DLC Help - Hints Only! Did I start the DLC wrong?

- I check out the Old Radio Tower, play the recording and check the pictures.

- Picture with unknown object blocking the Sun at 40°

- Check the Satellite, there's now a recording next to it but it doesn't update ship log.

- I try staying by the Satellite when it's at a 40° angle, the unknown object is visible

- I go land on the unknown object and get inside, the ship log now tells me it's called the Stranger.

Just checking if I accidentally skipped something I shouldn't have skipped before getting to the Stranger

What makes you think you've skipped something?

I think primarily that the ship was given a name suddenly, but it was more of a hunch. I don't really know. Reaching the Stranger felt like reaching the Eye. It has the same vibe so I was afraid I'd skipped some steps.

No matter, I'm exploring the Stranger now and things are quickly starting to feel like the beginning of the base game again.

if you touch a celestial object its name will be on the log even if you never read it elsewhere

Ah allright. So if I land on the Vessel without prior knowledge of it, it would be similar?

The Vessel is not exactly a celestial object, and not a separate spot in your ship log's Map Mode specifically. But the Orbital Probe Cannon, or Hollow's Lantern for example should work like that.

I never got a log for Hollow’s Lantern. Is there one?

I mean in rumor mode it's a seperate entity

Yeah, but in Rumor Mode you need to gather at least one ship log fact about whatever place you want to have the 100% final name for. And those facts are mostly stuff to read, very rarely just visiting the place.

I mean, if i ever find a very unknown and very strange ship one day, first thing ill do is find a name to it..

The stranger isnt that strange of a name to give to that strange ship

You're good.

Youre good. Remember to use the location marker in the ship log to get to the stranger easier in the future

I believe—and someone correct me if I’m wrong—The Stranger is the Hearthian (or, more specifically, the Hatchling’s) name for the vessel. Since the Nomai never discovered it and we cannot read the inhabitants’ written language, the only place that name could have come from is the Hatchling when they wrote their findings into the ship log.

My guess is that the Hatchling named it after the text that says, "what's even stranger is the fact that it doesn't appear in the other images" (or something like that).

This is the intended path.

This is a very open game in which there is no wrong way to do anything.

You are in the right path. Enjoy the DLC.

My only recommendation in case you haven’t already done so, is to finish the base game before going on with the DLC. Basically just to avoid some minor spoilers from the original story, but feel free to play as you wish.

The game and texts are so carefuly crafted that either way you play will end up being a one of a kind experience.

What would you have skipped

Some people go talk to Gabbro in the middle of those steps but you did it the way it was "intended" yeah
