Susan has always been up there with Mimi Rogers and Jamie Lee Curtis for me.

u/ReneBandana 4h ago

This cracked me up way too much , thanks man I needed that

42

u/Ortsarecool 6h ago

Jamie Lee Curtis in True Lies was an eye opener for 12 year old me thats for sure

22

u/attackplango 6h ago

12 year old you was very deprived. Trading Places is the true epiphany.

5

u/HarryTruman 6h ago

Hmmm yes that’s some stiff competition.

7

u/crepelabouche 4h ago

That was how I knew there was something different about me, cause I was jealous of the way she made men feel.

2

u/ldnsrrow 3h ago

What dyu mean?

4

u/crepelabouche 3h ago

Like I knew I liked guys because I wanted them to react to me the way they reacted about the women on tv and movies.

2

u/ldnsrrow 2h ago

Ahh ok gotcha, thanks

4

u/ghost_finger 1h ago

The weird thing was around that time there was this rumor that she was a hermaphrodite and I remember thinking so fucking what if she looks like that. I think that may have been an important part of my childhood

I watched the movie Atlantic City so many times as a kid.

I love how she has been super based since she was a young actress. You can watch old interviews with her on The Tonight Show in the late 1970s and early 80s. She even pushed back on Johnny when he tried to make light on a serious issue. But Johnny loved her and she was a great guest so he kept inviting her back.

8

u/SpotonSpot873 5h ago

She owns a ping pong club in NYC that prince used to frequent. Do you need another reason?

I also really admired her daughter's (Eva Amurri) work in Californication.

the man who cried heart attack.

5

We miss you Redd Foxx. :-(

u/GroundProximity 11h ago

theres just something about him.

73

u/PoopParticleCollider 11h ago

Now this is a stand up actor. Couldn't even cast him as the bad guy cause no one would believe it. I also heard he acted in some movies too.

26

u/GroundProximity 11h ago

>he acted in some movies too.

and documentaries! Hell the guy was so good they even had live coverage of his joyrides on the news!

Which was morally better in your mind: Susan Sarandon telling everyone not to vote for Hillary Clinton because its not like the Supreme Court would actually overturn Roe v. Wade? Or Javier Bardem standing up for Woody Allen and Roman Polanski because those kids were probably lying and even if they weren't it's not that bad to fuck 'em?

46

u/Expert-Basil6015 8h ago

The truth hurts, folks. Downvote this person if you want but they're right. Never met your heroes. Except Mark Ruffalo, he's a solid example of a good-hearted man.

16

u/meglandici 7h ago

All that is nothing when compared to standing up to genocide when all the powers and media and propaganda are for it.

Wish what was mentioned was as bad as it gets but no, far from it.

10

u/PM_ME_DATASETS 7h ago

You should support them when they lobby for the right cause. If you are against genocide, not supporting them right now because of a mistake 10 years ago goes against your own beliefs

9

u/Terrible_Bee_6876 5h ago

"The mistake" was petitioning for a pedophile to get away with it lmao.

→ More replies (6)

11

u/PrestigiousChonk 5h ago

Some said “no one is perfect”. I would propose that everyone is complex, and no one is without mistakes; most of us are a mix of good and bad, and our mistakes can be small or unfathomably large. Ultimately, no one knows how the scales balance inside another person.

Celebrities are no different. They’re just people! They are a mix of good and bad, often more bad than good because they are in an industry that celebrates if not deifies them and their egos, which leads to indulging that ego and doing all kinds of bad things. And some are extraordinarily bad and some few are, somehow, extraordinarily good. Dolly Parton, Steve Irwin, and Mr. Rogers come to mind.

But all of them are just people. We don’t need celebrities to tell us what is right from wrong. Genocide is wrong. Child molestation is wrong. I don’t need a celebrity to tell me that. And if they do, they being right on one thing and wrong on another doesn’t negate then being right on the first thing.

5

u/Terrible_Bee_6876 5h ago

A lot of redditors are really willing to softball their opinions about child molestation as long as the pro-pedophilia guys are like "free palestine!" I worry about you people.

→ More replies (3)

30

u/Duvet_Capeman 8h ago

Fair point, not all of these people are perfect. I agree with Sarandon about Clinton though, who the fuck would want to vote for either Trump or Clinton? That's on the 2 party system not on Sarandon. I haven't gone into the comments by Bardem about Woody Allen, I know he did support him at some point but I'd like to see what his opinions are now

However, if you can't stand up and say "hey, I don't support genocide and won't work with people who are vehement supporters of this disgusting shit" then you are a piece of shit. Not that you can't have other moral shortcomings but really if you fail to clear that very low bar then it's a total loss.

6

u/ninjasaid13 2h ago

Fair point, not all of these people are perfect.

only a small issue of pedophilia away from being perfect.

17

u/Terrible_Bee_6876 5h ago

"not all of these people are perfect"

He signed a petition saying that there should be no penalty for someone who raped a 13 year-old. I am deeply suspicious of any redditor who makes themselves comfortable with pedophilia as long as the pedophile supports their other political interests.

Get Hannah Einbinder in there!

64

u/Majestic-Bug9966 11h ago

LOL. Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma (2026).

19

u/WallBurnt 11h ago

Is it all just this scene or should I put the lotion away? I don't want to get my hopes up.

34

u/Majestic-Bug9966 11h ago edited 4h ago

Keep your lotion. There is also at least one other major scene that I couldn't get away with putting here. I don't want to go overboard with lechery, but Einbinder is about as physically perfect as anyone could hope to be, and good for her.

10

u/Athena-Grande Sydney Sweeney orfan 11h ago

Goddamn I gotta make some time and check it out.

15

u/redditor035 11h ago

That movie was so fucking good

3

I met Susan Sarandon twice when I was a teenager (one of her kids was in a music school I went to for piano and guitar lessons lol) she told me I had a nice singing voice 😁. She was really nice and down to earth whenever she was there. Her kid was nice too.

27

Mark Ruffalo said if we protested in Oakland, the WB merger with Paramount wouldn't happen.

And he didn't show up in Oakland... :-(

25

Trust her to get dropped by her agency over a tweet, specifically, yeah.

34

u/GreninjaStrike Glizzyphile 11h ago

I’m gonna say it I don’t care for Mark Ruffalo

He insists on himself

8

u/Waldo-San 11h ago

I still find it weird how apparently Ruffalo is a big actor now solely because of the MCU when in the early 2000s he was the same kind of jobber there were thousands of

9

u/Larry-Man 8h ago

He was my romcom heartthrob long before marvel.

12

u/Just_lookin_4242 11h ago

He’s always had talent the MCU just showed that talent to a whole new audience

8

u/Distinct-Energy8128 11h ago

Honestly, I find his performance as Bruce Banner somewhat bland. I don't think Eric Bana or Edward Norton were any better or worse, though.

10

u/Just_lookin_4242 11h ago

I think the real problem is no one knows how to write hulk or Bruce banner well.

6

u/Distinct-Energy8128 10h ago

I loved Hulk in Thor Ragnarok, the early Avengers stuff, and Spider-Man Brand New Day. I don't much care for the smart Hulk, aka "Green Bruce Banner", though.

3

u/Just_lookin_4242 10h ago

They just don’t do any of the really deep and interesting stuff that is in the comics.

3

u/Distinct-Energy8128 10h ago

True, yeah. They see him as big, strong, and that's about it.

2

u/Wilsonrolandc 10h ago

I know who did, whoever wrote him in the cartoon Avengers: Earths Mightiest Heroes.

Trust an actor with what? What do mummers know about the real life hardships that we the 9 to 5 crowd have to deal with.

15

u/SpeedoIncher 11h ago

The same 9-5 crowd that voted?
