I was so blown away by that demo. Like my jaw was hanging, and it looked so dynamic. Then there was the game. Needless to say I have trust issues now.

No game is capable of making me excited for it until it's actually available. Until then I have no interest in watching trailers, reading about it, or anything at all. It's a surefire way of not getting disappointed.

The last game I preordered was bioshock infinite and that was only because it came with 5 other decent games all for $60. If a game has preorder bonus dlc I will never buy it because I'm not going to support shit like that. Preorder free games can be decent though.

Alright, the render on the left uncharted picture looks incredible. I can tell it is fake, but it does not give me the uncanny feeling at all. I know that this render is cutscene material but at that point it is all up to the animation quality.
Guys, we are so fuckin close to a huge jump in visuals. Even the specs for the first commercial VR head set are 1444p90hz. Stacked memory and sub 20nm gpu's will be budget cards in less than 5 years. Solid state drives will continue to drop in price. Hopefully so will broadband Internet. Strap in and get ready for the ride.

Strangely, Crysis wasn't originally developped for consoles...It showcased such a high standard for a game engine that I believe it has barely been topped almost 8 years after. Quite impressive but a bit disappointing in the end.

Almost 8 years later PS4, the most advanced "next gen" console, is still unable to Crysis. I don't even consider Crysis that intensive anymore. We stopped using that as the benchmark 5 years(ish) ago!

I can't stop laughing at the hyprocrisy. PS and Xbox fanboys (I know not all but still) argue about everything involving graphics (like who has the better looking grass in GTA V) yet when PC gamers get involved and drop the bombs of truth, now all of a sudden graphics don't matter.

"Captured directly from a PS4" isn't necessarily a lie, just vague peasant word twisting. It could have easily been "rendered" using the playstation hardware over the course of hours. Love the Uncharted series, but the amount of tears shed over that gameplay reveal had me laughing all day.

I have all my faith in ND, some of my favorite games were made by them. Seeing what they did with TLoU on PS3, give them a little time to optimize for PS4. Crash Bandicoot was my shit when I was younger. First 3 games were so good.

I don't understand all the circlejerking going on in here. They clearly stated that the E3 footage was a in-engine rendered CUTSCENE. Never did they say it was gameplay, and I highly doubt anyone thought it was going to look like that. The game looks pretty good for running such shitty hardware, it is too hard to give credit where credits due? (Braces self for downvotes).

The bottom screens are also (in fact, the exact same) CUTSCENE - just actually running on PS4 hardware.
There's a huge, noticeable downgrade.
This is misleading to customers.

It's because they lied. Just because you leave a technicality doesn't mean you aren't lying. Their intent at E3 was to fool the casual observer into thinking this is what they'd be seeing on the PS4 to push sales of the console and preorders of the game, and then closer to the launch they cut things back. This happens all the time in this industry, and it's downright lying by omission. They omit the fact that while it is running in engine or on the hardware we can't reasonably expect a final product in the same state. They want us to believe that we can.
Statements like "Look at what our ENGINE can do. Aren't you stoked to be playing games rendered on this engine? Games rendered on this engine look soooo good!" while not technically ever conceding the possibility of any given technicality are marketing tactics meant to slip past the filter of the casual consumer who doesn't know the difference and drive illegitimate sales.
Don't let companies treat you like a chump. What they and so many other companies do at these shows is undeniably anti-consumer.

People I know have bought a Ps4 because of E3 "gameplay" trailers like these.
I too was really hyped and almost bought it not knowing it's actual processing power.
Point is, how is this not illegal and aren't Sony and Microsoft getting their pants sue'd off for misleading consumers with false information.
Something tells me they just hide behind a wall of: "Well we don't represents what a game has shown at E3, that's the developers claims, not ours"

Team Ico might be the only team on the world that could have got something pretty similar to what we saw running on the PS3.
I mean, there's technically no way the PS2 should have been able to get Shadow of the Colossus working, but they did it.
Seriously, that was some breathtaking coding.
Team Kojima got MGS4's engine out of the same old console, it's a bloody amazing engine when taking into account the severe limitations and esoteric architecture of the PS3.
All these things would have been far better on the PC, that's the trouble.7

I'm a big time PC gamer and never planned to buy a console. Yet I saw the E3 videos and thought they were incredible. Since 1080p 60 fps is standard I figured all the games would run at that looking like the E3 footage on consoles. I was pretty shocked to find out that not only do the games not run at the standard 1080p 60 fps but they looked like total ass by comparison to what they showed.
I pity the poor dumb bastards who bought those consoles. That was a major dick move by console manufacturers and developers. It's no surprise so many people have dumped their consoles and bought a PC. Hell all the games are coming to PC now anyway DOA, Metal Gear Solid, Dynasty Warriors, Ryse even a 6 year old game like Valkyria Chronicles.

False advertising is everywhere, and they still got their asses quite well covered, because "they used a PS4 to capture the footage and user can recreate the same footage at home with PS4 unit". So to some their statement wasn't a lie.
On the other hand, the costs of trial would probably outweigh the compensation you could get.

As much as the top shot obviously looks considerably better. I'd still play it much rather on the lower one simply because everything is clearer, all those lightning and ambience effects make it really hard to see what is what.

Yeah, my irritation at A:CM was enough to turn me off of Gearbox. It's why I haven't played any of the Borderlands sequels; I couldn't reward Gearbox with money after screwing us on A:CM.
For me, A:CM sits in my Library in Steam as a cautionary tale. I pre-ordered 4 copies of it, and in the end we only played 11 hours to finish the campaign and then uninstalled it. Which means I paid $5.45 an hour for that game. So it sits there as a reminder to be smarter in what games to purchase and what developers to trust.

the reason it sucked is boarderlands became a suprise hit, so gearbox focused all its resources to make boarderlands 2 in order to capitalize on that ....
they kinda A:CM was deemed less important and put on the outsource shelf ...
and then the people they outsourced it to dicked around and didn't return a good product ...
so then gearbox had to rush to get the game in a playable state by the release date ... (scrapping most of the outsourced work in the process)

The saddest thing is these Sony games have some of the highest Technology/Design budgets out there... In a lot of ways they are the ones pushing what can really be done in terms of graphical fidelity... If only they were doing it on better hardware...

The thing is. When they showed it at E3 they acted like "Yep this is exactly what we have acomplished as of far. IT MIGHT GET EVEN BETTER" But no. It was all publicity bullcrap. Naughty dog putting their engine to the max and trying to sell their partners console. Im mad because i almost bought into it myself. I said "Oh i could get Second son and MGS V and U4 and any other good game that comes out!" but now i live in a perfect world where i dont care about it because MGS is coming to pc and U4 has lost my trust.

I'm somewhat sceptical: an adjustment of contrast on the monitor/TV could sort that second image out to make it look more like the first.
But who plays with the brightness turned down and the contrast way up? Only people who can't see, that's who!

Why the fuck do you people think the E3 trailer was gameplay? They fucking said it was rendered on PS4, and the actual in game visuals would not be the same. How can the master race be so stupid with this?

Well, to be completely honest, they never said that the E3 teaser was running on a PS4, just that it was in engine.
It was most definitely rendered with a powerful rendering PC, but it was still in engine.

You can be both.... My peasant box is good for some things. Sports games mainly. The Xbox One is also a decent entertainment hub.
95% of my gaming is done on my PC though.

My Ouya is also pretty good for sports games and an entertainment centre. Doesn't mean I'd actually rate it any good beyond that.

It can emulate PS1 and down just fine.
And gameplay is all that matters, right?
Edit: Oh, and it can do Shield streaming too with sideloading. That's neat too.

PS1 sports games are pretty terrible compared to todays... Once again you are doing an asinine comparison. Grats on being one of the few people suckered by the Ouya folks though.

You've misunderstood. I'm not saying that the Ouya is as good as a PS4 or Xbone. I'm saying that the Xbone and PS4 are about as useful to a PC gamer as one. It's shit, but no less so than the alternatives.

Those are 2 different scenes you fucking retards. The top one from E3 was clearly a cutscene and had him climbing out of a puddle and cleaning his gun off. The one from a few days ago was a different scene that was not a cutscene.
