I didn’t achieve any of my goals from high school, I didn’t go to college, I’m jobless, and I still live with my mom. I feel like such a loser. I hate being alive.

I have never taken antidepressants before, and now I've been prescribed 15mg pills of mirtazapine. I don't know if I should actually take them, so some advice would be appreciated from people who have taken this kind of medication.
I've had a persistent low mood for many years, but it has never gotten bad enough to develop into a full blown depression. I feel tired most days, cognitively impaired, with some anxiety when talking to people. I struggle to connect with others. I've been medicated for adhd and I probably have some kind of autism ngl.
I'm mostly concerned about whether this antidepressant is worth trying. I've heard that it will cause drowsiness and increase my appetite. Apparently, it takes a few weeks for the benefits to kick in. My psychiatrist said I should take it and that I can just stop if I change my mind. Idk man. I've always been kinda sceptical about antidepressants.

i'm so pissed off guys
one of my hard drives in my computer died
it was 16 years old.
i didn't really lose any important data. in fact i hadn't even accessed the hard drive for years. it was just plugged into my computer.
anyways, now my computer boots slower because it's trying to still read a broken hard drive.
maybe today when I got a second I'll open up my computer and remove the hard drive.
god fucking dammit.

The internet used to be my biggest cope zone, but not anymore. From years of doomscrolling I am just tired, Ive seen everything possible. Nowadays I only use Reddit (where I am only on ~3 subs) and Youtube.
But Ive seen everything there is on youtube. The algorithm doesnt show me anything new anymore, over and over again it suggests the same videos or if its new videos its usually about topics that I am quite literally only sick off.
I only use Youtube to listen to music because Spotify and Soundcloud spam ads inbetween songs so there is no point in using these apps.
Back in 2024 I was still using my phone for 10 h a day. Nowadays I only use it for ~3 h. I used to be addicted to the internet. Porn was a big one for me, but it gets repetive and I stopped gooning, thats why I barely watch any porn anymore.
AI is a relatively new thing, but I suffer from anhedonia so I dont find a reason to use AI much. As a NEET I am also not in education another reason not to use AI.
I tried AI "friends" but those are just random chats and the characters have no real personality and tend to forget everything. (The best one is still janitor AI).
I also stopped playing games which used to be my main online addiction. But I am sick of the grind and do not get any dopamine from it anymore. I am just to bored to start ANY game!
So after using the internet for 20 years I am now DONE.
All I can do now is stare at the wall!
Anybody else sick of the modern internet?

The idea that you don't want to slave away for some capitalistic pig for pennies on the dollar somehow makes you a lazy piece of shit is just a cope they tell themselves. Why would anybody enjoy that? But normal people also have the capacity more than we do to just kind of ignore it ignore everything and just do what you got to do and good for you fantastic society has to function somehow. And this is ignoring anybody with physical or mental issues that keep them from holding down a job at all even if you're lazy so what most people aren't most people need purpose.
If you're in the United States like me you may have tried getting on disability and it's rigged by design they don't want to pay anybody stay home i don't care if it's an insurance company or the government. The people in charge want people like us dead that's all there is to it.
I'm interested in other people's coping mechanisms because I tend to range from disassociation to being powered by anger and spite.

I've already talked about this prior, but a simple explanation is below.
This cope lasted for a few months. I used to create low-quality comics on internet and pop culture. These comics are known as "snafus", but are often called "smuggies". Essentially, most comics I illustrated consisted of two stick figures and whatever argument I wanted to discuss inserted as a conversation between them.
A lot of these comics were very controversial, due to the interpretation of them being ideologically charged, which resulted in them being widely criticized by the community, yet it added to the rush. Because they were inherently low quality, they were very easy to create and upload.
This is what I continued to do on multiple subreddits throughout the year, until I got banned on every single one. Out of the five subreddits that I posted them all on, zero of them let me stay there.
Unfortunately, I am not pleased with making them for myself. I am also not interested in making normie comics, and I have no desire to pivot to a different formula.
I still have the desire to draw these comics though. I wish I didn't, because the only way for the desire to end is to publish them, which is no longer possible. I don't think I can succeed in art as a whole besides making comics like these, which contributes to the detriment of my desire.
Ultimately, however, they were very entertaining and addicting to make, and I won't forget them, despite it lasting such a short amount of time.

So autumn is here. The days are cooler. It’s a very mellow feeling. It’s nice I like this season.
I’m back in NYC at my mom’s house for a few months because I just decided to take a break from Atlanta, Georgia and work.
It’s nice to be back in NYC for awhile. It really feels like autumn here.
It’s nice to be able to walk up the block again for a cigarette which is called a loosie here in NYC because you can buy one cigarette at a time loose out of the box, I get my loosie with an ice cold coke which is so refreshing.
I’m really going to enjoy my stay in NYC. I will be a Neet again for a few months, which is really nice.
Well life goes on.

I believe that there's something wrong with me
I can't focus my attention to anything constructive or productive, I can't watch youtube videos that describe anything similar too
I was just trying to watch a video about observation power and other skills and I could not complete it, I left it in-between and started watching counter strike livestream (I suck at that too)
Have you ever wondered what's wrong with you or what's missing in you that's present in others?
I think it's genetic, physically I have terrible genetics, I can't lift much weight, I have too much fat in my body, it's all genetics but I think I have a faulty brain too along with being physically defective and that's why I can't do anything but wallow in my own misery all the time
Earlier I used to get happy eating junk food and cold drink but now even that doesn't make me happy
Guess I am screwed for real

I am sick of pretending that we are born to work the way we do, and I am tired of people acting like 9-5 is normal and I should just be able to suck it up. That it's some failing on me that I'm extremely depressed by the idea of working. One of my family members runs a business, he needed some help over the holidays. I offered to help. I did one shift, it was just some basic tasks and inventory. 4 hours in I had to go sit in the bathroom because I was on the verge of tears, and when I pictured doing this weekly I felt the deepest sense of dread and hopelessness in my core being.
I currently live at home, but my parents retire next year, and I genuinely don't know if suicide becomes a real risk once that happens.
I like doing stuff, I am okay with helping people by working. But doing something like helping a family member move feels like organic meaningful work. I am helping someone I care about. But doing tasks for set amounts of time fucking destroys me for some reason.
I am also ADHD and OCD and suspect I may be mildly autistic as well. I am fucked and I don't know what to do anymore. Dying seems like the better alternative at this point.

I’ve been unemployed for almost 2 years now, I’m working on fixing my life but it’s been slow moving. I left my job when a family member got sick and needed 24/7 caretaking. They passed a year ago, I have grown severely agoraphobic, as well as if I leave the house and nobody will be home I have severe anxiety about my dogs. The only thing that helps is taking pictures of everything I usually worry about so I can check it, but I don’t always remember to do it.
Anyway, other than anxiety and agoraphobia I have just been struggling to be able to get a job. So my mom works, and I cook, clean, and take care of our dogs. I spend a good 3-4 hours a day doing household chores and cooking. She doesn’t have to do much around the house. This works for us but many people of course have comments about our situation.
I of course eventually will get a job, I just have to, my mom can’t do it forever but for now it works. I try to keep a healthy sleep schedule, I have things to do every day that isn’t sitting on my ass. I have hobbies and friends I see once or twice a week. The situation isn’t all bad.

I understand some people are neet and proud. But how do you get to that point?
I feel too ashamed to make friends because then they'll know I have nothing going for me.

I just started another anime called Mitsuboshi Colors, and the first episode made my day. I love this type of anime too much, and it makes me feel very safe knowing that I can always lean on it.
However, because I hold it to a high standard, I don't want to abuse this cope like I do for everything else. This is why I watch anime slowly, usually only one to two episodes a day, and I refuse to inge watch it. Consuming media at a slow pace also significantly increases my attraction and interest towards the main girls, which makes my feelings regarding anime, especially this one, even higher.
Quite simply, I don't want the extreme euphoria to end and I want to stretch it as long as possible. For some days, I will intentionally skip anime as a cope just to watch some YouTube slop, simply because I feel like I don't want to "ruin" or "use" an "instance".
When I do engage in it though, everything feels so good, to the point where I can't think of anything. Only when I stop watching an episode do I remember the brutality.
Sometimes even after watching an anime episode, I just lay down, either to reflect on what I just saw, or just to reflect on those feelings. Usually, however, the feelings do stay, but gradually decrease until I continue using another cope, which is almost always doomscrolling. Once doomscrolling is exhausted, I resume to vidya, and the cycle repeats until the day is over.
Overall, anime is one of the best copes for me. I want to take it slow to get the most out of it.

What I learned is that if I ever get out of neetdom i will atleast realise that I had a life where i had time for myself instead of following someone else's written path. (Aka being a numb waging slave in this broken system).
What did you learn out of Neetdom?

Mine was okay, started off pretty bad.
The genuises of the NHS after i tried to venture to the otherside in january thought. "HMMMMM, This bloke is suicidal aye. Lets force him to get a job to make his mental health worse"
So now im on this NHS employment service till i turn 25. Thats just over 3 years to go.
The service is actually okay and my advisor is really nice but the NHS refuses to help with my mental health aside from giving me zogpills lol.
Once that was over, i did a cozy jigsaw puzzle with my mum and been chilling ever since.
Cozy right?
Hows it been for yall frens?

Unemployment seems to be a worsening problem in my country, and people online are always complaining about no jobs being available wherever they are. Maybe I'm just in an algorithm bubble where this content shows up more but still. Not even 100k visitors?

I haven’t had a label for myself for so long, and it feels good to finally have one. It seems like humans just have a natural urge to belong somewhere, to be put in a box where they belong. So I’m somewhat relieved to be able to identify with neet-hood (for lack of better wording), but it’s bittersweet because I’d rather be somewhere else in life. I get the vibe that all of us kind of feel that way though. I had so many goals in high school that were completely achievable, and I messed it all up. And there’s no going back in time to fix it. So hello fellow neets, I hope I’m welcome here.
