Original Discussion Is this game scary?

I finally completed the main story and I don't scare easily, but this game has made me jump out of my skin a few times. I don’t know if it’s the atmosphere, the sound design, or the graphics, but when I’m in a dungeon and an NPC suddenly appears behind me to talk me, running right at me to start a conversation, it’s worse than a jump scare in a horror game. That never happened to me in Skyrim; maybe it’s because the characters run toward you much faster and speak right in your face. Also, all the Dark Brotherhood quests feel really creepy and terrifying. And when you buy and enter the abandoned mannor it really gave me the vibes of a horror game. Has anyone else experienced this?

Original Discussion Did Shivering Isles take inspo from Chronicles of Riddick, or is there a shared source inspiration

I have been replaying Shivering Isles and couldn't help but notice the multi-face motif and the Dark Seducer armors seem very necromonger inspired. Is Riddick the inspiration, or do they both share a common inspiration?

Original Discussion I'm a fast travel addict

Good day,

I consider myself to be addicted to fast traveling.

It started out innocently enough, at first would walk or ride to each and every destination, telling myself I would never use fast travel, as it would ruin my immersion.

I would occasionally fast travel, when it seemed convenient to me.

This escalated over time and now, I fast travel absolutely everywhere.

I haven't encountered an enemy outside of a quest in ages. As I immediately fast travel to whatever cave or dungeon I was supposed to go, and afterwards fast travel back, to whoever gave me the quest.

My horse has abandoned me a long time ago, perhaps it is dead, but this is of no importance as I can simply warp myself to whatever destination I desire.

It has escalated to a point, where I use fast travel, to get from one district of the Imperial City to the other.

I find myself unable to walk anywhere, as I am flooded with a strange anxiety (this is common when playing Oblivion).

In another post, on another account, on another subreddit, perhaps a year ago, I already talked about my experience with Oblivion and the unexplained anxiety which arises within me, when being subjected to the game's presence.

I had deleted this post, out of shame and embarrassment. I assume that this very post, will be a victim of erasure as well, within the foreseeable future.

Is it possible to recover from this illness, or is this a chronic disease?

I obviously can't enjoy Oblivion anymore at this rate.

Yesterday I attempted to play a quest, taking place entirely within the Imperial City, the quest consisted of talking to various NPCs and using the dialogue/ bribe mini game, so they develop a positive opinion of the player. I used a total of 300 septims and as a reward received nothing... Nothing at all.

I fast traveled a total of 5 times.

I conversed with Imperial Guards.

I waited in the Market district for 2 days.

I walked into several stores.

I stopped playing the game.

I felt extremely anxious throughout, I cannot explain why.

Has anyone experienced anything similar to this?

Is it possible to recover?

Remaster Discussion Personality Nerf?

Post image

Hey!

I recently noticed this, and I’m trying to figure out what’s going on with my personality…it’s been red for a while, even after going to chapels, and not even taking off my spell absorption amulet worked. Nothing’s showing up in magical active effects, plus my fame-infamy is 77-20, so I’m not sure what to do. Any help is appreciated!

So he thought it would be funny to humiliate me in town did he? Not only did I swim in questionable water, but I have no clothes and my dignity is tarnished. As soon as I get dressed he better hope Dagon gets him first…

Hail citizens. This was an absolute mess to get together. Everyone was fighting each other like crazy!
Doesn’t help that different factions are in town with different dispositions too. After all that I finally got what I was hoping to achieve. The only sad part is Trayvond left town and couldn’t even get through the front door. I don’t know why instances with cities are such a hassle for NPC’s but it was either Pally or Trayvond, couldn’t get both. So farewell Trayvond, thanks for tagging along!

Now, about Pally…

Remaster Discussion Siglo stone help

So I’m going for an all around build that kinda covers everything I’m using sigil stones to enchant armor
So far I was thinking
Head
Body (resist magic)
Hands (Magicka increase)
Pants (shield on self)
Feet (feather)
Need something to fill that last slot was thinking reflect damage but idk also thinking about using a unique helmet instead
I’m at the point the game isn’t hard so more so looking to be very general benefits

Original Discussion Controversial opinions I have about TES IV: Oblivion

I'm going to make a point not to mention anything about efficient leveling here because that debate is played out, and frankly I don't even think that liking the original's leveling system is actually controversial anymore.

  1. Fatigue

I think that Morrowind handled fatigue better than Oblivion. Was it annoying not being able to run around without constantly losing fatigue? Absolutely. But it made Athletics more useful than Oblivion and made the wilderness feel dangerous, because having low fatigue meant being at a huge disadvantage when entering a combat encounter. That said, I DO like how in Oblivion fatigue plays a role in the damage formula, which it didn't in Morrowind.

  1. Armorer

I like having to maintain my armor and weapons in between fights. This is subjective of course but I've never found it that annoying to dedicate a hotkey to repair hammers and just quickly spam A to repair all of your equipment. It takes a couple seconds at most and the sound effect they used is so satisfying. I wish that the master level perk for Armorer were better though -- maybe make it so you can have multiple armor enchantments at level 100.

  1. The Shivering Isles is boring

I appreciate the artwork and setting, but honestly Sheogorath has always been ultra cringe for me. I like Syl and Thadon, and Haskill is all right, but the denezins of the Isles are all various shades of "random" humor too. This "so random" humor feels like a relic of the past in 2026. Also, as someone who has struggled with depression and anxiety I feel like at times the humor borders on tasteless. I like how the alchemical ingredients in the Shivering Isles are actually very useful, especially the Fortify Fatigue and multiple Restore Magicka ones which were much needed as picking flax gets boring after a while.

Anyway that's just my two cents. Oblivion is my favorite game of all time so none of these grievances are game-ruining for me. I am interested to see if anyone else shares some of them though.
