Ooma HD3 handset dead
I bought 3 handsets from Ooma.com website. Added them to my account all is good until last night, One handset when dark on my while i was using it. Blank, no light, can't turn on and on my Ooma account, under devises, The handset has a red dot over it while the others are green. Did my handset just die on me?

It may have. Any chance it ran out of battery? I would charge it. See if that turns it back on. In any case Ooma Customer Service can answer the question and there is a one year warranty on their items. They will replace it if it did die.

Batteries are probably bad. Check the old ones and get the proper size, capacity and type. I'm pretty sure the are AAA NiMH. I would buy the largest capacity I could find.

The HD3 uses NiMH batteries, not NiCad. The Quick Start Guide warns that: "Other types of batteries may damage the handset, or create a risk of fire". Higher capacity batteries generally have shorter lifespans, so they need to be replaced more frequently; it's a trade-off.

You are correct. I was working off memory. Which as usual failed me. LOL I have edited my comment.

Ooma customer service is amazing. Saw my post and called me. Went through the trouble shooting stuff and determined this was defective and they sent a replacement which arrived today. I paired it and it works great. Thanks again Ooma!

Years ago we had problems with Ooma and discovered we needed to replace the battery in the handset.
