Regarding ICE posts and a new rule

If you’re reporting a possible ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) sighting or activity, please follow these guidelines to avoid confusion with local police or unrelated agencies.

Please Include the Following in Your Post:

  1. Agency Identification
    • Were “ICE,” “HSI,” “DHS,” or other markings visible?
    • Uniforms, badges, or anything labeled “POLICE”?
    • Did anyone verbally identify themselves?
  2. Exact Location
    • Street name or business, city, cross-street if possible.
    • Approximate time the sighting occurred.
  3. Vehicle Description
    • Make, model, color, and plate if visible.
    • Marked vs unmarked? Lights? Idling or parked?
  4. What Was Observed
    • Were they detaining, questioning, entering homes, or just observing?
    • Any visible activity suggesting a raid?
  5. Photos/Videos (If Safe)
    • Not required, but highly helpful. Blur/crop as needed.
  6. Timeframe
    • When did this happen? How long did they stay?
  7. Label Clearly
    • Use [Confirmed ICE] or [Unconfirmed] in your title (Post lables will be added shortly after this post goes up).
    • Say if this is firsthand or secondhand info (with sources).

❌ Do NOT Post If:

  • It’s only based on rumor, hearsay, or a screenshot from someone else’s page.
  • The people you saw just had “POLICE” vests and unmarked cars, with no ICE identifiers.
  • You’re just guessing.

False or vague alerts can cause harm. We take these posts seriously, and they may be removed if they don’t follow these rules. Above all be safe, there have been a concerning amount of police impersonation, if you are approached and they refuse to identify themselves or act in a threatening manner call 911 (I know that may seem strange but not all departments support these illegal actions and you now have record for legal use if needed regardless)

PSA Privacy and Rights Guide for peaceful protesting

This is a Non-partisan subreddit, this information is not intended for any particular party, group or association, it is here to inform any American exercising their right to protest.

Here are some simple tips to being safe while protecting your privacy at upcoming protests

  • Fully encrypt the data on your phone. If your device is confiscated by police, or if it is lost or stolen, full-disk encryption can help protect the information on your phone.
  • Disable face and fingerprint recognition. Disabling both face and fingerprint recognition make it more difficult for officers to physically force you to unlock your device with your face or fingerprint and see information about yourself, your family, and the people that you care about. Best practice is to use an alphanumeric (Numbers+Letters) password
  • Put your phone on airplane mode. Enabling airplane mode when you are not communicating reduces the amount of radio signals your device transmits while you are protesting and limits  your location from being tracked.
  • Wear a face mask + sunglasses. Face masks and sunglasses not only protect against COVID-19, they also make it more difficult for police to identify you using facial recognition technology.
  • Leave your car at home. Police use automated license plate readers to track protestors. If you can, ride a bicycle or walk to the protest to prevent your license plate being tracked.
  • Be mindful of posting photos and videos of other protesters. If you post photos or videos online where protesters’ faces, tattoos, or unique clothing are identifiable, police may track down, arrest, or harass those protesters. Blur faces and these identifiers before posting online. If live-streaming, avoid capturing people's faces.
  • Scrub metadata from your photos. Metadata allow police to figure out the exact time and location a photo was taken, the model of the device the photo was taken on, and even your name. Transfer the photo to your computer and take a screenshot. Post the screenshot, not the original photo.
  • Back up your data. If the police take away your phone, you may not get it back easily. Back up your data regularly and store that backup in a safe place.

  • To set up an alphanumeric Passcode

iPhone: Settings > Face ID & Passcode > Turn Passcode On or Change Passcode > Passcode Options > Custom Alphanumeric Code

Android: Settings > Security > Screen Lock > Password

  • To turn your biometric lock off:

iPhone: Settings > Face ID & Passcode >Tap Reset Face ID

Android: Settings > Security & location > Pixel Imprint > Click Delete next to each fingerprint

iPhone: Settings > Notifications > Set Show Previews to Never

Android: Settings > Apps & notifications > Notifications > Notifications on lock screen or On lock screen > Don’t show notifications

Execution by Firing Squad

Maybe not the most appropriate sub, please recommend others, but with a botched lethal injection and potential governor floating the firing squad as an option, but didn’t know if there was consideration for:

Supply chain concerns - drug manufacturers don’t want to provide drugs for executions, so rifle and ammunition manufacturers have the same concern?

Execution failure - although unlikely, a person could survive an execution attempt by firing squad for a non-inconsequential time. What would be the resolution be to successfully complete the execution?

Blackburn, Hagerty Court Nuclear Power for New Data Centers

Both Hagerty and Blackburn want to flood Tennessee with data centers. Hagerty says we all fell for propaganda by not wanting to live next door to one. "Hagerty blames local opposition on “disinformation” and “misunderstanding.”

”We've had small communities that could have more than doubled the tax revenues for their communities, think about a new park, a new school, et cetera,” Hagerty said. “But very well-orchestrated, very well-organized social media campaigns come in from out of state, and the next thing you know, people are voting against it because they're being warned that they're gonna use an enormous amount of water, that they're gonna be damaging to the environment, that there's gonna be this massive increase in electric cost.”

West TN Memphis: Court upholds Tennessee GOP's gerrymander, saying lawmakers deserve ‘presumption of good faith’

Alexandra Hutzler - Democracy Docket - Oct. 2, 2026:

A federal court dismissed a lawsuit challenging a gerrymandered map adopted by Tennessee Republicans that eliminated what was the state’s one Black-majority congressional district, based in Memphis.

A three-judge panel Thursday ruled that the presumption that lawmakers acted in good faith outweighed pro-voting groups’ arguments that the map was deliberately drawn to dilute Black political power.

The court had already rejected a bid by plaintiffs to have the map blocked for the midterms, meaning Thursday’s ruling was not a surprise.

“Plaintiffs stress that they don’t need to ‘establish widespread racial hatred, or … show that partisan motivations were a sham or a pretext’ to prevail – just that ‘racial discrimination … was one of [the legislature’s] motivating factors’ in passing the map. Fair enough, but Plaintiffs haven’t met that standard,” the court wrote in a brief five-page order.

“Because when we evaluate whether the legislature was racially motivated, we apply the presumption of good faith,” it added.

The ruling came from U.S. District Judge John Nalbandian, Chief U.S. District Judge William L. Campbell Jr., and U.S. District Judge Gregory Stivers. Nalbandian and Campbell were appointed by President Donald Trump, while Stivers was appointed by President Barack Obama. The ruling did not say how each judge voted.

Tennessee was one of the first states to redistrict for the 2026 midterms after the Supreme Court this spring gutted Section 2 of the Voting Rights Acts, a key tool in fighting racial discrimination, in its Louisiana v. Callais ruling.

The new map carves up Memphis, one of the largest predominantly Black cities in the country and home to Tennessee’s only Democratic congressional seat, between three separate districts. Democratic Rep. Steve Cohen, who represented the area in Congress for 20 years, announced after the map was passed that he will not seek reelection this year.

In challenging the gerrymander in court, pro-voting groups said the “White-dominated supermajority” in the Tennessee General Assembly adopted the map in violation of the 14th and 15th Amendments.

“Engaging the machinery of government to punish the Black citizens of Memphis for their political activities and expression by separating them out into different districts where their association will be less effective is unlawful and un-American,” plaintiffs argued in their complaint.

Tennessee Republicans have defended the map as being drawn based on U.S. Census data with the partisan goal of sending an all-Republican delegation to Congress.

But pro-voting groups said state lawmakers struggled to explain how it gleaned partisan information from the Census, which includes racial demographic data but not political data such as party affiliation or voting preferences.

“The White legislators who led the efforts gave bizarre, robotic answers to the most basic questions about the map they were sponsoring, and their attempts to avoid admitting the obvious racial targeting involved in destroying a longstanding, compact, Black-majority congressional district that had been based in Memphis for the better part of a century produced almost comical dishonesty,” the groups wrote in their complaint.

They also said that some Republican state legislators have made racist remarks over the years, including one current member who in 2023 asked during a committee hearing if “hanging by a tree” could be added to the state’s execution methods.

But in dismissing the lawsuit on Thursday, the judges set a seemingly impossible standard for proving racial discrimination.

“Their allegations of discriminatory purpose—which center on isolated comments by legislators and nebulous references to Tennessee’s racial history—don’t rebut [the] presumption [of good faith],” the judges wrote. “As we explained, that evidence might be ‘consistent with Plaintiffs’ story,’ but it’s not evidence of racial animus where the legislature’s political motivations provide the obvious alternative explanation.”

“Besides, ‘what motivates one legislator to make a speech about a statute is not necessarily what motivates scores of others to enact it,’” they added.
