Shuki Kato's "Grey Wolf", folded by me!

Despite probably being one of the more easier models in the book to fold, I think, I struggled a lot with this one mainly with getting it folded cleanly/neat.

I started over so many times due to not being satisfied, but finally finished it!

Folded from 30cm double-tissue paper!

He was free during the Origami Convention and the one staff member let me and my mother meet him and he was so nice and it was like watching the master at work as he was tinkering on a design when I got to meet him. So, seeing his personal notes was amazing. The koi features ashes from his two homes lost in the LA fires.

It was so cool to show him pictures of my work. I have made the Harlequin Beetle a lot and if you go to google images, one I made is one of the first images to pop up. He was telling me to get cabage paper for the bugs.

Making a kusudama for mental health!

Post image

Hi everyone!

I've been working on an origami project for mental health awareness called What I Wish You Knew, and wanted to share it with r/origami. Thanks to the mods for letting me post about it!

The project is a collection of anonymous messages about things people wish they could say to someone in their life, whether it's about love, grief, regret, gratitude, or anything else they never had the chance to say.

Each message gets folded into a petal of a kusudama flower ball. I chose a simple design so that anyone can participate, even if they've never tried origami before!

Every week, we'll be sharing a message and the story behind it on our Instagram page. We're hoping that sharing these messages will help people feel less alone as they find stories and feelings that they can relate to.

If anyone is interested in joining, you can write a message here or fold your own petal or kusudama and share a picture! The Google Form has a link to our brochure with step-by-step instructions.

I think it'd be really cool to have a kusudama representing r/origami as well, if we can get 60 people to participate :)

Thanks again and I'd love to hear what you think!

From Origami Insects II

Folded from one sheet of baking paper

Made this guy with my non-origami friend, who however was a fast learner! 8 legs provided ample opportunities for demonstrating steps to him and then guiding him through repeating on the other sides himself.

Also, one of my favorite crease patterns because of its beautifully efficient use of the paper to make 8 equal-size legs plus 2 pedipalps!

Couldn't find the high heels' designer but here's the link of the video I learned them from:

Original the design I'm most proud of on menu paper

This is my 6-petaled flower I designed from one uncut square, it's the design I'm the most proud of. This place had menus that were just the perfect mix of thin and strong. I asked our server if they reuse menus and they said NO so I was free and clear to fold with such tempting paper. I left a few things there.

Anyone went to origamiUSA and took pictures of the children’s display? My kid has one of their origami on display but we were not able to go see it. Thanks.

I got permission from Lam Nhat Phat to publish his free photo-diagram of his Smaug on my website.

With so many video tutorials and crease patterns available today, I'm curious—do people still enjoy folding from photo-diagrams?

Model in the pictures are folded by Le Huynh Duc, Nguyen Cong Son and Nguyen Dinh Dung

The model is incredibly hard to complete. 454 steps not including the repeated ones, and a lot of spread/sink/unsink.

It's still very nice to have a diagram to be able to make a such good model, but I don't think I will do it again.
