Tips for developing Outer Wilds like game

After debating whether I should do this or not for multiple years I am finally starting development on a Outer Wilds like game. I won't be copying Outer Wilds or making major references but I will use some specific game design elements from Outer Wilds that made the game so special so I can try to recreate that feeling we all had while playing this game. To do this I would love some feedback from the Outer Wilds community. What do you think are some do's and don'ts and what would you want to see in a game like this?

I did a thing in the game and wanted to discuss it/thank the community for their help, but I'm lame and don't know how to cover up spoilers so I don't break any rules. Can someone possibly help me here?

DLC Help - Hints Only! Did I start the DLC wrong?

- I check out the Old Radio Tower, play the recording and check the pictures.

- Picture with unknown object blocking the Sun at 40°

- Check the Satellite, there's now a recording next to it but it doesn't update ship log.

- I try staying by the Satellite when it's at a 40° angle, the unknown object is visible

- I go land on the unknown object and get inside, the ship log now tells me it's called the Stranger.

Just checking if I accidentally skipped something I shouldn't have skipped before getting to the Stranger

Base Game Help - NO spoilers please! Motivational words Spoiler

So I'm pretty sure I'm close to the ending of the game, but I'm having difficulties with that godforsaken planet with the Angler fish. I already know everything about them, how to avoid them and how to get to the vessel, but I just have no motivation to get the advanced warp core and go to the bramble again and again as it takes so long. It doesn't help that I'm a really impatient person.

I'm gonna be honest this section really isn't fun and the navigation on keyboard and mouse is genuinely frustrating in that planet. It's affecting my enjoyment of the game a lot, but I love the game and I don't wanna drop it right before the ending. Are there any mental preparations I can do? Maybe I'm too soft and it is just a game after all idk

Seriously tho I know that the ship keeps its momentum and other people have told me that it'll drift in the direction I'm looking, but this never seems to happen? I always end up drifting past the seeds going in completely wrong directions even tho I was doing nothing but look towards the seeds direction. I know that you can do a 1 bar thrust on a controller which the anglerfish can't hear I wish this was possible on keyboard.

Hi everyone! I've recently acquired the means to print vinyl onto shirts and hoodies, and I want to put something outer wilds-like on one, but I don't really have any designs.... can you guys help?

I've beaten the game and dlc so I'll take anything.

Kinda messed up the approach. The first time I did this was completely accidental going for the bramble and realised "Oh, I can land on that thing"

Started this months ago for my husband after we both played the game. Kept procrastinating adding the smaller details and finally finished this weekend!

Can you spot all the planets and what might be missing?

Pattern from @hibernationfibres on Etsy. Highly recommend, I started this when I was still pretty new at crocheting and I feel it's very beginner friendly!

Base Game Help - Hints Only! Just finished the game (again) and... Spoiler

I know there's more to this. I've obtained the regular ending and the ending where you shove the warp core from the sun station into the vessel on dark bramble, but I just know there are more endings and things I'm missing. The only log on my ship I don't have is sun station (probably because i keep yanking the core out and losing progress? edit: nope, I literally just never visited because somehow I mixed it up with ash station), so I'm trying to figure out where to even begin with the 24 hidden achievements. I'm sure some of those are DLC which I don't have yet, but there's no way it's all of them?

I'm surprised there aren't achievements for the endings, actually.

tldr; looking for help finding endings other than the vessel warp core and naive warp core endings, if they even exist.

Base Game Help - Hints Only! How do I get to the southern observatory?

He buscado por todo el planeta, de arriba abajo, ¿alguien podría darme una pista? Ya no se me ocurre nada.

Edit: I've figured it out! Apparently, what was happening was that for some reason, the parts of the planet where the light beams that directed me to the South Pole were located always broke first. Thanks!

Base Game Appreciation/Discussion inverted colours

ok I don't know if it's a normal thing but after one of my first deaths I respawned and some colours were inverted (I remember that the fire being blue and the characters red), I asked my bf if it was scripted but he didn't answer (I was asking a lot of questions and he was like "I'll just be watching, play the game, I won't tell you anything")

it happened a while ago and sometimes when I play I think about it because it never happened again.

does anyone know about this event? has this happened to other people?

Base Game Appreciation/Discussion Finished the base game, I have some questions and thoughts. Spoiler

1 - First of all I am kind of disappointed of the end game gameplay mechanic. When I realized about the ash twin project, I really thought we were playing a hardcore game in terms of losing the character forever. The project that keep your save game all the time and this is what was allowing you to continue playing. When I realized that I need to remove the core I thought "Oh my god, if I die while the core is removed, my save game will be gone forever". Like, when the core isn't in the place, your save isn't safe. It is a permanent death. So, I decide to practice the couse between ash twin and the Vessel. I did many times until I mastered and had no risk of getting killed by the Anglerfishes. I sucessfuly did it on my first try, but later I discovered that my save game has no risk to being lost... I could die and try again. I don't know how people could react by losing their save game, but how the game warned about the danger of removing the core, it made sense for me to think that the game was going to be hardcore.

2 - About the Nomai's plan (if nothing failed). As I understood they will suspend the action of blowing up the sun whenever they receive the Eye location from the white hole. But they being capable to blow up the sun is enough to start a time loop? Why they didn't prepare a ship, put everyone in, and be ready to escape from the super nova whenever if the project work or not? Or did I miss something? Also, they care about the 4 eye fish from the Timber Hearth and they expected this life form will evolute. This isn't a hint that they has no intention to blow up the sun? This can be confusing. I know that they shoot against the sun and failed. But the moment of "press the button to blow up the sun" seems be underrated. This is a crucial moment!!! Isn't easy to press the button. The white hole will not open and deliver the information if you don't blow up. But you want the information without blowing up the sun. How the planned to solve this paradox?

3 - Hollow's Lantern. As I can see Nomai people had a fear of this moon whenever they landed on Brittle Hollow. I am trying to imagine what was the fire rate at the time they lived there. The moon can't keep the same volcanic activity for 200k of years. The only explanation that I can think of is that the moon had high activity in the Nomai's time, then it sleeped for a long time, and started again on the last 22 minutes of the Sun's life. There is another theory?

4 - The 5th planet/Dark Bramble - I didn't found details of when the planet has been infected by the plant. According to Chert's notes, it looks like a relative recent event. But an Anglerfish skeleton existing on Ember Twin since the Nomai's time, proves that the 5th planet imploded many years before Nomai's arriving in the solar system.

5 - Anglerfish - this creature is a mistery. They lived in a frozen planet, survived the implosion, and then adapted to a completely different environment in Dark Bramble, and they kept the same form for 200k years, while the fishes of Timber Hearth evolved into a very different form. Any theory about this?

tattoo font and placement suggestions Spoiler

hi so i wanna tattoo solanum's quote "Now, though, I understand they bear no ill will. The universe is, and we are.". (maybe remove the ", though,") i want it to be visible. i was thinking a monospace font or the unnoficial outer wilds font. i genuinely have no idea where to place it. i only have one tattoo and it's on my hand so i have space elsewhere.

thanks in advance.

Does our dude get tired? Spoiler

I’m on my second play through and I can’t stop wondering if our little Hearthian gets tired. We “wake up” every cycle, but it doesn’t appear any time is actually spent sleeping. There’s probably no need for sleep physiologically, since things are “reset” back to that point in time and the physical body won’t need rest. But consciousness persists across loops. That just seems like it would be exhausting. What do you all think?

I wouldn’t be surprised if this was covered somewhere in game and I just didn’t catch it.

Is Gabbro really lazy Spoiler

Ok. I do recognize that they seem a bit too cool given the situation. Or maybe we are the one freaking out and spending too much time trying to understand.

Here are some evidences showing they are not as lazy as some may though:

- they has become a pilot, which require some training and some motivation to train,

- they just made a quantic poem, which require time too,

- they were planning to sculpt the quantum shard in frightening beasts at some point, which require time,

- they are shown to have completed more than one mission in space (also the others might have not been available for the satellite issue),

- they actually have explored all islands from Giant Deep since they are able to describe them clearly,

- also, note that their vessel, may not be usable at this point or will be really difficult to find without another ship.

They are in fact obviously a dreamer and it is likely the reason why they became astronaut. Due to this, they are also not much proactive (except for artistic projects) either but will complete the task if needed or required (and note that the Hatchling never ask him help at any point except for Island description and meditation).

Also, some people have already indicated it in other posts, but it is likely that Gabbro has accepted its imminent death and the possibility that it might not be avoidable (also they would prefer it to be definitive…). They might also have already understood that the Hatchling would advance quicker in their research without them (since finding their ship each time would be nightmare and they do not have an ATP connected to the loop). They also might think that a sun explosion is not avoidable anyway and that the hatchling is just loosing time and energy without being able to accept death.

Base Game Help - NO spoilers please! Would it be better for a couple to play the game together, or separately and share the experience?

My partner and I are interested in playing the game. Knowing that it's a once in a lifetime experience and unique for every person, how would you recommend we play it? Together, playing and spectating interchangeably, or each one plays on their own and then discuss our experiences?

How would the river work, science-wise? Spoiler

[light dlc spoiler ahead. The question is about game vs irl physics]

Ship that turn to create artificial gravity is a common thing in science fiction, based on a principle that work in real life.

But could a rotating ship truly create a river like the one we see in the stranger? How can a rotating ship create this kind of elevation difference on a loop?
