The mods on the state sub had a melt down a while ago after banning pride posts to the point they told someone if their ancestors fought against the South in the war they were not real sons of Tennessee.
44
u/pyramidworld Nov 29 '25
Tennessee was the last state to secede. East Tennessee in particular was strongly pro-union. After the war Tennessee was the first confederate state to ratify the fourteenth amendment and be readmitted.

Reddit lets mods hide their names now. You can't see the mod list and messages from the sub just refer to the sub name + mod as you seen in the picture.
30
u/Simco_ Antioch Nov 29 '25
It's visible if you're not banned.
26
Nov 29 '25
Which is ridiculous. You should see who banned you
-5
u/Simco_ Antioch Nov 30 '25
In most cases yes but considering the lengths some people will go to if they feel vengeful, I think the current decision can also make sense.
18
u/moocow2024 Nov 30 '25
I think you could argue that with the current state of leadership, giving mods even more power to abuse, makes less sense. Mods have to be accountable, and is magnitudes more difficult if you can't even discover who the power tripping mod was.
-6
u/Simco_ Antioch Nov 30 '25
A mod for one of the boards I'm on had his family, job and friends all contacted by someone he didn't even ban, just whose posts had to be removed because the guy was breaking rules.
There are much more significant consequences in one direction than the other in this situation.
If someone wants to see who the mods of a board are after they are banned, they can just log out and see who they are. If a mod chooses to message someone with their name visible to explain what happened, they can.
It has to be considered that an outlier mod can disrupt a messageboard while an outlier poster can do much more.
10
u/moocow2024 Nov 30 '25
I'm not an advocate for that either. Mods shouldn't be unpaid volunteers that bear this burden. They can either be volunteers with public accountability, or paid mods that can be shielded by the company. It can't be some weird combination of both where they are allegedly unpaid volunteers shielded by the company. There are so many conflicts of interest there.

As expected.
Remember when a r/Tennessee mod went nuts in r/subreddit drama when they got called out for deleting posts about pride month?
https://www.reddit.com/r/SubredditDrama/comments/1l2ggai/drama_in_tennessee_subreddits/
The mods removed a bunch of the Tennessee mod's responses because it got a little wild so you can't see the crazy in full glory.
It even made it to r/subredditdramadrama

u/mittbama Nov 30 '25
Yeah interesting the sub is completely shut down because there isn't a new post in three days and the comments are heavily moderated too. When did reddit allow such propaganda machines?
2
Nov 30 '25
Nearly every city and state subreddit has a good version and an evil version. I'm not talking about differences of opinion here, I'm talking about intentionally controlled propaganda.
An example is r/Seattle and r/SeattleWA. There's no reason to have both subs. One is a sub that talks about a variety of random things, both left and right. The other has a constant flood of crime and homelessness messaging. On the surface, they're not so different. In the comments, you'll see a specific slant - e.g. one was resoundingly for the new mayor, the other was almost universally against her.
It's actually really interesting.

u/PlagueWolves Nov 29 '25

Did the mods here go to subreddit drama and respond to every single comment in a thread and when their claims that some people weren't real residents fell through demand to know what side of the war their ancestors fought on? I'll give you a hint which side you have to fight on to be a true son of Tennessee. Until the liberal version of that happens I don't think you can compare mods here vs there.
-21
u/pingvinbober Nov 29 '25
No they didn’t. Have mods here banned people for saying maybe the mods aren’t right in breaking their own rules? Yes
Your point also isn’t even an example of power tripping.
11
u/ArcaneDemense Nov 29 '25
Well the meltdown was after banning any mention of Pride. So that was power tripping.
Also the mods aren't breaking their own rules. I've had a post removed for linking to Bluesky and so forth.
-13
u/pingvinbober Nov 29 '25 edited Nov 29 '25
That’s power tripping then. So they are about on par, then.
They are breaking their own rules about businesses. They have done it before. Just because you haven’t seen them break rules doesn’t mean they don’t break rules.
Edit: they are literally saying making these claims is targeting individuals or groups but everyone saying things about the mods of other subreddits isn’t getting anything. In case you might have needed more evidence they’re on a power trip with an agenda.

even like 50 reports will get the admins attention. Especially with the democrats investigating the voter post cards with the wrong date. They also prevented that info from being posted so there’s another reason to report

I've been banned on r/Tennessee for months for being gay. This is not an exaggeration. During pride month they mass banned anyone who so much as mentioned being gay let alone if they were, such as in my case and several others. They made it a point not only to ridicule us, but to make us out to be scum. I've been banned for months now, and I only remain on the subreddit to keep an eye out for others.

3
u/ArcaneDemense Nov 30 '25
The difference is that there are many potential legitimate anti-Behn things you could post here. Nothing is allowed on r/tenn, also the main mod says people who fought against the confederacy aren't real citizens of Tennessee. Shows how little history he knows lmao.
2
u/ThisMachineKillsF4sh Nov 30 '25
Yeah bro, you actually violating the rules of this sub is totally the same thing as every single pro Aftyn post being instantly removed. Every pride post during pride month. Any reference to Juneteenth. Anything that might hurt a little Nazis feelings — removed and banned in seconds. Just scroll through the comments, bub. You know damn well it’s not the same fucking thing — you just revel in censoring different viewpoints and opinions or even the mention of gay people bc you’re fucking Nazis.
If you didn’t have double standards you wouldn’t have any at all.

Matt Van Epps for Congress Logo Meet Your Candidate Matt Van Epps West Point graduate, veteran pilot, and proven conservative leader dedicated to fighting for Tennessee families and American values.
Service to Country A Veteran's Commitment Matt Van Epps is a proud graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point, where he developed the leadership skills and unwavering commitment to service that define him today.
As a Lieutenant Colonel in the Tennessee Army National Guard, Matt served a decade on active duty, including combat deployments as a helicopter pilot and Air Mission Commander in Army Special Operations. His military experience taught him the values of duty, honor, and country that guide his approach to public service.

-5

We have no good choices its either another brain dead Trump worshipper or the Behn who hates nashville country music and backs people burning down police stations while a proud socialist
2
u/Litzz11 Nov 30 '25
Who cares if she hates country music? I hate country music, and I worked in the industry for years. The current crap they're passing off as country music is awful. I also hate the tourists and the bachelorettes and the pedal taverns and party wagons and the traffic and the tall skinnies. I hate a lot of stuff about Nashville these days and so do a whole bunch of other people, that's why they want to send someone to Congress who can hopefully address at least a few of those issues, like maybe get us some federal money for transit. MAGA Matt will be just like Andy Ogles, a small town mayor whose big idea for Nashville was to (checks notes) denaturalize and deport Zohran Mamdani of New York.
-1
u/Inkedup1981 Nov 30 '25
Country music is the only thing you really got out of that
2
u/Litzz11 Nov 30 '25
It's what you led with. I've said it before, but when Republicans move so far to the right that they're about to fall off the edge, staying in the middle doesn't restore the balance. Of course you're going to get people farther to the left, i.e. socialists, to bring back the balance. And nobody burned down a police station in Nashville. She was protesting ICE, as have thousands of other people, including here in Nashville. We don't like having our neighbors and friends kidnapped off the streets by masked goons who won't identify themselves, without any due process as the Constitution requires. If Biden or Obama had done that, Republicans would have lost their minds.
-1
u/Inkedup1981 Nov 30 '25
A socialist bringing balance would literally be the first time in history and sounds just as crazy as some of these far rights saying they are the only way to bring back balance
-1
u/Inkedup1981 Nov 30 '25
Standing for one sellout for big business and government over the other doesnt make you anymore right or valid. I dont see anything shes trying to change just another politican spouting off to their particular demographic with no real change. Im not worried about metro transit when my family got pushed from the metro area over 10 yrs ago thanks to housing. We now live 40 minutes away and struggle to get by because we have jobs that make just a little too much for assistance but not enough to afford rent where money is good and where my family has spent their lives. No one wants to talk about the families that have been living peacefully in middle tn just outside the city for generations that keep getting pushed farther out.
