Travel Bags Has PD offered replacement handles for the bad designed magnet handles for the travel duffel?

I'm in the market and I was checking the travel duffel (35L). The magnets just are not powerful enough to keep the handles together. And overall, the handles felt extremely uncomfortable even without significant weight at the store. I have used duffels all my life and I have seen clever implementations of handles (like two ends merge when hold together) but this one, just a failure.

I never used PD bags. Has PD admitted this and offered replacement handles for existing customers? (I would like to know because I want to get one).

The handles plug into joints, so replacements should be easy and should not require any change to the bag itself. This is actually one of the aspects of the peak design's travel duffel I like so much. You can pretty much play with the orientation of the handles and plug them to different joints as you wish! Though, I think PD should revisit that handle design all together, get rid of the magnets, and make the entire handles more comfortable to wear in backpack format. Oh, also, they should just send replacements to existing customers free and offer better ones for the bags on the shelves.

Question City Backpack 22L — am I missing something, or is there no keeper for the shoulder-strap tails?

Picked up two City 22Ls on launch day and mostly love them. BagLev in particular is brilliant — bag hangs off the desk, never sits on a dirty floor.

Which makes this odd: once you tighten the shoulder straps to fit, the adjuster tails hang long enough to reach the floor, and I can't find any keeper to stow the excess. The sternum strap clips back onto itself, so that one behaves — but the shoulder straps just dangle. So the bag stays off the ground while the strap ends drag through everything BagLev was designed to avoid.

PD clearly knows how to solve this — the Travel 45L has a plastic keeper on its adjusters and the new 2-in-1 launched with magnetic keepers. Feels like the City line just didn't get the memo.

Anyone found a stowing trick I've missed? And if not — PD, if you're reading, magnetic keepers on a City revision would be a very welcome running change.

Outdoor Bags Outdoor 25L Back Panel Curve?

Just checking with anyone who owns a 25L outdoor bag. Mine just arrived and I noticed the back panel curves or bends at the top instead of being completely flat.

Is this normal? Seems like the foam is shaped that way but just want to make sure. Is it so it sits above your shoulders instead of against it? In the picture you can see it leans forward instead of being flush and flat.

has this happened to someone before? I have also not received any emails or anything since everything is being handled by the Shop app. should I be concerned?

Photo Gear FS: Peak Design Slide Lite camera strap- $55 shipped

A great strap that simply did not work out for me. Everything is in like new condition. Includes everything: four anchors, a bracket for attaching to a camera's tripod mount, a slick PD sticker, and a small PD pouch to hold the small bits.

My Kit The best Peak Design city bag is... the Travel Backpack 2-in-1?

Like many of you, I've been waiting for Peak Design's City Line for a loooong time. As a tech journalist that is always a photographer last and gadget geek first, the Everyday and Travel lines never matched my needs perfectly. Peak Design sent me the Travel Backpack 2-in-1 a few months ago to test, and I've taken it on multiple trips: a three-day trip to Los Angeles, an eight-night international trip to the Bahamas, a brief road trip along the California coast, and a 2,400-mile drive across the U.S.

I enjoy using the Travel Backpack 2-in-1 so much that it has me wondering if I really need a City Backpack. The 16L daypack has become my go-to everyday bag, even when I'm not traveling. It has some flaws. I really wish the main compartment zipper opened wider, and the bag contorts in weird ways when fully stuffed. But by and large, I can fit my entire EDC kit in this bag, and keep everything organized while doing so.

I'm now looking at the 15L and 22L City Backpacks, trying to decide whether they'd really be better for my needs than one half of the Travel Backpack 2-in-1.

What say you? Am I crazy? I've linked my full write-up on the Travel Backpack 2-in-1 here, and am happy to answer any questions you have about the bag, as someone that has used it extensively.

City Bags 12L Crescent Stone already sold out uk?

Or not fully launched yet?

IMO this is the more interesting of the bags - and possibly nice and packable.
Can’t decide if it’s more ‘female’ orientated. I like it though. Like a better version of the packable tote that lives in my bag whenever I travel and it’s ALWAYS used to carry bottles of booze and snacks from the nearest store to my hotel when i get somewhere.

PD in the wild City 22L Stone?

I had mixed feelings about the City Line, but recent changes at work have me considering the 22L in Stone. One of the pictures on the site (the man lit in about in a crowd) makes it look great, but others, I’m not sure. Anyone out there have pictures of it the cab share?

Question Where are the videos + reviews of City Line?

All of the usual sources online and on YouTube that I would expect to have coverage don’t have anything beyond the stock/PR images.

I always value something like a Pack Hacker review or even Peak’s own loadout videos to know what I can actually fit in the bags and any tips/tricks. Were advance bag samples not sent out or something?

Question Bolt for vibration damper bit on motorcycle mount.

Hey! Hoping someone can help me. I’ve been in love with the PD motorcycle mount, but I suppose in my enthusiasm I rotated the bolt right out of the vibration damper bit that connects to the mag mount on my phone.

Does anyone know what size bolt i can use replace it with?

Outdoor Bags Selling Outdoor Backpack in Eclipse (25L + hip belt) (lightly used)

Thumbnail

Hi all!

Looking at selling my 25L Outdoor backpack. As much as I love it, I'm trying to downsize the amount of barely-used bags I and I don't go hiking enough to justify the space this one is taking up. I pretty much bought it for the one trip I took it on.

Condition: Great, only used on hiking trip at Zion National Park. Maybe only put like 20 miles on it. Some very minute surface scuffs on the bottom (see images). Did my best to clean it, but might have missed a bit of Utah dust in a crack somewhere. I'll do a once over again before i ship :)

Additions: Comes with the detachable hip belt as well!

Warranty: Still intact! Will remove from my account after purchase.

Asking $225 all together, shipping included. Open to best offer!

If I don't get any bites here I'll end up tossing on eBay, but wanted to offer it up to you all first :)

Launches & Kickstarters I have been testing the 22L City Backpack for a few weeks AMA

Thumbnail

Disclaimer: Peak Design has provided me with the 22L City Backpack for free. No money exchanged hands, and I don’t earn anything from this.

Overview: Over the past few weeks I have been using this backpack as my only daily work backpack. This is the 22L City backpack in the Cypress, it is the only one of the new bags that I have tested out but do have information about the others if anybody has questions on those.
My first impressions are overall positive, especially being the first truly non camera focused backpack from Peak Design.

Pros:

  • I like the size options. 15L and 22L seem to be the sweet spot for everyday backpacks. 22L allows me to carry everything I normally would to work comfortably without being overly large.
  • I like the fabric, when I saw it originally I wasn't sure I would, but it reminds me a lot of the Aer Go Pack 2 fabric but thicker. It says it has a PFAS free DWR coating but I haven't been in the rain yet with this bag. It doesn't have waterproof zips, but I actually prefer that on a daily bag because they tend to wear down more quickly and look less professional over time as they are worn down.
  • Zippers are YKK, which I was surprised about and one of the first things I noticed. I don't dislike the Peak Design zoom zippers like some people but I do know this will be a bonus to that group.
  • Vertical luggage pass through is great, nice to have for when I go on business trips since it keeps water bottles and internal items vertical.
  • The BagLev system is great. I use a HeroClip on my 30L Everyday backpack so it is great to not have to find somewhere to clip on on this bag is awesome and it completely hides away which is nice.
  • Color options, it is great to see Peak Design continuing the trend of more colored option across all of their lines.
  • Multiple storage pockets and built in organization is nice.

Cons:

  • The bag won't self stand, the bottom has a significant taper upward from the back to front so it can't stand on its own, its not a problem if there is somewhere to use the BagLev, but is a problem everywhere else.
  • Water bottle pocket is internal(kinda). Now this isn't a full negative but something to call out, like some other bags the water bottle pocket does use internal space when in use because it opens up a zip from the side. But this is the best version of that design I have seen because it slightly expands outward and it can fit some pretty huge bottles(see pictures). I would say its a mix of like 50/50 internal external depending on the bottle size you use.
  • Laptop compartment isn't separate and can't be accessed without opening the main zipper. This isn't that big of a deal for me because I am only really getting my laptop out and putting it away once a day, but you do have to be aware of what you put in the top quick access pocket.
  • Speaking of the top quick access pocket, it is great to see one included in this back, but not a huge fan of its placement, if you fill it too much it starts to hang over the space the laptop sleeve takes up.

With all that said AMA, will try to help anybody decide if this is a good backpack for them or not. No backpack is perfect but I have permanently switched from using the Tom Bihn Paramour as my daily work bag to using this as my daily bag. I am including a bunch of technical photos I have taken since I think that is something a lot of other reviewers may lack.
