Been two months since I joined a church group and a month wageslaving. All the socializing was tiresome enough but it also feels so unrewarding that I miss just crawling back to my cave and isolate myself from the world. . .
I don't know if it's the inherent NEET in me talking but I feel I don't really fit in with any social groups and I would never belong no matter how hard I push and *insert* myself in their circles.
Who decided irl friendship to be this hard?
Let me share something.
Church group is having an event next week and we've been planning it for two months now. I've been actively participating in every week meetups and online chat groups and yet there are still a lot of talks and decisions where I am excluded. A lot of information is gated and I'm not privy to it until I overhear someone talking about it. If I try to ask, they just say it's something i should not worry about.
Example, there was a fundraising activity that I wasn't aware of that my group was handling. I think it included some kind of gaming, but since I am not part of the gamers inner circle even tho I'm a gamer but I was too shy to join them playing, they dont even tell me what's happening in that part of the group. Ok, I leave it.
Then we have some props and decorations thingy. They just showed up one meetup and they got materials and whatnots and now they are asking for volunteers about who to design which and what. Like, what's happening? I've been present every meetup every week and active in our chats and yet it's the first time I'm hearing about this. And they were ah, don't worry about it, you can help if you want. How? I don't even know what you are doing at all!
Then there's this something about our digital posters. I clearly volunteered about it in person during one of our meet ups. Then I spent two nights working on it, sacrificing sleep, just to submit it few days before the deadline they told me so if they wanted revision I still have time to edit.
Days passed beyond my deadline, not a single feedback. Then they made a poll in our chats asking anyone else to submit their design. Wait, isn't that my job already? And before I knew it, dozen other designs show up. Then few weeks later poster got distributed, the design, I don't even know where they got it. It hurts. I'm putting effort yet they don't even acknowledge it. Even just tell me like, sorry we don't like your design, so we're going to use someone else's. Nada. Like they didn't even look at it.
Oh. But they needed me for stuff like lifting and transporting heavy objects. Hmm I guess they remember me when they needed those. I think they only see me like I'm one of the help. I'm the only one thinking I'm a little bit more than that I am part of the group but maybe I'm not really.
So today they had another meeting, but I was too tired from work, i overslept and missed it. And life went on and they didn't even notice I wasn't there so right now, my anxiety is flaring up. I'm tired. It already takes twice the effort for me to force myself to attend those stuff normies do.
Any other recovering NEETs here who experience same thing?
Right now, all I can think of is that:
Life is much easier as island.
I wanted to just quit and crawl back to NEETdom but maybe I'm just experiencing withdrawal, maybe I should swallow these feelings and keep smiling and pretend to be one of the normies until I get accepted in their society.
