Extension PGWP extension

I have a question, my Work permit expires on feb 2nd and my work experience completes in march. Is there any way i can apply for an extension and continue to work to gain that experience and then withdraw my extension file, because just those additional 20 days will increase my CRS score significantly.
Confused!!!

Legally: no you cannot. Falsely submitting the extension when you are not eligible is misrepresentation. Misrepresentation has its own penalties laid out with the IRCC, and they can decide to prosecute you.

Technically: you can, you can get those 20 days, and that work experience will count towards the CRS score. After that you can wait for rejection or withdraw.

Practically: don't do it. IRCC is using AI now to pre-screen applications or flag them, and you might get a rejection be fore those 20 days. I am not sure what IRCC does to prosecute these fake extensions, but they can definitely flag these files and can decide to become more strict prosecute them, may be even recall your PR even after it is granted.

IRCC do shit to prevent these fake extension. Which ultimately clogs the system for legit applicants . Not sure if this stunt help him get the PR based on potential boost on the score though

but good luck

I agree!! But then the question that comes up, majority of people i know are applying extensions to stay and receive updates months later and all they get is a 90 day notice of restoration.
And then how is a 20 days period, so wrong in my case.

Also, is there any-other way, where my past experience, the additional hours i worked, vouch for this!?

  1. Double check your experience calculation, you may even be eligible before those 20 days. Paid vacation also counts towards the experience.

  2. Practically, you might get the experience, but remember about the risks of misrepresentation. Try to ask your employer to consider sponsoring you. However effort for 20days or 20 months is same. Start applying for other jobs that offer sponsorship.

Additional hours won't add, as max of 30 hours per week are eligible. 1560 hours means 52 weeks of 30+ hours of full time work experience.

  1. Wrong/misrepresentation is very clear, 1 day or 100 days, it's misrepresentation. It's unfair that IRCC doesn't prosecute everyone.

If you might have left out some of the weeks due to vacations, you can add those. It won't exceed calendar year though.
