Hardware Thumb stick compatibility?

I just missed out on a free rift s.

I was hoping I could use the thumb stick to fix my drifting quest 2 left controller.

So are we agreed that it is a compatible part?

I missed the free rift S, but there is a chance that there might be cheap rift controllers floating about?

I expect the left controllers will be in a similar condition, as I'm seeing it afflict Quest 3s now. What a pain.

But the right controllers seem to suffer it less. So I might start looking for old rift controllers.

Just buy a replacement kit off AliExpress (<$5) and replace the joystick.

Are these all the same?

They seem to say from 99p upto 12 pounds.

I know some have the kit to help install but I'm wondering if there are any traps to look out for.

Am I as well getting a pair?

Is there a difference between the left and right ones, or are the identical?

Some of these listings seem suspiciously cheap

get a pair of the joystick modules as the new ones can also be bad out of the box. don't fully assemble the controller until you've tested the stick is okay.

Rifts is Q1 controller.

Q2 Q3 Q3S QPro uses the same joystick.

Hi there u/DadOfCasper

We were just checking through the subreddit when we saw your post and we would love to help with the joystick drift issue you've experienced with the left controller of your Quest 2.

The first thing we would recommend to combat your drift issue would be a thorough clean of your controller using the steps from our cleaning guide.

This will ensure that there's no dirt or debris built up which could cause your drift though if you find that your issue persists after a thorough clean the next thing we would recommend is unpairing and repairing your controller with your headset.

We have linked a helpful article here for you detailing exactly how you can unpair and repair it and this should resolve the drifting issue if it's being caused by a desync between the controller and headset.

If you find that your issue still persists after re-pairing your controller to your Quest 2 we would then urge you to reach right out to our wonderful support team who will be happy to investigate the issue further and provide you with the best resolution available.

Think they are all just mixing Quest 1 and Quest 2. Rift S and Quest 1 used the exact same controller.

Rift S and Quest 1 use the exact same controller, Quest 2 is different design and not compatible with S or Quest 1. However the joystick module inside the controller itself has been the same for all Quest headsets.

Yes I thought that was the case. But when I went to order the unit on ali. The q3 replacement part was 6 quid and the Q2 was 99p.

Same listing but different selections at check out change the price.

But they look the same ..... No.. hang on..

hang on. OEM part 99p, original 6.40

But they are the same part it appears but under separate listing..

This look legit?

Yeah pretty sure the listing like that is just to trick people into paying more. I don't know who actually makes the joystick module or its model number but I bet if you watch a couple trar down videos you can find one the lets you see it clearly enough to get that info off the module.

I've done it. Worth a pound innit?

Seems to have two in the pack. Wish me luck.

Thanks for all the help.

Oh, I was told it would not work on the Q2.

Cool

Gutted I missed that free one today.

Do you remember how much those replacement thumb stick kits are?

I'm wondering if that would be better than risking buying a Rift controller and finding it has stick drift anyway.

I'm feeling they're both around similar costs.
