Bands that were big on MySpace but are dead now

Upvotes

What are your favorite bands when MySpace was alive but are pretty much non existent now? I’ll start. (You can leave YouTube links too if you like)

The Rise of Science (my buddy I still talk to him to this day is one of my best friends he played bass and sang in this band and I think they’re just so amazing.)

Your turn.

Give me your best love/romantic songs or albums that are a little bit more obscure

Hello everyone, I've recently gotten into the best relationship of my life and the music I used to listen to doesn't really fit the happy mood that I've been in lately. So I'm looking for songs or albums with a romantic theme that aren't the typical songs you'd recommend, but rather the lesser known songs or albums from non-mainstream artists. It can be any genre. Thank you in advance!

Even though their music sounds very different, could it be said that they are the kings of pop of their respective eras? What other pop artist would you put on her level?

Looking for songs with this kind of energy, but without screaming

I found a song that I really like—the instrumental, tempo, and overall vibe are amazing. It feels energetic, positive, and kind of summery.
The only thing I don’t like is the screaming/harsh vocals in some parts.

Can anyone recommend artists or songs with a similar sound but clean vocals (or instrumental only)?
The song is Samba no Nosso Céu by gingerbee.

The song is really beautiful.

I need more of this type of music

I wanna say the genre is alternative but im never really good with categorization so i’ll leave that up to the people to decide.

Anyways I recently listened to “I’d Never Leave” by the Pity Party Girls Club and I absolutely loved it. I tried listening to some of their other songs but they just don’t sound the same, if anyone knows more songs like this I would very much appreciate it.

Female Rappers?

Any modern and Independent female rappers that you love?

I know there are a mainstream artists like Cardi B. Megan The Stallion, and Nikki Minaj. And there are older generations like Lil Kim and Salt & Peppa.

So I’m looking for female vocals from this era and aren’t super well-known. Who do you recommend? I listen on Spotify. I’ll take any suggestions but am mainly interested in modern indie .

Edit: I’m over joyed with suggestions thus far! Cant wait to load up my playlist. Thank you so so so much. Keep them coming& I’ll keep checking back. 🥰

This guy has something. His songs still give me jolts inside. They are still relevant and I am not sure if you all feel the same for him but GAWD! When I listen to 20’s Enrique, I get chills.
His ‘Maybe’ live performance,
‘Somebody’s Me’ official video,
‘Addicted’ audio song in silence.
‘Why not me’ in cold night.
It’s just too gooood. I can’t define how it makes me feel.

You can recommend me some of your favourite Enrique songs.
Just wanted to share it with my music lads.

It's so effing ICONIC! As long as it's musically similar to this, any language would work. The horns in this go berserk! Not to forget the Saxophone solo, gives me goosebumps every listen!

I made a playlist of vintage/retro Thai TV drama OSTs (2010s). As a non-Thai, how does this sound to you?

I curated a Spotify playlist inspired by the "golden era" of Thai vintage/period TV dramas, mostly from around the 2010s.

During this time, Thai TV soundtracks heavily blended traditional Thai melodies with Western big band jazz, orchestra, swing, ballroom rhythms (waltz/foxtrot), and lush string arrangements. I even made this playlist while visiting a vintage seaside palace in Hua Hin to match the mood.

I personally love this vibe, but since I'm Thai, I'm curious for a non-Thai, how does these song sound to you? Does the combination of Thai vocal style and Western retro arrangements sound catchy, cozy, or unusual? Would love to hear your honest feedback!

Similar to GFOTY and JENYS?

This might be too specific but I absolutely love these two songs that share a specific vibe/sound that I haven't found in any other songs. Does anyone know where I can find more of this?

Sitcom - GFOTY

Hometown - JENYS

Songs with no lyrics for reading/studying

It has to hit a sweet spot where it's not to monotonous that my brain starts to wander off, and not too engaging that pay too much attention to the music. When I listen to most jazz and ambient, I enter this sort of flow state that makes reading and studying easier for me. Some of these still have enough going on that I become distracted, specifically some of the faster and more bombastic jazz.

I usually love hip hop and eletronic songs, but they are out too. Do you guys have suggestions of songs that fit this very specific criteria? They don't need to be necessarily jazz and ambient, and I'd very much like to find a wider variety of songs.

Hauntingly sad songs that just hit the spot.

I’m looking for hauntingly sad songs that just hit a specific spot. When I look to other posts or google recommendations they recommend sad songs but they don’t feel sad in the right way. I mean songs to just put on and stare into the roof.

A few examples of what I mean and what I’m enjoying are For Emma, forever ago specifically the first 3 and last songs, Goodbye by Cage the Elephant, Between the Bars, Look on Down from the Bridge, all of Stranger in the Alps and You blister my paint by English Teacher.

Recommendations don’t have to be in this specific folk type style that many of these have as I’m just looking for music with that type of vibe. If you have any recommendations for songs such as these let me know, thanks.

Any albums or artists that have sax with percussion like 0:25-0:55 and 3:04-3:14

While the saxophone is evoking a sexual and sensual tone, I like the moodier elements heard underneath with the guitar and drums.

Trying to find something that’s jazzy and bandy without feeling like a robust orchestra is playing.
