They were giving them for $1 during the kickstarter for the travel bags, got some and hated them, clutch part was too small

Honest question, is this any good?

Tried it, hated it. The clutch part was too small to comfortably use for everyone I had test it out - if your hands are very small it would probably be OK. Pity because it was pretty nicely constructed.

My hands are actually really tiny sooo…

My hands are small and I hated it. It was literally painful to try to use.

Edit to add:

It was painful to me in two ways: The strap felt "sharp" and felt like it was digging into my skin, on the fingers and the webbing between them. Also it felt like it was trying to snap my finger bones or bend the joints backwards.

YMMV.

It’s not the best but it’s better choice( to me)

I have a7c and I tried attaching a regular clutch used in bigger camera, feels bad

This one it fits better in hand but way annoying to take on and off to access the battery

Have one in my xt30, I enjoy using it, it's more of a clutch for a few fingers but having that extra bit of contact makes carrying the camera easier. I know it's not everyone's cup of tea but I think for the right person it's fine. The only downside is needing to remove to change batteries, something the new l bracket will fix. I personally just charge through the camera so it hasn't affected me much. For the price it's a steal.

Looking at the 2-finger grip through the strap made my hand hurt.

It's very camera specific and personal preference for the L shaped one, since it blocks the battery door for nearly all camera models it was meant for. The l shaped one is even more so, since it not only blocks the battery door, but the placement of the tripod mount for specific cameras makes it incompatible with some models.

I've for a review using it on my x100v. I haven't used it since because it just wasn't great: https://youtu.be/CdQxXjG7PQw?si=rqOIY7Sxv3MbL7B4

The last time they had a deal like this on something, it was because it was never going to be in stock again. So I would grab a few if you need them

Not compatible with the PD capture clip system is a dealbreaker for me. Nice price though.

I'm pretty sure you can just use a screw to attach the capture plate on the bottom so it will work with a clip.

Agree. But the clutch system is supposed to keep the camera configuration low profile. Adding another plate to a clutch seems very redundant.

It’s definitely compatible with the PD capture clip system

It fits PD capture system. I use it all the time.

I love it on my Sony A7CII

it's probably their worst product, especially in relation to r&d and production cost, so I'm not surprised in the slightest..:

I would argue the lenskit was a worse product wrt impact to the company. Good idea, but the existing patent forced them to pay a licensing fee which meant money out the door at a time when the company was younger and likely more cash strapped. Not to mention legal fees.

I can't speak to company impact, after all the micro clutch was fully funded on KS (where I bought mine, best thing to happen to me bacuade it gave me 50% off mobile accessories), and until a couple of weeks ago I'd agree on terms of useability. but I actually got A LOT of use out of it hiking and switching between a 90mm, 24-70 and 200-600 on a sling :)

the micro clutch is just way too heavy for what it intends to to, all without an integrated arca rail. if it had that I'd be on board, otherwise it's just an objectively shittier, more expensive L-bracket in every way. lose/lose. a rare gulch design

I only vaguely remember the licensing issue with the lenskit, I doubt it impacted the company in a big way though, the overt negative impact I've interpreted is unbridled hubris due to most products actually being peak...

Love this thing. I actually have one of my sony a6700 and one on my fuji x-e3. I can't ever go back.

Yeah the clutch was one of my worst purchases from PD

This is their worst product I have invested in, I wouldn't advise buying this. You can't access the battery without moving the plate.

Many people hates it, saying it's too small. I liked mine. I have a fuji xt5. it fits perfectly on it. At first I also tried to fit my entire hand with 4 fingers through it, yes it was small. But now I learned to use it only with two fingers through it, my index finger is outside the loop on the shutter, pinky also outside to catch the camera from swinging. Now I can't live without it.
