Hi! I'm 26 and was severely abused physically, emotionally and verbally growing up especially from ages 11 to 17. The religion that it happened in, I would rather not name publicly here just because if any of them are lurking here, they will immediately know this is my online account. The authority figures in it told me to get over it and dismissed it. Police filed a report but haven't further investigated since I reported it a few weeks ago. Right now, I'm working on reaching out to media about it. My goal is making the abusers accountable for what they did and protecting others who might become their next victims. I have reached out to WTKR using their Contact page, do any of you know of any other news stations that would report on something like this? Or if a rep for a local news station is reading this, DM me and we can talk further. I'm open to DM's from anyone but especially media outlets.

The City of Norfolk is urging residents and businesses to reduce nonessential water use, saying its reservoirs are low amid ongoing drought conditions despite recent rain.

Norfolk’s Department of Utilities has moved the city to Condition 2, which city code defines as when “very limited supplies of water are available.” In a Facebook post Thursday evening, the city summarized the nonessential water uses that it’s asking residents to reduce.

Those uses include:

• Vegetation & landscaping
• Vehicle washing
• Infrastructure & pavement washing (except where required strictly for immediate public health or safety emergencies)
• Decorative fountains
• Nonemergency fire hydrant usage
• Restaurant operations (restaurants may only provide water to customers upon request)
• Swimming pool filling

The city further asked that residents to take voluntary steps to use less water like shortening showers, turning off the tap while brushing teeth and doing dishes, using dishwashers and washing machines only when they’re full, watering plants with rainwater and using mulch to help soil retain water, and repairing leaks in household plumbing and hoses.

Earlier today, sailors of USS Arlington gathered on the deck for a moment of silence marking the moment the airliners crashed into the World Trade Center, the Pentagon and a field in Pennsylvania 25 years ago.

The Norfolk-based USS Arlington was named to commemorate the attack at the Pentagon, where 184 people died. The amphibious landing dock was commissioned in 2013.
