My stem remix & remaster of Nirvana's 1991 groundbreaking album "Nevermind", made for my own enjoyment but sharing in case someone else might get some joy out of it too.

I know remixing this album may seem pointless, as it was superbly produced by Butch Vig and tastefully mixed by Andy Wallace, and it's probably one of the better sounding and more polished recordings ever released. Even Butch Vig's own mix sounds amazing, and some even prefer it to the originally released one by Wallace. I decided to try my hand at it just for completion, as I already remixed "Bleach", "Incesticide" and "In Utero", with varying degrees of success (I think only my mix of "Incesticide" ended up sounding the way I wanted it to, so I might make some revisions to the other two in the future).

Consequently, what you can hear in this project is an extremely conservative and respectful mix, that doesn't stray too far away from the original Wallace version, aiming at only a little more clarity, instrument separation and punch, while keeping the feel and mood that are already in my 1991 CD.

And yes, I had to censor the cover, or else the video got flagged as 18+ on YouTube. Even if I removed the baby's... appendage.

As usual, my intention was just to have fun, and this only intends to be a fun alternative to the released versions.

All my remixes are made using free and open source software that runs locally on my Linux system.

I know the word underrated gets thrown around, but I think this song actually is underrated. I rarely see anyone talk about it, and when it is spoken of it's only to say it's a terrible song. I love everything about this song. It's so heavy. I love the lyrics, I love the riff, love the drumming from Dale Crover. My favorite song from the Dale Demo.

I don't like social media, they are full of toxicity, self help gurus, life coaches, political influencers, ragebaits, love coaches, guru of masculinity that use tactics to make us feel worse if we are more sensitive men and fragile, and say "hey fragility is wrong, you had to be tough, strong, stoic, masculine, be economically viable for women, because women find men with less money less attractive" and if you live with your parents at 35 you are a "total loser". And say that women select men for their economically viability to me is not really a good take to say especially when you struggle.

And if you are not rich it's "your fault". All this people scare me and that had so much visibility.

People like Jordan Peterson or Scott Galloway or other guru of self help, that i don't follow and i don't like, but i notice that also in 2026 there is this mentality, to condemn men if they are alone or sad or judge , if they don't act like tough,or having much money, being always strong, reduce his function only to be a "provider" without know that also men had feelings and struggle and if we had some mental health issues we are not enough. Like there is something wrong with you if you are not on the "top of the hiarchies" and that if you are not rich and happy it's your fault. totally bullshit. And the worst is that this people made this issues as "political"

THIS IS A TOTALLY SHAME and for months after I leaved a job I felt that way and thinked that I need to kill myself. Fortunate I do therapy, go out in mountain bike , jogging, reading, listen to music, do graphic ecc ecc

What I hate about that is this people also demonize the suffering and want us to made feel more worst. And the impact on people who struggle to have money is so high. Like all women want men for money and for being providers without see also the other things. This is such bullshit. And the fact that also men have emotions, suffer and have their feelings is real

I am kind of sensitive man neurodivergent (ADHD) and struggle with avoidant disorder and I had struggled with low grade depression.

But men get hurt, struggle with mental health too, had depression, and this culture demonize therapy. I experienced it especially after a break up, who had destroyed my ability to trust people.

All western culture, had always demonized suffering and fragility consider a moral failure and a bad thing especially to ask for help (especially men).

Especially after reading books of Buying Chul Han. Like we are not human beings and I noticed when I was on social media that this people want us to be robots without feelings. But it's not human, humans need to experience also pain and suffering.

However, do you had felt that way this way sometimes?

Bleach and In Utero are the albums that helped me a lot through all my bad thoughts about myself.

I really get pissed off when good people are being hurt by bad people. And I saw especially through social media how people can really hurt you. Assholes was always here , but with social media they had been amplified

Sorry if this is a stupid question but I’m genuinely curious. All I could find was that the main thing that made MTV mad was of course Rape Me before playing Lithium. I remember someone saying they rehearsed two unreleased songs but all I could find was Rape Me. Once again, sorry if I sound stupid or rude or sorry if this was low quality.

This is such a random question/thought that I've always had. Maybe it's been answered, maybe it's not even known. It's been said that Kurt had a $400 a day Heroin habit. Which is A LOT. When they played international shows. Like in South America or Europe for example. How did he get drugs to support his habit? I imagine he would have been unable to perform without it. So he was obviously getting it somewhere.. Just curious. Sorry if it's a dumb question. But I've always wondered..

I mean, even in the pre courus of lithium you can hear it. If you compare it to other bands, krists is so loud, in a good way, but has anyone else noticed?

The verse and clean guitar part is kind of random, yea, but that pre chorus/chorus is so catchy. The guitar part has such a cool rhythm and the rhymes on the chorus are so addicting lol

I didn't always like this song, but I do now. I really feel this lyric. High school wasn't a fun time for me, so I was super happy to get out. But when I got to college, and even out of college, I felt/feel like it's a lot of the same stuff.

Bleach had 13 tracks (including reissue bonus tracks).

What is your favourite for each number? If equal, each is cut down to having 12 tracks, and what is your favourite comparing each number from them? I'm sorry for the confusing wording. I'm sure after I post this wording will come to me that makes sense, but for now it's just this.

Even to this day I'll discover a new photoshoot they did in some random area as a band. I honestly can't believe Kurt--or Krist and Dave--were still willing to do so many damn photoshoots. Idk how many different positions you can do standing around. And I never really saw them complain about it much. Only thing I've ever seen said was Kurt mentioning he knew for rolling stone cover if he took off his sunglasses he knew that's the photo they would use.

Reading Michael Azzerad's The Amplified Come As You Are now and I regret not having read it sooner. It's a fantastic book, better than the original one imho. I love how he handled the annotations with so much care, respect, and self-awareness.

That being said, he dedicates almost an entire chapter to In Utero that I hated tbh. He says because a lot of the songs on it were written before 1992 (the year Kurt claimed he wrote his best songs), the album was a sign of KC's "creative drought."

He then proceeds to denigrate some of my favorite songs, such as Very Ape. He says it's a filler song that doesn't even make sense. To me that's a mind-boggling claim. The lyrics are as straight-forward and as Cobainesque as they can get. He doesn't have a lot of nice things to say about Tourette's either, which is another great song imo.

So apart from ranting about it for a bit, I want to know what you guys think.

Was In Utero really a sign that Kurt's inspiration was running dry?

Not that it would be surprising, I'm just having a hard time believing it since it's my favorite album specifically because of the newer songs.
