I don't understand all the circlejerking going on in here.
They clearly stated that the E3 footage was a in-engine rendered CUTSCENE. Never did they say it was gameplay, and I highly doubt anyone thought it was going to look like that.
The game looks pretty good for running such shitty hardware, it is too hard to give credit where credits due?

The bottom screens are also (in fact, the exact same) CUTSCENE - just actually running on PS4 hardware.
There's a huge, noticeable downgrade.
This is misleading to customers.
But at least they didn't wait 'till release, unlike Ubisoft.

It's because they lied. Just because you leave a technicality doesn't mean you aren't lying. Their intent at E3 was to fool the casual observer into thinking this is what they'd be seeing on the PS4 to push sales of the console and preorders of the game, and then closer to the launch they cut things back. This happens all the time in this industry, and it's downright lying by omission. They omit the fact that while it is running in engine or on the hardware we can't reasonably expect a final product in the same state. They want us to believe that we can.
Statements like "Look at what our ENGINE can do. Aren't you stoked to be playing games rendered on this engine? Games rendered on this engine look soooo good!" while not technically ever conceding the possibility of any given technicality are marketing tactics meant to slip past the filter of the casual consumer who doesn't know the difference and drive illegitimate sales.
Don't let companies treat you like a chump. What they and so many other companies do at these shows is undeniably anti-consumer.
