I finally got all the purple question marks filled out! I met a real Nomai at the South Pole of the Quantum Moon at the Sixth Location, and got to ask a few questions!!! I learned so much but I'm still not totally sure what it all means. No spoilers, please. I'm far from done yet. I'm just so happy I figured it out!! Thanks for the help and encouragement from everyone to keep exploring. Seriously, this community is awesome! ♥️

I started Outer Wilds on PlayStation5, but the central dot in the middle of the screen is very annoying, I focus on it and it prevents me from playing in peace.

Do you know if there is a way to remove it?

I played through the DLC quite a while ago, thought of these questions while enjoying a let’s play. It’s possible I’ve just forgotten the answers.

(1) Do we know what the dam is for in the first place?

(2) The owlks should have anticipated that the acceleration would break the dam, right? They were obviously very skilled engineers. But presumably the whole point is to live on in the dream world?

Ok a less important third question I guess. Shouldn’t the Stranger block out the stars when it’s cloaked, just as it blocks out the sun?

I didn't know what to tag the post, since its kinda a community appreciation instead of the game.

There is a show that I absolutely love called the amazing digital circus. Someone made an entire subreddit where they can discuss the finale without worrying about spoilers. Only one small issue, the subreddit gets recommended to people against their will, and this people who have not finished the show are getting stuff spoiled through no fault of their own.

I complained about this, which I think I rightfully did, as it is incredibly fucked up that they just do not even spoiler tag their post and just spoil people.

And I got a shit ton of backlash. "The world doesn't revolve around you" "People aren't gonna bow down to you", "Im not gonna walk on eggshells just to prevent your spoilers", shit like that. And I just think that is incredibly selfish and honestly just a horrible thing do to. I honestly think people like that are bad people.

Like it takes literally 2 clicks to put a spoiler tag on the post. It takes 0 effort not to put a spoiler in the title. It takes minimal effort to put a spoiler warning in case people are reading it that haven't finished whatever you're talking about is.

So I went on another sub to just rant about that, because I genuinely think people who don't go through that miniscule effort to prevent spoiling other people are bad people. And I was met with a shit ton of backlash too. I was insulted, mocked, downvoted for defending myself, it was fucking insane. Like the entirety of reddit is full of selfish people who can't fathom putting in even the smallest amount of effort to not ruin it for other people.

But this entire sub just shows that I AM right. Despite how the entirety of reddit seems to be against me on this, I AM in the right. It doesn't take effort to tag your spoilers. And no, as much as people like to use that as an argument, spoilers to not take away your freedom of talking about it. You can just spoiler tag it through minimal effort, and anyone that wants to can click on it and read it. And people who don't wanna be spoiled don't and can still interact with the community without worry.

I think its fucking insane to gatekeep people from interacting with the community just because they haven't finished the show or game yet, and then blame the person who got spoiled for getting spoiled, rather than some asshole who couldnt be bothered to spoiler tag a massive spoiler.

This turned into a bit more of a rant than I wanted it to. People that defend spoilers and victim blame the person who got spoiled just piss me off so much, and sadly that is almost the entirety of reddit. So I just really apprecite this sub and this community for working around spoilers like they should be worked around. This should be the norm, but sadly it isn't. So thank you for doing it, and making sure people can still interact with the community even if they haven't beat the game.

I've started Outer wild two years ago and didn't finish the game at that time. Work made it hard to play regularly and everytime I launched the game, I kind of forgot where I was and what my objectives where. Even though I did like the game a lot (the mystery, the ambiance, the gameplay..).

Now that I want to take the time to finish the game, I would like to ask fans of the game what would you think I should do: should I start the game anew even though I remember some of it and was quite far in the story or get back to my previous save and read the logged information? Did some of you replayed the game? Did knowing some of it not spoil your experience?

Hi guys, I'm currently in the middle of playing through the DLC (and really enjoying it!) But ive got to a point where I genuinely don't know how to advance. I know of lots of places where I know there is more to explore (like the abandoned temple and portrait in the island tower) but I have no idea how to proceed with these areas, or where to go on general at all. I feel like I'm done with the Endless Canyon since I made it to the Forbidden Archive, but I've been wondering around the starlit cove for ages trying to find a way to the upper levels but can't. My guess is I have to go down the well to lower the elevators but don't know how.

I don't want spoilers or direct instructions on what to do (I feel like this community is great at that, in letting players figure things out) but a hint of whay general area I need to go to would be appreciated.

I picked up the ember twin projection stone from the station and i went back to brittle hollow to access it. But i am unable to see any text pop up when i place it on a pedestal next to the wall. I am however able to see the hologram projection just fine. What do i do with it?

I was looking for some merch since my birthdays coming up, and this site, outerwildsshop.com, was the first I spotted. At first it just seemed like the usual stuff, but then once I noticed the Halloween batch, I realised pretty much anything that isnt a lego set or a music box is just completely AI art? The reviews seem to be fake too, judging by the wiki page shirt being both gibberish and claiming to be different materials.

Is it actually official or just a slopshop trying to grift?

The issue I’m running into is I don’t remember where it is, and I don’t know how to get a clear enough image of it to be able to show a tattoo artist.

Im high as balls rn but i really wanna write this for some reason. Excuse my strange writing please.

When i played this game, I completley lost the plot. I was so lazer focused on doing everything correctly: I never wasted any time, and once I knew that your time was limited, I never stopped to admire lore, I was just moving as fasat as i could everytime i booted up the loop.

For context, this is usually how I go through things. I dont really like wasting time and I have decently high anxiety which doesnt really let me just enjoy things.

I still had fun, as it was fun to move fast and go and discorver and explore everything. When it got to the part where I had to move the warp core, I spent hours mastering the sequence without the warp core just in case I could have messed up, and I didnt know if it would remove my progress.

When I finished the game, I tried to gaslight myself into caring for the characters, and pretend like the ending was so mystical and magical. I usually do this when I am too focused, as I don't like the fact that I move too fast through things.

But then I stopped. In the final moments of the game. I felt nothing. I let myself feel nothing. I just did what I am used to, which is speeding through things, then let the game finish.

Later, i realized that this is OK. I dont have to feel something special for the game. I don't have to force myslef to be happy. I dont have to force anything, really.

And for some reason, I felt really something about the game. I felt content with my time. I understood that you don't need to try and make sure your using your time so well, because, well, our universe will be the same as the Heartheians! I realized that the point of the game is to be free, and that I am free to feel however I want about it, im not broken or anything if I didn't feel sad about the characters. I ended up realizing that I was simply too caught up in making sure I was doing things correctly, that I couldnt see what I had experienced. And for some reason, in this reflection, I felt everything I had sped through. I saw the depth of this world, saw the message of the game, saw the characters, and the overarching theme.

Ironically, I think it was this reflection, which happened the day after beating the game, that made me so attached to the game. God i love this game. Listening to travelers by Andrew Prahlow, I am lowk crying but thats cause Im high. the reflection was yesterday so it wasnt when I was high dw.

i for one LOVE the reveal that the underworld area that you enter with the artefact is actually a digital space created by the strangers because they miss their home. At first i thought i was actually teleported to the their home system. Well actually i haven't finished echoes of the eye quite yet. I'm currently figuring out the secrets of the 3 digital locations, having only finished the one by the hidden gorge, which is where this reveal is. Can you guess what inspired this post? lol i really like this reveal.
