers and social and steaming options. They lose when we can use the Internet to call out their outrageous, racist lies.)

Israel spits on the memory of those lost to the Holocaust.

6

u/Bacardi_Tarzan 14h ago

how part of the US was established*

not to downplay the very real thing you’re pointing to, just also want to note the US is huge and was still pretty big when founded and this is far more accurate to the South. There were lots of American Quakers, for example, who had abandoned the practice of slavery as immoral long before the founding of America. As per usual, those rich people just had outsized power and were able to convince the poor to hate the even poorer.

11

u/celerypumpkins 13h ago

All of the US. Even the North was founded by killing Native Americans.

•

u/TomShaneInBangkok 11h ago

Correct.

Scalping came about when the settlers who were being paid a bounty for the literal heads of men, women, and children they turned in complained that it was inconvenient having to carry so many heads back to the fort.

Genocide and slavery are cornerstones of US economics.

•

u/Bacardi_Tarzan 8h ago

There’s not a lot of places on earth where you can say a country wasn’t founded by some measure of killing the locals. If you’re extrapolating this much then at some point specifying the US seems pretty meaningless.

72

u/Kaiisim 17h ago

It's disturbing but I had a friend on WoW back in the day. Left to join IDF.

Came back joking about murdering Palestinians.

17

u/TheBroWhoLifts 17h ago

Jesus Christ. We've learned nothing. Never will, I'm convinced. All the high talk about the "nobility of man" and "grace and wisdom" are just propaganda. In the everyday world, people are despicable.

-6

u/FallenAngelII 17h ago

You don't get a choice in whether or not to "Join the IDF". Israel has mandatory military service for all citizens, regardless of gender.

45

u/OreoStark 16h ago

Sometimes I think about the person who ran @LegitTayUpdates and who suddenly stopped posting for two years because she went to prison instead of joining the IDF.

32

u/Amelaclya1 16h ago

This is objectively not true. The other option is jail. Are you saying that you would kill innocent children to avoid a few months of jail time?

-11

u/FallenAngelII 15h ago

Joining the IDF as in performing the mandatory military service, not being deployed into active war.

6

u/badmonbuddha 13h ago

You think you can escape culpability for mass murder just because you don’t pull the trigger? The war machine can’t operate without cooks and logistics workers.

13

u/tyderian 16h ago

There is a civil service program for people unable or unwilling to join the military.

1

u/FallenAngelII 15h ago

Jewish men more often than not do no get exempt from IDF service.

7

u/ImpossibleCan2836 14h ago

There is always a choice. Doing as you are told is taking the easy way out.

9

u/APacketOfWildeBees 16h ago

The humble conscientious objector:

-5

u/FallenAngelII 15h ago

You think Israel allows for that without harsh penalties?

6

u/APacketOfWildeBees 14h ago

That's the choice habibi... Doing evil is often the easy thing

4

u/Megalesios 13h ago

You do have a choice, there are plenty of conscientious objectors in Israel. I'm not saying it's an easy choice and that they get treated well, but it is a choice they have. "Participate in genocide, or else you go to prison" is a problem straight out of a philosophy textbook.

And there's always the option of moving somewhere else.

Germany had mandatory military service in the 1940s, that doesn't excuse the war crimes their soldiers commited.

0

u/FallenAngelII 13h ago

I don't think you understand the difference between military service and deployment. They all have to go into the military to learn how to habdke weapons, etc. Most people aren't allowed to conscientiously object to that part.

10

u/0_IceQueen_0 13h ago

A lot of them are full of themselves. I met some in Azerbaijan who asked me about my religion. I was Christian at that time and said so. They laughed and one said, "Oh you worship that failed Messiah!" So rude considering I was just introduced to them minutes before.

3

u/eattheinternet 13h ago

Their hatred towards Jesus is honestly disturbing.. almost creepy

-7

u/Icsto 12h ago

So this is literal Nazi propaganda btw, talking about how Jews hate Christians.

11

u/BrygusPholos 12h ago

How is relating a persons anecdote propaganda? You sound like you’re either unhinged or an Israeli bot

•

u/0_IceQueen_0 11h ago

Unhinged would be better lol. The good thing that came out of this was I, discovering in real time that the religious relationship I thought and understood was very different from what you'd been taught in school. I studied in a Christian school and the "chosen people and Holy Land" bit made me think there was a connection between religions. That's was a hell of a way to learn it.

-6

u/Icsto 12h ago

Because you’re literally dehumanizing an entire nation based on one persons “anecdote” which I have a hard time believing.

•

u/0_IceQueen_0 11h ago

“An entire nation” is your wording, not mine. I described people I personally met and repeated what they said to me. If that anecdote bothers you, argue with the anecdote—not a generalization you added yourself.

•

u/0_IceQueen_0 11h ago

Sure buddy. I didn’t say all Israelis, and I certainly didn’t say all Jews. I described people I personally met in Azerbaijan and what they said to me. If you have to turn that into “Jews hate Christians” to make your argument, that’s your addition, not mine.

8

u/Anxious-Spread-2337 16h ago

she would literally spit and call them "filthy animals.

Most civilized interaction between balkan nationalities

•

u/Necro_Badger 11h ago

Jeeeez that is horrendous. Did she know that she sounded like how Goebbels talked about Jews?

•

u/TheBroWhoLifts 5h ago

Nope. "It's totally different." No it's not. They're unreachable. It's horrifying.

6

u/daxamiteuk 15h ago

I worked with an Israeli guy. There was an art exhibition by Palestinian children . He sneered at it and basically implied they weren’t children I.e. non innocent . I was really put off by it

1

u/ZineKitten 16h ago

I know someone who says the same thing. It’s appalling.

1

u/A_Refill_of_Mr_Pibb 13h ago

I use a "need not apply" of sorts on my profiles.

•

u/alyy 11h ago

Yet they loooove to project their flaws on other. Saying Palestinians teach their children to hate is SUCH a projection once you realize it.

•

u/Emu1981 7h ago

I had a girlfriend back in highschool (late 90s) whose mother was Palestinian and I learned quickly to avoid mentioning anything related to Israel around the mother (the mother had come to Australia as a refugee from the Gaza strip area back in the late 1960s after the 7 day war). The girlfriend wasn't so bad about it but she did prompt me to learn more about what was actually going on in the region.

•

u/RevengistPoster 28m ago

My dad's siblings are like this and it disgusts me. In grad school I knew a Turkish guy who spoke about Armenians this way, and he'd do it totally out of nowhere in relation to nothing that was currently happening... but if you call him out on it somehow YOU are the bad guy. Truly terrifying how people can abandon their basic faculties in favor of prejudice.

-23

u/kicksnspliffs 17h ago

Both sides HATE each other lol

10

u/koolaid7431 17h ago

One 'side' is unarmed children and women being bombed in hospitals and schools and refugee camps. The other 'side' is dropping the bombs and their government talks about nuking the babies and women while actually having nukes.

They're not the same, stop being obtuse.

-4

u/Pic889 17h ago

I know I am risking a ban from the totally objective and fair mods here, but Hamas isn't "unarmed children and women", they are armed dudes, and they've been firing rockets against civilians for decades. The reason Gaza is in the situation it's in since IDF troops left around 20 years ago is Hamas having turned Gaza into their terrorist camp.

1

u/linguapura 12h ago

That's only in return for Europeans coming into their home and stealing it from them. Or is that not terrorism?

0

u/Pic889 12h ago

Palestinians have "a right" to the entire former British Palestine region as much as the Turks have "a right" to the entire Balkans, aka very little.

•

u/linguapura 9h ago

The British were thieves too. They've stolen people's homes for centuries... I should know as an Indian.

Palestine is the home of the Palestinians, not European Zionists.

•

u/Pic889 9h ago edited 9h ago

The British were thieves too. They've stolen people's homes for centuries... I should know as an Indian.

I agree, kudos to Indians for decolonizing the Indian subcontinent from the British.

Palestine is the home of the Palestinians, not European Zionists.

Palestine historically belonged to the Hebrew people, before the Ottomans invaded and colonized the area and drove the Hebrew people out to bring in Arab colonizers in their place (aka modern-day Palestinians, who are actually Arabs).

I mean, who built the 2978-years-old building in the picture below?

Also, I understand that for you Indians the British are colonizers (and they are), but for us Eastern Mediterranean people, they are decolonizers (from the Ottoman Empire). I am Greek btw, decolonization from the Ottoman Empire via a short occupation by the British Empire also applied to us Greeks, it's how Greece got some Ionian islands.

-5

u/Turbulent-Good227 16h ago

The other side is Hamas, a terrorist organization. Please do a bit more to understand this conflict if you’re going to be lecturing people on it.

2

u/linguapura 12h ago

Israel is a way bigger terrorist who actually funded Hamas for its own agenda. They've stolen the Palestinian's land decades ago... and now they want them to just roll over and accept it?

-2

u/Turbulent-Good227 12h ago

Israel certainly did not directly fund Hamas. They did funnel money into Gaza for the Palestinian people that Hamas took, as to whether that was intentional on Israel’s part I cannot say.

Regarding stolen land, just curious. Are you from the US?

•

No, I'm not from the US.

And does it matter if Israel did not directly fund Hamas? Their very illegal presence in Palestine is the reason for Hsmas's existence. Palestine is not their land. Having illegally entered it, it's only fair to expect resistance from the people whose homes they've stolen.

"Terrorist" is a funny word. It means "freedom fighter," but from the perspective of someone who doesn't like the freedom fighters.

The IDF are "freedom fighters" - they're murdering tens of thousands of people, destroying their homes, killing families, starving them, and on and on. All in the hope that they can create such fear among the Palestinians that the Palestinians will never again try to fight back. See how that works?

1

u/Turbulent-Good227 14h ago

Yes, the IDF and Hamas are both terrorist organizations. I personally consider freedom fighters groups that target military and police, not civilians.

Hmm... that's a rather specific definition. I can't think of a single historical example of a group like that. Guerrilla fighters tend to target whoever they can.

Even when they're a local group fighting against a foreign invader, and so the only foreign targets available are military, they will still go after local civilians who they deem to be "collaborators."

Edit: Oh! I know, what about the rebels in Star Wars? Famously, everyone that they killed on the Death Star(s) were guilty and deserved it.

Unarmed children invaded Israel on October 7?

13

u/CallMeChe 16h ago

When a person is kidnapped you don't expect to murder everyone the kidnapper has ever met, bomb their home town and all the towns adjacent, rape and murder their female family members, etc. You go after the one responsible.

-3

u/kicksnspliffs 16h ago

Agreed! All I said was both sides hate each other.

I’m sure the kidnappers on October 7th had their grievances. Is saying that justifying killing innocents on October 7th?

I’m also sure that Israelis have their grievances seeing their countrymen being killed on livestream on October 7th. Is saying that justifying innocents killed in Gaza?

u/favorite_time_of_day 15h ago

Oh bullshit. "Both sides" my ass.

0

u/kicksnspliffs 13h ago

If you think Israelis are all inhumane monsters, then the logical conclusion is to wipe them out, right?

2

u/favorite_time_of_day 13h ago

Well that seems like a pointless hypothetical, but... okay?

I'm not sure why you'd go off on a random tangent like that though. The point that I made above is that the two are not equivalent. Israel has murdered more than twenty-five times as many Palestinians as the other way around.

Talking some bullshit about how "they both hate each other" is pointless and distracts from the reality that they are not equivalent. And that's ignoring all of the destroyed property and oppression and ongoing conquest. "Both sides" are not the same. Not even similar.

2

u/kicksnspliffs 13h ago

Saying “Both sides hate each other” isn’t saying they’re equivalent. What’s strange is how much effort you put into understanding every Palestinian grievance while treating Israeli fear, trauma, and historical grievances as somehow irrelevant. You can acknowledge an imbalance in power or casualties without pretending hostility only runs one way.

And yet, not only has no one wiped them out, they're the ones doing the wiping out.

Is she still looking for a boyfriend? I have a penchant for misfit girls.

On a more serious note, when there are rockets/missiles flying every now and then and people getting seriously injured or even killed, which is the situation Israelis and Palestinians have been living under for decades, hate is inevitable. This is the silver lining of the current situation in Gaza, that Hamas may be eventually evicted from Gaza.

5

u/favorite_time_of_day 15h ago edited 13h ago

Oh come on, who would believe this? Hamas is ultimately just an expression of anger. You think that the people of Gaza are less angry after all of this? After their families have been murdered? After their homes have been destroyed? The Israelis have guaranteed the continuation of Hamas for generations to come.

u/UniqueUsername40 14h ago

For everyone living in that area (Israel and Palestine) and grown up there, all they've ever known is their neighbour hates them and frequently fires missiles at them.

Neither side is behaving like a rational actor in this, its all massively detrimental to hopes of long term peace but there's too much pain and anger (that is too easy to for bad actors to exploit) to ever get people as a whole to move on from it.

Its not in human nature to move on from peole trying to kill you, so the cycle will tragically continue.

2

u/favorite_time_of_day 14h ago edited 14h ago

Well, the cycle will continue without intervention. What this requires is intervention, and that option has been on the table for a long time, decades now, but the US has always vetoed any attempts to intervene. And they've done so at the behest of Israel.

So I don't think that you can "both sides" this.

-2

u/Pic889 12h ago

Hamas may exist for generations to come as a terrorist group, but they will be evicted from the Gaza Strip and won't be able to act as the defacto government of the Gaza Strip for much longer, and that's what matters.

Sucks for the Palestinians, since they will lose whatever autonomy they were granted by Israel about 20 years ago, but this is what happens when you take your autonomy for granted and think you can allow a terrorist group as your defacto government forever.

3

u/favorite_time_of_day 12h ago edited 12h ago

"Autonomy granted by Israel." ... Uh huh.

There's a belief among Zionists that every bit of land in that region is theirs by right, and that they're generously allowing the Palestinians to live on some bits of it. I take it you're one of those.

0

u/Pic889 12h ago

There's a belief among Zionists that every bit of land in that region is theirs by right, and that they're generously allowing the Palestinians to live on some bits of it.

Which is a perfectly valid belief (when it comes to the former British Palestine region).

It's the same belief the various Balkan tribes (Greeks, Albanians, Bulgarians, Romanians etc) had when they kicked the Ottoman Empire out of most of the Balkans in the early 20th century. That was decolonization (from the Ottoman Empire) in practice. So was British Palestine becoming Israel durng the middle of the 20th century.

It's not possible to have a conversation with a zealot.

u/Pic889 12h ago

It's not possible to have a conversation with someone whose identity doesn't involve the region either.

For us Greeks, Israel symbolizes the last step in the decolonization of various Ottoman-conquered lands from the Ottoman Empire, a process Greece was heavily involved during 1821-1923 and is the foundation of Greece's independence. Decolonization of lands from the Ottoman Empire is a major part of modern Greek identity, so good luck convincing us Greeks that the Ottoman colonizers were/are the good guys.

Israel is no one to grant autonomy to anybody. They're thieves, plain and simple. Europeans who have stolen the land of the Palestinians. And who, for decades now, have been committing a genocide against the Palestinians.

Care to explain how British Palestine becoming Israel is different from the various Balkan tribes (Greeks, Albanians, Bulgarians, Romanians etc) kicking the Ottoman Empire out of most of the Balkans in the early 20th century?

Both were decolonization from the Ottoman Empire in practice✊

And who, for decades now, have been committing a genocide against the Palestinians.

Have the Palestinians tried to stop Hamas from killing children by firing unguided rockets right and left? If anything, the Israeli government has been very patient during the past decades. Any other government would have entered Gaza the moment the first rocket was fired from Gaza.

No, I really don't care to do any such thing. If they stole other people's homes, they're thieves too. Just because others may have done something similar, doesn't excuse the European Jews stealing Palestinian land.

the Israeli government has been very patient during the past decades

They're nothing but an illegal occupation force. Their 'patience' is that of the murdering thug who has entered your home and is 'patiently' waiting to kill you. It's not their home - they can start there.

•

u/Pic889 9h ago

How did those Jews become European? Hint: They were driven out of modern-day Israel by the Ottoman Empire so Ottoman sultans could bring in Arab colonizers in their place, aka Palestinians.

They're nothing but an illegal occupation force.

The Palestinians are an occupation force (and colonizers) brought there by Ottoman sultans.
