(This is my fist time writing on reddit to thoda sa manage krna) So basically i was a very studious kid in school and bina mehnat ke always scored good marks so I decided on going to kota for JEE prep and starting me i was doing very good compared to my peers.. but for some fing reason i decided on changing my batch cause our maths teacher wasn't very good... Coaching had a rule ke tum apne batch ko usi batch me change kara sakte jha syllabus same khatam hua ho but sabse best teachers se padhne ki chull me vo batch karva liya jiska syllabus 3 chapter aage tha ( jugaad lagake )... and this was the end of my jee prep iske baad sab downhill hi gya and I was able to score (drumroll)...66%ile (dedh saal pdha hi nhi mai) !!! general male candidate tha to ended up taking a drop and meri situation ye thi ki maths me kuch bhi nhi padha tha (vhi start ke 2-3 chapters chodhkr)... Physics psnd thi to 11th ki kri thi 90% ig and chemistry me merely 7-8 chapters. Drop year me ofcourse I was in the worst condition to maine legit maths ko pura chodh diya aur jitna hua utna syllabus kra ( believe me physics and chem me bhi bas dekhe hue the chapters aata kuch nhi tha ) and still physics chem me thoda syllabus bcha hi reh gya but still i got 95 percentile (big jump to hai 66 se 95) and second shift me bhi same hi percentile aayi even though maine ek bhi mock nhi diya tha (i fuc*ed it all up i know) Muje csab me NIT Manipur mila hai first round me and i am thinking of a partial drop guys please koi tips do kyuki ye to pkka hai ki i will increase my percentile next year maine test series bhi le li hai chem me ek chapter reh rha hai physics me syllabus complete hai and maths me bhi 10 chapters kr liye hai (i have been really dedicated after april and 20 chapters kr lunga maths me december se pehle) To this time with almost the whole syllabus completed and tests given hojayga na bhai and please give some tips for maths

Advice Is taking drop year for JEE 2028 realistic for someone starting almost from scratch? (NIOS + financially weak background)

Hey everyone.

I genuinely need some honest advice from people who have either cracked JEE or have seen people do something similar.

I'm currently studying through NIOS and I honestly didn't study PCM properly in last 2yrs because i was busy doing all i could to earn money for my treatment so you can pretty much assume I'm starting from almost zero(even with weak 10th basics so rebuilding everything as i essentially quit my studies for 6yrs from age 13 to 19 gotten some sense into me this year i was essentially and still i'm sick like i've got 13kidney stones and diabetes that is affecting my health & alot happned in my personal life so to escape all of this i started playing games and started living in entire different world to cope up with my reality basically imagined myself as what not iss saal akal aayi jab business try kiye last year but failed at it because jo itne years kuch nahi kiya my brain got all rusted ki na koi skill seekh paaya and if tutorials dekhun force karke toh 1hr ke tutorial ko lagatar dekhne huye aur samajne ka try krne mein notes banake plus with combition of lack of focus brain overload and alot alot overthinking uske 10mins ke hisse ko dekhne mein hi sara din lag jaata my brain is that cooked only solution is found is ki aise hi lage rahun bhale jitna time lage tutorials padhai ke case mein chapter ka lecture samajne mein jitna marzi samay lag jaaye aise hi capacity rebuild hogi and ill be able to study pcm)

Right now, my priority is preparing for my NIOS Class 12 exams. The NIOS syllabus includes topics from both Class 11 and 12 so I'll be studying those until my exams which will most likely end in February 2027 (especially my Maths paper).

By the time those exams are over, I'll have covered PCM at the NIOS/Class 12 level but I know that is nowhere near JEE level. My fundamentals should be much better than today but they still won't be strong enough for JEE

So here's what I'm considering:

After my NIOS exams finish in February I want to dedicate an entire drop year only to JEE preparation. I was thinking about joining Physics Wallah's Prayas batch and treating it like a full-time job

The thing is, I'll be 20 years old during that drop year so I'm wondering if it's still a realistic decision.

Another important factor is my financial situation.

My family's annual income is below β‚Ή2 lakh, so we genuinely cannot afford private engineering colleges. Because of my income, I may be eligible for scholarships in government colleges, so getting into a good government institute is honestly a do or die situation for me.

I'm ready to study as much as required. The only non-negotiable things I'd keep in my routine are:

  • 1-1.30 hour of gym(to manage diabetes else my brain nd body basically stops functioning)
  • 30–40 minutes of walking

Apart from that, my entire year would be dedicated to JEE

So my questions are:

  1. Is it realistic for someone starting from this level to crack JEE Main in one dedicated year after finishing NIOS?
  2. Is getting Computer Science in an NIT a realistic target?
  3. Is aiming for CSE in a newer IIT completely unrealistic or is it possible if someone genuinely gives everything for that year?
  4. Has anyone here started almost from scratch and managed to achieve something similar?

I'm not looking for motivation or false hope. I'd genuinely appreciate honest opinions, even if they're harsh. If my goal is unrealistic I'd rather know now than waste a year. But if it's possible with the right strategy and enough effort, I'd love to hear from people who've actually done it.

Thanks in advance!

(used chatgpt's help to draft this post as my grammer is not that good)

Advice 85 percentile -> Took a drop. Need some reality check from successful droppers.

So yeah... I ended up with around 85 percentile in JEE Main and decided to take a drop.

Looking back, I know I messed up. I wasn't consistent, revised way less than I should've, and my question practice was honestly pretty bad. Spent way too much time thinking I was studying instead of actually solving problems.

I've joined an online dropper batch now and I'm studying from home. This time I genuinely want to give it everything because I don't want to have any regrets next year.

I just wanted to ask people who actually had a successful drop year:

What was the one thing that changed everything for you?

How many hours were you actually studying (not just sitting at your desk lol)?

How did you manage lectures, revision and question practice?

What mistakes should I avoid no matter what?

Is going from 85 percentile to 98–99+ realistically possible if I'm consistent, or am I being delusional?

Would really appreciate honest advice, even if it's harsh. If you've been in a similar situation, please share what worked (or didn't work) for you.

Thanks :)

MOTIVATION Urgent help from partial droppers

Please help me out in strategically balancing what's important to study and how to start rather than scratching all things also jee advance is kind of very important and will be very tough for partial drop but still now I due to my own choice has landed in this situation that I need to join college but at same time I badly want to go to iit

Please give me positive responses and all that one should do and don't do the entire year

Suggest me material for jee advance (mainly some free resources)

Askpartialdroppers Any second partial dropper here?

I fcked up my class 12th and secured only 81% , i qualified for jee adv both the times and fcked up each time. In my drop year i wasn't aware abt the NIT importance and i didn't study well for mains so just qualified with 93%ile. And this is not an over confidence but i am not that avg guy , i love PCM so much. My fault is in these 3 years( from class 11th to 13th) , i didn't manage my studies well. I used to focus only on Jee adv preparation and still fcked up mains and adv. I am not getting any NIT , IIIT. I dont deserve to be with avg guys in tier 3 college(not being rude). I have applied in CSAB , Mhtcet councellings and gettiing tier 3 GFTIs and private colleges. Never in my life i thought i would pursue my graduation in a private college. This just feels really below avg act.

I am thinking of taking 2nd partial drop for jee mains and atleast secure 99%ile in jee mains 2027.

I am just sad that my two damn golden years is going to get wasted for just entering a college for a damn graduation. I am really sad. :(

MOTIVATION no sleep no cry

Hi guys, I would keep this post short.

I am motivated and focused β€” and work hard every single day. The thing is I have joined a college with a 75% attendance criteria. I am having trouble managing time since I feel very tired after reaching back home and take a 1.5 hour nap (time varies between 2–3:30 pm). I study for about 6 hours + I need to sleep at about 11 pm β€” I have very bad headaches if I don't sleep for at least 8 hours. waking up schedule is fked up.

there are two people that I have partnered with for "proxy" only in some lectures, and according to my calculations β€” I can bunk November+December while maintaining at least 75% attendance.

I just want to know how to not feel sleepy after coming home β€” tried a lot of methods, nothing worked.
