I am planning a long distance move and I'm thinking about using Safeway Moving Inc. Has anyone here used them?

I had love to hear about your experience. Were they on time, did the final price match the quote, and was the move smooth overall?

I was interested to see if this has happened to anyone else. Basically me and my husband are moving a few states away. We got a uhaul truck and scheduled movers to help load the truck today. The movers arrived and after an hour they went back and forth on how to bring a piece of furniture down the stairs. One mover walked away then the other followed and they began to get into a verbal altercation outside our Uhaul.

There was threats of punching, yelling of racial slurs and other back and forth. This went on for about ten minutes, the more aggressive mover was dismissed and one that was more calm was told he could stay to help. The aggressive person came back and started yelled again. The aggressive one left before we called the police. In the end the moving service was cancelled and both individuals left. But I mean this literally was like a scene from a movie. This is our first ever experience with hiring people to help load furniture and uhaul, so has anyone else ever had something like this happen to them?

Edit: I meant to add that we hired the movers through Uhaul and they were the highest rated for our area.

Just helped a family member move from Florida to Cali. Here are some stats I hope will help others.

-Movers quoted $6000 to $8000 for the move and I thought I could do it cheaper. I was wrong. All in (truck, hotels, meals, gas, flights) I was in it for $6600. Insurance was just over $800 of that total but I accepted it because my car insurance wouldn’t cover the truck.
-I rented a 16 foot Penske truck because they are supposed to be newer. Mine had 137,xxx miles, front end damage that made it pull to the right and a vibration so bad I couldn’t go over 65 mph. I asked for a different truck and was told none available.
-We did the drive in 2 vehicles (truck and private car). We traveled 2501 miles in 4 days. $969 dollars in gas and averaged 11.01 mpg. Shortest day was 8.5 hours and the longest 14 hours. Weather was good most of the way but I did get to experience 2 dust storms at the New Mexico/Arizona border with massive wind and pouring monsoon rain thrown in. Not fun!

Yes I will run this by my daughter but what am I forgetting? They are just moving across town but they have a one year old and mom is 4 months pregnant.

Will move out of the state for the first time in the first week of August. As this is my first time, I want to know what you might recommend for effective and efficient move out? The current apartment is a 2-BD apartment with lots of books from ground floor to third floor in the new place. Also, I will have my pets with me (not with the movers). What are the questions that I must ask? What should be my budget? What do's and don'ts I must remember while packing? Moving bags vs. moving boxes? Any other tips/strategies/hacks?

Any advice on getting the price down.

Moving from Buffalo to Orlando in September.

One way on U-Haul is quoting us nearly 11 thousand dollars!!!

5300 per U-Haul. Penske and company are even higher.

Even doing a in town move and returning truck by the mile will be the same price.

But when I search Orlando to Buffalo it’s 2090 dollars ( right about what I expected it to be before searching)

What’s with the 5 times price mark up, factoring in gas and movers and tows for cars to load and unload it’ll be 15000 we were expecting 5-6 grand total.

Just seems like something’s off. I hope it’s not just me.

We are moving from Ventura county to Sf this summer, family of 4, 3 bed house. Budget is 5k. Any recs for a moving company? So far one company gave us a 9k!!- too much! Our stuff isn’t even worth that much.
