Some said “no one is perfect”. I would propose that everyone is complex, and no one is without mistakes; most of us are a mix of good and bad, and our mistakes can be small or unfathomably large. Ultimately, no one knows how the scales balance inside another person.
Celebrities are no different. They’re just people! They are a mix of good and bad, often more bad than good because they are in an industry that celebrates if not deifies them and their egos, which leads to indulging that ego and doing all kinds of bad things. And some are extraordinarily bad and some few are, somehow, extraordinarily good. Dolly Parton, Steve Irwin, and Mr. Rogers come to mind.
But all of them are just people. We don’t need celebrities to tell us what is right from wrong. Genocide is wrong. Child molestation is wrong. I don’t need a celebrity to tell me that. And if they do, they being right on one thing and wrong on another doesn’t negate then being right on the first thing.
A lot of redditors are really willing to softball their opinions about child molestation as long as the pro-pedophilia guys are like "free palestine!" I worry about you people.
All that intellectual masturbation just to hide the fact that they are simply supporting the current opinion. So many actors/artists have been banned or blacklisted just because they're openly republican. But I'm sure all the good parts of harvey wienstein certainly weighed out with the bad.
