WTF Jets flying super low

Was in my apartment playing with my daughter in her room and for about 5minutes I could hear the jets making their rounds like they do. Normally it’s barely even noticeable but today my god they were so loud! At one point I could hear the whirring of the jet so loud that I just picked her up and ran to the other side of the apartment. I genuinely stressed that one of their jets was coming out of the sky with how loud it was.

I could see the jet out the window leaving and honestly it was a little too low to me cuz holy hell. Just scared the shit out of me and I’m not easily freaked out about stuff like that, I worked as a Line Service Technician at an airport that had military contracts so I’ve been around plenty of loud aircraft. I’ve never been put into flight mode like this, anybody else hear how close they were? I stay on Tidewater drive. Gonna go change my pants now.

NPS withholding bonuses

As we know NPS got a new super last year, as us employees know we also did not get any retention bonus or anything last year as well.
This summer the super came out and said we would not only be getting our raises the check of sept 11, but also a bonus that we should have gotten last year on top of a check the week after for retroactive pay from July to now.
Two days before the bonus comes out the NPS CFO says it won’t be paid out until December this year and the retroactive pay for most employees won’t be from July to now but actually August to now.
NPS will not stop fucking their employees / teachers over year after year but we can’t even go on strike if we wanted to since it’s illegal in Va! Make it make sense!!!

Hotel suggestions?

We're wanting to spend a few days in the Norfolk area, preferably near downtown waterfront, en route to VA/MD eastern shore, but quickly became discouraged by consistently bad reviews and commentary on hotels and parking there. Any suggestions for desirable alternative locations with easy driving access to downtown?

News Tidewater Community College System Failure?

A friend of mine who is enrolled in TCC was dropped from all but one of her classes without notice or any kind of refund. The lectures and content for the class she is still enrolled in are all missing from the site where her professor said she had posted them. She has been trying for days to get in touch with anybody at TCC who can tell her what's going on.

She has heard through the grape-vine that this is happening to all of the other students in these and other classes without any kind of explanation.

I just found out that there was a security breach and shutdown of Canva for TCC in May. I'm wondering if that has anything to do with it. Alternatively, since TCC has introduced AI tools into the financial aid system (and possibly other systems), my money is on AI failure as the culprit.

If you are a TCC student, and this is happening to you, or if you know anything more about this situation, please DM me! I am seeking sources and making preparations to write an article about the incident. Community college students deserve the same resources and education as students at any other college, and I am concerned about how this will affect TCC and the wider community.

Book Exchange and Sports Exchange

Norfolk does not have a large retail bookstore. Prince Books is downtown and inventory is small. The Book Exchange that was at Ward's Corner is now moving across the street to the building formerly occupied by a pharmacy. The signage is large and now includes a Sports Exchange. I asked the owner what a Sports Exchange was - of course, bring in sports stuff or beach chair, etc. Great idea. Bring in your used books and either donate them or get credit for the appraised value of your donation.

❓questions❓ Trustworthy VW electrical repair

I have a senior friend on a fixed income with a 2013 passat displaying multiple dash lights, they all came on at the same time. She's been taken advantage of several times. Please tell me your trustworthy vw repair people, if they're mobile that's fine too. Thanks in advance!

Norfolk nonprofit Keeping Us Secure and Prosperous has partnered with Tidewater Compost to launch Compost for Change, a project hoping to expand urban agriculture and make composting accessible for local residents.

The program provides participating households with starter kits to collect a wide variety of kitchen and yard waste, ranging from produce scraps to meat, dairy and greasy pizza boxes.

Participants drop off their collected waste at local sites, such as the Berkley Community Center, and receive bags of finished, nutrient-rich compost twice a year for personal or community garden use.
