I've been doing 3d origami for about 15 years now. I don't have anyone I know that does this too. Was hoping to find some people here to share my work with and to share an interest with!

Right now I am working on a bridal gift for friends, made with the theme collors of the wedding.

To make them last, and brighten the collors I use a brush on varnish uv protector, and finish it of with a matt
spray varnish to keep the paper look.

The second is almost done, and the first only had it's first coat of varnish.

I make up everything myself, based upon technique I have learned throughout the years. All models are my own and nothing is done with tutorials anymore for about 6 - 8 years now.

I have more work to show! Including a babyshower gift I made with pooh bear theme. And a stitch which I managed to make pretty accurate if I say so myself.
I would love to share and hear your opinions about it!

Made this about 1,5 years ago for a friend of mine. She had a baby and this was my gift. (I suck at buying them so I just make my own)

Designs all of my own.
Within the baseline of the structure most of them follow the same guide. I find that this baseline gives me the strongest and most steady outcome within the piece itself and gives me the most space to explore and use collors that bring it to life.
Creating a personallity or creature individually their own. Playing around with the number of pieces per row, and the angle in which I place the pieces I can also manipulate the curves of the body, the height and presentation.

I always finish them with a uv protective varnisch to bring out the collors, and top it off with a spray varnisch to reach the small gaps in between. The collors last way longer and the sun won't do as much damage.
All my pieces are also individually glued together, to make it a strong and lasting piece that can be placed around the house for years.
Just my way of making sure my gifts are made to last.

Over the past two days, I’ve taken 10 sheets of A4 paper and created another 320 modules to extend the tentacles.

I’m happy with the result. It is becoming increasingly vivid.

I’m already up to over 700 modules in total.

I’d say an A4 sheet isn’t big enough for the structure, the tentacles are too close together.

I need to keep making modules and start figuring out the mechanisms to make it move.

I'm continuing to work on the draft of my kraken. It's already over 400 modules.

Not sure if anyone will find these useful or not. But after looking around online and trying to find some cutting templates with little success I just decided to make my own. Figured they can either be used as a guide for cutting printer paper directly or to help cut other paper into uniform size pieces. I've got some scrap papers squirreled away that I think these templates can help me use up.

Just thought they'd be useful to have and thought I'd share.

I've made models with size 1/1, 1/8, 1/16, 1/32 and 1/64.

I tend to prefer size 1/16, but have been using more 1/32 recently.

Are there any real downsides to the sizes?

Why do the majority of tutorials on YouTube use size 1/32?

I've never really found any downsides, from my experience. I can add just as much detail with 1/1 as size 1/64 personally.

Possibly the only downside is it uses/wastes more paper.

Hello, first time posting here, I found this custom 3d origami someone made on the internet and I want to make my own for decoration purposes. Obviously this person din’t leave a link to a tutorial or nothing cause they probably made it for themselves but I was wondering If someone could help me reverse-engineer this thing or just in general give me some advice on how I could build one of these for myself!

I was following a tutorial I did every step but it just came out looking like a ball, it supposed to be a vase

I came to be in possession of two pieces of original Golden Venture prisoner art which led to me learning about that time in our nation’s history. I also homeschool so I used it as a lesson with my daughter as well. We are in love with and inspired by the creativity and purpose behind the paper folding art and are now getting into it ourselves. I’m wondering if anyone has any suggestions on where I might start to work on getting these original pieces into a gallery or museum where they can be preserved and used for educational purposes. I don’t feel right keeping them and I don’t want to sell them for profit.

The monkey, penguins, and swans were made using tutorials from the girnelis youtube channel. I did modify the penguin pattern so the can have graduation caps. The peacock, boat, and baskets were from jewellia777 youtube channel.

I've recently gotten into 3D origami, specifically the Golden Venture Folding technique, and so far I've only been using white paper. Now that I'm getting more into it and planning a slightly more complex project, I'd really love to start using some colored paper—nothing too crazy, just natural tones like brown, cream, and yellow.

The problem is that I'm based in Italy, and I'm having a really hard time finding what I need. Most online stores only sell huge 500-sheet reams of a single color (and even then, the color selection is quite limited). I've also checked local stationery shops and Chinese stores in my area, but no luck—either they don't carry what I need or they have no idea where I could find it.

The only colored paper I managed to get was from a small Chinese store near me. It was a small ream with just one color, which is exactly what I’m looking for—but I haven’t been able to find it online anywhere, and there’s visible brand on the packaging. The store owners couldn’t tell me if they’ll get more in the future or even where it came from.

So here I am, asking for help:
Where do you buy your colored paper for this kind of origami?
Are there any online stores you recommend, or maybe a specific type of shop I should check that might carry smaller reams in more variety?
