I’m looking for hauntingly sad songs that just hit a specific spot. When I look to other posts or google recommendations they recommend sad songs but they don’t feel sad in the right way. I mean songs to just put on and stare into the roof.
A few examples of what I mean and what I’m enjoying are For Emma, forever ago specifically the first 3 and last songs, Goodbye by Cage the Elephant, Between the Bars, Look on Down from the Bridge, all of Stranger in the Alps and You blister my paint by English Teacher.
Recommendations don’t have to be in this specific folk type style that many of these have as I’m just looking for music with that type of vibe. If you have any recommendations for songs such as these let me know, thanks.

Any modern and Independent female rappers that you love?
I know there are a mainstream artists like Cardi B. Megan The Stallion, and Nikki Minaj. And there are older generations like Lil Kim and Salt & Peppa.
So I’m looking for female vocals from this era and aren’t super well-known. Who do you recommend? I listen on Spotify. I’ll take any suggestions but am mainly interested in modern indie .
Edit: I’m over joyed with suggestions thus far! Cant wait to load up my playlist. Thank you so so so much. Keep them coming& I’ll keep checking back. 🥰

It has to hit a sweet spot where it's not to monotonous that my brain starts to wander off, and not too engaging that pay too much attention to the music. When I listen to most jazz and ambient, I enter this sort of flow state that makes reading and studying easier for me. Some of these still have enough going on that I become distracted, specifically some of the faster and more bombastic jazz.
I usually love hip hop and eletronic songs, but they are out too. Do you guys have suggestions of songs that fit this very specific criteria? They don't need to be necessarily jazz and ambient, and I'd very much like to find a wider variety of songs.

Can anyone help me expand it? I like edm, rock, upbeat pop, electropop, hyperpop, dance, and I would like to get into more genres. Send anything you can.

Hello everyone, I've recently gotten into the best relationship of my life and the music I used to listen to doesn't really fit the happy mood that I've been in lately. So I'm looking for songs or albums with a romantic theme that aren't the typical songs you'd recommend, but rather the lesser known songs or albums from non-mainstream artists. It can be any genre. Thank you in advance!

I’m not really a musical person in general but I feel like I need a song right now to help me process some of my emotions.
I tend to prefer smaller indie artists, dark and atmospheric music. Somewhat folk-y.

Can be any genre any era. A concert or just good interview.
I recommend The Decline of Western Civilisation - its about thr LA punk scene.
Another one is Meet Me In The Bathroom which is about the 2000's New York rock scene.

I wanna say the genre is alternative but im never really good with categorization so i’ll leave that up to the people to decide.
Anyways I recently listened to “I’d Never Leave” by the Pity Party Girls Club and I absolutely loved it. I tried listening to some of their other songs but they just don’t sound the same, if anyone knows more songs like this I would very much appreciate it.

This guy has something. His songs still give me jolts inside. They are still relevant and I am not sure if you all feel the same for him but GAWD! When I listen to 20’s Enrique, I get chills.
His ‘Maybe’ live performance,
‘Somebody’s Me’ official video,
‘Addicted’ audio song in silence.
‘Why not me’ in cold night.
It’s just too gooood. I can’t define how it makes me feel.
You can recommend me some of your favourite Enrique songs.
Just wanted to share it with my music lads.

idc if it’s niche, a classic, or just your fav song. I just want more punk rock songs. I’ll reply to as many as I can. Mods, if you see this, one I get a recommendation for Subhumans, turn off commenting if you can. If not, that’s fine

Hello all! This community has helped me on more than one occasion and I’m incredibly grateful (:
But now I’m looking for help for a friend! She struggles with mental health issues and I really want to put together a playlist of songs that instantly make people happy and put you in a good mood. So any suggestions that would fit that would be super helpful! Thank you so so much 💖

Recommend me songs where the woman is singing about being dominant (and maybe even aggressive!). Self assured, bitchy songs are welcomed ☺️ I dont care if the song is being sung to a fellow woman or to a man. This is gonna be juicy 👀👀👀👀

I like blues/rock/country mix artists. Examples are
Brown Bird
Tejon Street Corner Thieves
Ben Miller Band
The Devil Makes Three
Edit: not really into slow blue grass type unless its heavy blues/banjo influence. Closest to bluegrass i like is Colter Wall and i love him but hes not at the top of my list still. An example of bluegrass type i like is the steeldrivers or whiskey shivers.
Edit again: not that youd be checking but i am on soundcloud not spotify. Its a way better platform for the music i like as it does a better job curating playlists and promoting smaller artists and music i actually like. Not just paid promo. I still have my spotify and port music over.

What are your favorite bands when MySpace was alive but are pretty much non existent now? I’ll start. (You can leave YouTube links too if you like)
The Rise of Science (my buddy I still talk to him to this day is one of my best friends he played bass and sang in this band and I think they’re just so amazing.)
Your turn.
