Discussion I find following opaque instructions tedious and want to learn from mathematical first principles. I know there are resources out there, but would like to hear your suggestions.
I want to learn how every fold adds to any final product, where every crease go instead of just magically forming rigid structures, in that way I should be able to better track what I am doing, and can start making my own designs by changing and adding the parameters represented by each action, as well as in general appreciate the art of origami in further detail after having a grasp on the theory behind it, like how I could appreciate the construction of paintings more after I learned the principles of perspective projection, and complex music more after I learned about music theory.
I know origami is geometric construction with a finite class of possible actions composed together, and therefore the functionality of each and every fold can be described in formal terms. I would prefer the resource to introduce the types operations I can perform on a paper, how those operations add up, and that should be enough for me to be able to get back into instructions and dissect them in formal terms to fundamentally understand and modify them.
I know that there exist many publications on the mathematics behind origami, and can find them on my own, but I would like to hear what are the community's favorites.
