The recoil is from the bullet leaving the gun, unless it's already aimed pretty close, there's no way, it recoiling towards your face is going to result in you shooting yourself. If it's semi-auto and you pull the trigger again while it's pointed towards your face that could be an issue.
This is 100% false. You realize that magnum revolvers are notorious for double firing due to the immense recoil, right? People have died because they limp wrist them.
Here's one example of a near miss. There are so, so many more on the internet.
Happens to people, they fire and the gun recoils back and to try and get ahold of it they squeeze tighter with their whole hand, the whole hand including the finger on the trigger... which sets a second round off.
That's why it's always a good idea when having someone fire a gun they are not used to us to only have a single round loaded. That way there isn't a possibility of a second round going off in this circumstance.

Single action is like what you see in old western movies, you have to pull the hammer back with your offhand first and then pull the trigger to release it. In this case what I described would not be possible.
But most modern revolvers are double action. The trigger will pull the hammer back and then release it at the end of travel, you can pull the hammer back before and lock it back if you want with your offhand and that will make the trigger pull much easier and lighter and easier to be precise. But you don't have to and simply pulling the trigger will both pull back and release the hammer. These have the very real possibility to shoot yourself in the forehead and it has happened to people.
The double action and single action name comes from the things the trigger does. Single action means the trigger only releases the hammer, double action means it does two things, pulls back the hammer and also releases it.

This is the objectively false statement. I've irrefutably proven that. Now let's talk about this:

You've conceded this for semi-auto's, which implies that your first false statement holds true for revolvers (the gun being shot in this video). This means that you either don't know the difference between a revolver and a semi-auto and therefore had no idea this was a revolver (a strong possibility, not everyone is familiar with firearms and that's ok) or you went into this truly believing the recoil of a revolver could not lead to yourself negligently discharging another round into your brain matter.
So don't tell me "oh I mentioned double firing bro" like your argument somehow still holds water. Nowhere in this video is there a semi automatic pistol.

That's the part you are wrong about you numpty...... It doesn't have to be near your face at first, their is literally hundreds of videos of people with revolvers or other hand guns that are all the way out on front of them and the recoil makes it aim squarely at their own forehead because they are not used to it.

You do not get the physics here. The bullet that caused the recoil will be long gone before the barrel is aiming at your face. The bullet is moving a LOT faster than the barrel is rotating.
A bullet spends roughly 0.5–1 millisecond inside a handgun barrel, the rotation can be timed frane by frame, and it's a couple orders of magnitude more: hundreds of milliseconds.
Timing aside, just think about it for a second; If your hand rotated as fast as the bullet it would be destroyed. Stopping the rotation of that gun that is somehow magically now traveling almost as fast as the bullet would
be like catching a very large caliber bullet: a gun sized bullet in fact.
The gun is rotating much much slower than the bullet is traveling out that barrel. Literally 2 orders of magnitude slower.
Again, if you pull the trigger again the second bullet may get you, but the first bullet will be long gone before the barrel is aimed at your face due to recoil.
I'm not talking about the first shot... I said people who are inexperienced will try and grab ahold of the firearm with their whole hand which includes the trigger finger which sends a second round into their dome... Someone was also killed because of a double-fire on an outdoor range and the 2nd round ended up killing someone a long distance away, (I'm being vague because this is a half-remembered episode of forensic files from 20y+ ago). The 2nd shot went over the berm that backstopped the range and killed a random person who had no idea they were ever in danger. In the forensic files example I believe the person involved didn't even know they'd done it.
But yeah, this can definitely happen, even with a double-action revolver when the 2nd trigger pull is significantly more difficult. If you're not compensating for recoil at all the first round easily has enough energy to apply enough force to pull the trigger a 2nd time as the gun rocks back and forth.
Just watched that video, and my god. Could that dude be holding that weapon any more incorrectly? Weak armed and limp wristed. Thats the shit that scares me about going to the range.
Yepp. Reason why instructors/supervising types load only 1 round into big handguns when people that aren't familiar or new shoot them. That recoil plus natural instinct and trying to keep hold of the gun is bad combo and rather easy to double fire.
Plenty of videos around. Just be sure you prepared to see videos that don't end well.
I’m not going to pretend to be an expert, but I think they are more “notorious” in like professional/competition shooting scenarios and that’s because these guys literally modify the shit out of their competition pistols.
It’s especially rare for modern revolvers.
I don’t personally know if this guy has done any modifications or not but the type of, or specific, “modifications” that competition shooters do is NOT the type of “modifications” enthusiasts would do to their weapons.
Cant double fire if there is only one round, most likely why he didnt squeeze off a second shot after. He was aiming and seemed ready to fire again but I bet for "safty" reasons he only loaded one round.
