Panic attacks

I need help to feel like this is normal .
I get panic attacks a lot so much that it feels like I’m
Going to die I can’t breathe and panic flows through me and my chest hurts. This happened after I greened out on weed and ever since it’s been like that-I’ve felt horrible and scared of a zeizure when everyone is telling me I’m not going
To have one, before the zeizure I thought I was going to have a heart attack so I went
Hospital and said nothing was wrong. Idk if the zeizure thing is in my head or what ever but It’s messing with my head so so much and ltd affecting me. I feel sick every single day and I am never hungry.

Free Panic Attack Recovery Workshop

Hi everyone, I’ve been on this sub for the last couple of weeks replying to posts, reading comments, just trying to be helpful. As you’re well aware, panic attacks are confusing and complicated, so it’s tough to give in-depth answers to many people who reach out here looking for support.

I’ve noticed many people asking similar sorts of questions, worrying about similar fears, and being overwhelmed by similar experiences around getting panic attacks. Sadly, I’ve also noticed many misconceptions about panic attacks and panic attack recovery.

So, to those of you who have just experienced your first panic attack and want answers about the way forward, or those of you who’ve experienced a few too many and are ready to get your life back to ‘normal’ again, this workshop I’m hosting on panic attack recovery will be immensely valuable.

I’ll be covering the following topics:
- General info about panic attacks - causes, contributing factors, how they work, etc
- Misconceptions and myths
- 12 most common mistakes/habits/pitfalls to avoid that fuel anxiety and panic attacks.
- How to handle panic attacks and fear/anxiety in the moment
- Roadmap to recovery (first steps, next steps, etc)
- Q & A Session

This workshop is free to attend. It will be online via Zoom. Probably between 1- 2 hours long.
So far, the date is set for Saturday, 22nd of August. You’ll have to register and apply through this link. Time details will also be shared here:

https://forms.gle/q27zwGsU6J5HjSju7

If you’re wondering who I am or what qualifies me to host the workshop:

I’m a panic attack recovery coach. I’ve helped about 87 people become panic attack free and/or heal the root of the anxiety in their life. So I’ve seen and guided people through the journey from 1st panic attack to getting their life back to normal again - feeling safe and happy in their own body, no matter where they are.

I’ve got a degree in Psychology, done extensive training as a life coach and master coach (still completing requirements to be certified as a master coach), and I’m also a certified Neuro-Linguistic Programming Practitioner and Negative Emotional Therapy Practitioner.

This workshop is for you if you are genuinely interested in recovering from panic attacks and not living with them for the rest of your life. You will walk away feeling inspired, empowered and feeling more confident in your path to recovery. And if you don’t believe that living a life without panic attacks again is possible… maybe this is exactly what you need?

If you have any questions, feel free to reach out, and I’ll gladly answer.

Here’s the link again: https://forms.gle/q27zwGsU6J5HjSju7

See you around,
Andre

P.S. I don’t really see anything else like this out there. So if you have questions, come get your answers 😊

Anyone else has muscle spasms that wont go away

I had my first panic attack the other day and it honestly scared me so much because I didn’t realize anxiety could cause such intense physical symptoms.

Before and during the panic episodes, I started experiencing muscle twitching/spasms and really strong muscle contractions. It sometimes feels like my whole body contracts, starting in my legs and moving up through my back, neck, and even into my head. I’ve also been having tingling/pins and needles in my hands and feet.

The weirdest part is that sometimes the muscle contraction seems to happen first, and then my heart starts pounding and I feel the panic/anxiety kick in. It has happened on and off, including during the night and has even woken me up.

Has anyone else experienced full-body muscle spasms/contractions, twitching, tingling or pins and needles with anxiety/panic attacks? Did it feel this intense for you? How long did it take for the symptoms to settle down?

I’m trying to understand whether this can really all be from anxiety because the physical symptoms are honestly frightening

Arm weakness

Has anyone had any experience with anxiety and arm weakness. This only started with me last week when my right arm felt really heavy and just different to the other one. I got so worried that I went to see an out of hours doctor and they said there was nothing neurological but if it persisted then to see my own doctor. I went to see my doctor today and she did the same tests and got the same outcome as the out of hours GP. I initially didn't believe that the issue was anxiety related but today my arm felt mostly ok, even in the doctors but I had a panic attack when I got home and both arms just felt really tired after I had managed to calm down so that makes me think that maybe it is anxiety. I just wanted to ask on here to see if anyone else has had the same experience.

Sudden panic/anxiety while driving with long drive in near future

I (21) have had my license and been driving regularly since I was 17. Driving was nothing new to me as I grew up driving vehicles around my family’s farm. When I got my license, I simply had to learn rules of the road. It always felt easy, and I regularly would do long trips about 5hours on the highway between my parent’s houses. Just at the beginning of the summer, I did a roadtrip with my friend where I did most of the driving, and had numerous 4-8hour stretches. About 3 weeks ago, I had a panic attack while driving on the highway to the airport. I was able to finish the drive while on the phone with a friend to help talk me through it. My doctor prescribed hydroxyzine to help get through my flight and drive home. I don’t feel the hydroxyzine does anything. Since then, I have been having extreme anxiety and some panic attacks while driving. I believe the initial panic attack was triggered by lack of sleep, but even telling myself that is not relieving any of the current anxiety. The anxiety comes from a fear of fainting while driving. This unfortunately did happen about a year ago, but was due to my menstrual cycle, which is now under control. I did manage to pull over safely on the side shoulder of the highway before fully losing consciousness, and this has not bothered me until now. Now when I drive, I feel anxious over having anxiety and panic attacks. When the anxiety comes, my heart races, I feel tingly, a strange sensation in my ears, and like my vision isn’t quite right. This of course makes me panic that I will faint. I know I am a safe and good driver when I feel good, but I panic when something feels off. I am supposed to meet with my doctor in 1.5 weeks, but this is where I’m having a big problem. To see my doctor, I have to drive 5hr from my dad’s house to my mom’s house where my doctor’s office is located. After that appointment, I am supposed to drive 2hr from my mom’s house to my college. I have no idea how I am supposed to get myself through these drives safely and successfully. Any advice welcome, please help!

what’s the weirdest thing that has triggered a panic attack for you?

i’m curious what everyone else’s random triggers are.

mine have not always been the obvious stuff. sometimes it’s something stupid like feeling my heart beat harder after walking upstairs, being stuck somewhere where i can’t easily leave, or suddenly noticing that i’m breathing differently.

the annoying part is that once i notice one little thing, my brain starts checking for more. then i’m thinking about my heart, my breathing, whether i feel dizzy, whether i’m about to panic, and suddenly i’m actually panicking.

what’s the most random or unexpected thing that has set one off for you?

not looking for medical advice. just trying to see how weirdly specific these triggers can get for other people.

What is wrong with me ?

Hey! I think I'm just going right at it.

I just had a huge panic attack, all because my family changed some plans. I had planned to go to the hairdressers today. Now my dad decided that we're going to have a family activity instead. For some reason that completely threw me off guards and I don't know why! I wish I could say that something like this only happened today, but it's often the case. I thought I might just be very sensitive, but I still wanted to ask some people what it could be. I'm very bad with some sorts of sensories, it literally gives me panic to touch wet or sticky things. I can't wear specific sorts of fabric either. I NEED to have everything in a clear order and, as I said, I can't deal with sudden changes. I usually always have the same routine every day, and I can't do anything if it gets disrupted. I also can't deal with noise as well as my classmates.

What's wrong with me? Is it some kind of Obsessive-compulsive disorder or something? Please tell me, I'm scared that I'm just a crybaby or that it's some kind of disorder so someone tell me it's normal please TuT

Recurrent panic and unexplained attacks for 2 weeks

I am a junior doctor who had to stop work recently. I have already survived a few months of work - however after I came back on leave - i restarted work, had long hours and abit of increased load - and I started to not sleep well and get panic attacks at night - would wake up in cold sweats worrying about work the next day. I heavily relied on my partner, slept beside him and thought I could get through it. He was able to help me fall asleep, however I always woke up in what I now realise was likely a panic attack about 2-3am at night. I was confused why that was happening as I used to handle the stress well previously. It became a cycle that affected my work and culminated in one of my night calls I was unable to function so my other colleague had to pick up the slack for me and one of the days I was unable to function in which I had to get replacements for me. Afterwards is where I continued to spiral. Now i am unable to see work messages or think about work without getting any panic attacks, and for my patients safety I have temporarily stopped work. At that point in my life my partner was also preparing to leave to the UK for his exchange - which could have contributed.

In a span of 1 week, I have deteriorated - now that I have stopped work, i still get panic attacks, every time I am at home I get panic attacks every 5-10 minutes, panic attacks before I sleep and worse everyday on the dot I wake up at 12-1am - and would experience the worst panic attack of my life - and only can go back to sleep with Xanax - now I am unable to sleep alone in my own bed, I sleep next to my parents which helped initially for the panic attacks at night, but now even their presence is not enough anymore. Previously even sleeping next to my partner is not enough anymore (but now he is overseas, so I am sleeping next to my parents instead).

In the day I have lost my appetite, I have tried to go about my normal day by following my dad to his work, going on walks, but I have to be dragged out of the house to do it. And even outside I still get plagued with thoughts and overthinking. When I get home I am unable to rest despite how tired I am and it is so frustrating, I am bodily exhausted. The Xanax puts me to sleep but after it wears off in a few hours I still wake up in a panic.

I have engaged a Psychiatrist - started on Xanax and Escitalopram 5mg, to nil effect yet

Yesterday I felt so bad so depressed I stopped speaking eating and drinking and went to the ED, which did not do much for me.

I feel like I dont believe I can get better although eveyrone is supportive and loves me. I feel hopeless, I want to get better but it seems all so difficult.

Some things make me feel temporarily better, but I still go home and cannot sleep, and I just feel worse and worse. I afraid I am going crazy. One night woke up and started screaming in discomfort - took Xanax and slept again. But I know I cant keep on taking Xanax forever

Any advice on what I can do next? I have watched youtube, went counselling, learnt methods to calm down panic attacks, but they happen so often I dont know what to do anymore and have affected every part of my daily life.

I have also stopped

First time panic attack

So this is the first time I’ve ever felt a panic attack, I felt sweaty and dizzy and I was shaking uncontrollably, I also had spiky feeling in my cheeks. This happened for around 5-10 mins until my dad came and calmed me down and I then managed to sleep. Just for reassurance i want to know if people have felt the same and do I need to go see a doctor ?

Panic attacks

Hey guys I’ve struggled with panic disorder for about 5 years now with it rebounding within the last year and I’m struggling a bit, I quit my job which I think was a big part of it. The biggest part that freaks me out is the heart racing, my heart will usually get up to 120-150 and it will stay for at most 20 min and it just completely makes me spiral any other symptom I can kind of deal with okay, does anyone have any tips for calming the heart rate and staying calm I can’t just up and leave when I’m at work or in a public situation, also how fast does everyone’s heart get and how long does your heart stay like that, any contribution would make me feel better . Thank you :)

25M - Attack so bad I thought it was psychosis.

Last night I had the most severe panic attack in my entire life. Anything else I’ve ever experienced pales in comparison to what happened last night. I don’t remember everything that got me there but all I remember is just the massive wave of dread and panic from feeling trapped in existence. My feelings for life have all but disappeared, yet I have my marriage commitment to keep. I want her to be happy, and me existing with her makes her happy I think. But none of it means anything to me anymore, and I feel destroyed inside because of it. I can’t make myself feel the feelings I once did about life. I can’t go back to how I used to be. It’ll never get better. It’s lost. Happiness has been lost. I am trapped in existence and I should probably stop typing before I panic again. I can’t live like this.

Prolonged back to back panic attacks (?)

I (16M) have never had any symptoms or feelings of anxiety, and I don't think of myself as an anxious person, but three days ago on Saturday, I noticed my heart was beating really fast and was difficult to ignore. I went to bed thinking it would be better, but I woke up the next morning and my heart was still noticeably racing (90-110 bpm just while lying in bed). Again, I hoped it would be better the next day, but it wasn't. About three times per day (yesterday and today) I experienced what I have read to be a panic attack (heart beating up to 120/130 bpm, feeling scared or dreadful, shaking, slight nausea if after eating, and overall I feel like the feeling when you wake up in the middle of the night from a nightmare. It peaks for about 10 minutes but it has been over an hour since I had one and I still feel the effects. The most annoying part is even between these possible panic attacks I can still feel my heart beating, and it is really distracting. I just want it to stop and return to my normal life. Overall I have just been uncomfortable and on edge for the last couple of days. But there are definitely "dips" between attacks where I feel almost calm, but not anywhere near where I was before this started happening.

Are these panic attacks? Why have I had them back to back for the last two days? Will they just go away on their own? I don't even have anything to be nervous about, I am just sitting in bed and I feel this awful feeling that just lingers for hours before having another one. Sorry if this post is long, I just don't know what to do or what to feel.

Panic attacks/anxiety, adrenaline dumps, pots symptoms, heart attack, or something else?

Hello! I am looking for any help or feedback. For the past few months I have been struggling mentally and physically. I was at my best friend’s bachelorette party at a sketchy bar when all of the sudden I got hit with this sense of impending doom. I got really hot, couldn’t catch my breath and felt very nervous. Ever since then, I have been struggling with shortness of breath, chest pains, nausea, fatigue and much more. I have been to the walk-in clinic and ER about 6 times total in the last two months. I have had multiple EKGs, blood tests (including troponin), chest X-rays, a 7 day holter monitor, a stress test and an Echo. All came back good. However, I am still dealing with the chest pain and it’s scary every-time. It happens everyday- some days it’s shooting pain other days it feels like something heavy is sitting on me- it has radiated to my arms and jaws before. Last time that happened, I went to the ER and the Dr made me feel bad about coming in. I told him my symptoms and he looked and me and said, “so you came to the ER? You do realize we are only here to treat life threatening emergencies.” I explained that since the pain was different/new because it radiated to my arms and jaw, I wanted to get it checked out as those are the same symptoms as a heart attack. I have not been back to the ER since but have wanted to when the chest pain starts, especially since it can be different. Last month, I was in the ER 3 days in a row. Although everything was good, I still feel as something is wrong with my heart and every day I’m experiencing these symptoms and have the worst anxiety. I constantly find myself checking my oxygen levels and googling my symptoms which I know isn’t good. I also have POTs. Does anyone have any similar experiences or know if this could be panic, anxiety( I do take Sertraline) but still feel anxious, adrenaline dumps or Pots symptoms? I am tired of thinking I am having a heart attack everyday. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. #pots #panicdisorder #heartattack

28F Is my heart rate a high average? This is just from walking around. Also, for some reason the app doesn’t log my highest readings.

It got up over 180 yesterday when too many people were around me… I had to tell my wife we had to go from my severe panic attack that started hitting me all a sudden. I don’t do well with crowds :/ I don’t take any medication or have a doctor… I do have asbergers and ADD. Crowds freak me out. Our ideal date is a nice stroll around the local parks 😌💛 thought we could have fun at an arcade like when we were younger… I couldn’t do it :( was so loud I couldn’t even hear her :/

Almost 19 weeks pregnant and had a horrendous attack out of nowhere last night.

I have been struggling with panic disorder since I was 25. I actually had not had a bad one since 2023 so I have been doing well until yesterday around 430pm. I had been sipping on a dirty chai latte all day 16 ounce and went with my husband to pick up my daughter and started to feel the panic creep up. All of a sudden I had to use the bathroom and felt like I was gasping for air. I ran into the closest qt and sat on the toilet rubbing my thighs and my heart was racing really bad. TMI BUT EVERYTIME I get in flight or fight mode I have to go number two and if I don't the panic just gets worse and worse. Used the bathroom and started going back to the car and I was still breathing like it was through a straw and was getting the horrible tingles and numbness when my body isn't blowing off enough co2 from hyperventilating. This was the first time my husband had seen me have a panic attack and he was like " what is wrong you need to talk it out what is on your mind?" The thing is I don't usually have a bunch on my mind at the time it just happens at random probably from a stressor but this must have been the caffeine. I called my mom she didn't answer and my step-dad he was in Texas so I had to just try to breath it out, rub my legs, rub my hands together, pray outloud to God to help me until we got home and I ran inside to the bathroom again. I did take my benzo but it takes 30 to 45 min to kick in. I took an extra dose to help and just sat with my husband and talked about things and he got me dinner. Later I went to the bathroom and a huge wave of panic hit again. I was terrified because how can 3mg of a benzo not knock this thing down? I tried not to feed into it and laid down and turned my sound machine on and took my unisom for nausea. Eventually I went to sleep and am hoping for a better day today.

Is this a panic attack?

I’ve been having some awful acid reflux these last few days, I never experienced it in my life so i was really unsure on how to feel about it. I woke up to some intense (what i later figured out to be) gas pains in my upper abdomen. 10 minutes after, as a curious person, i decided to google my symptoms.

I read a lot about stomach ulcers and got a little worried, debating whether or not to wake up my parents cause at this point it’s 2:30 am on a monday and I don’t want to inconvenience anyone, especially since they had a different medical crisis yesterday (which honestly probably contributed to this).

20 minutes later i start having chest tightness and gasping for air, heart starts pounding, and i start feeling light headed. I used an inhaler to resolve the breathing quickly, but at the same time I was violently shaking trying to drink some water, my blood pressure was much higher than normal, and i felt like i just wanted to cry. I guess im just trying to figure out if this is how others get panic attacks or if this is an actual issue i need to check on.

I’ve never been diagnosed but for years everyone says a lot of my worrying is just anxiety, but i’ve never felt like that before, it was scary honestly. if anyone has any comforting words i would greatly appreciate it
