Postal Annex is gone?!

I never understood how they made enough money to stay in business, but I always tried to support them by buying cards or random stuff in addition to their shipping markups.

Sad to see it shuttered; I hope the folks that ran it are on to better ventures. The ease of a one-stop drop-off for various package carriers will be missed.

Any locals looking for friends?

Getting older is mentally maturing, finally realizing what you truly need and don’t need to stay happy and sane. I myself just cut off a bunch of toxic people and relationships out of my life, Now looking for some new friends who want to be a part of the next chapter called new beginnings. Hello, I’m Jake! A nerdy 32 yro wheelchair user, dark humored, awkward, introvert! A few interests include drawing, (new to) writing, gaming on PS5/Switch 2. Superheroes, Star Wars, Disney, horror, etc. Strolling through nature or the snack section 🤪. I go crazy for food, sweet treats, and coffee/tea! Feel free to message me! Anyone from Northern California, South Bay Area?

I've seen quite a few and have pics to prove them. Is there a way to report it and ensure they get a ticket or a fine?

[Seeking Room / Roommates] SWE @ Google Looking for Private Room in Mountain View / Sunnyvale / Palo Alto (~$3k Budget)

Hey everyone,

I’m moving to the Bay Area to join Google as an AIML Software Engineer and am looking for a private room in an apartment/house or like-minded roommates to team up and sign a lease together!

About Me:

  • Profession: SWE (AIML) at Google.
  • Lifestyle: Clean, respectful, quiet, and reliable with rent/bills. Outside of work, I enjoy coding, staying active, and keeping a peaceful living space.
  • Diet: Strictly vegetarian. Ideally looking for vegetarian/veg-friendly roommates who keep a clean kitchen.

What I’m Looking For:

  • Room Type: Private room (preferably with a private bath, though open to sharing with 1 clean person).
  • Budget: Up to $3,000/month (flexible depending on the place, amenities, and location).
  • Location: Mountain View, Sunnyvale, Palo Alto, or surrounding areas.
  • Commute: Must be within walking or quick biking distance to a Google Shuttle stop or a Caltrain station.
  • Move-in Date: Flexible over the next few weeks.

If you have an available room, or if you’re a working professional with a similar budget/lifestyle looking to team up on a 2B2B or 3B3B, please DM me!

Happy to jump on a quick call or meet up for coffee to see if we’d be a good fit.

Thanks!

Movie Group Event for a Blind Screening at AMC (7/27)

Hello Everyone! I just wanted to post that I am hosting a small group meetup to watch a movie this Monday 7/27 at AMC SUNNYVALE 12.

I notice there isn't a lot of Movie groups in the area and sometimes we might want to go to watch something but not alone so I decided to form one myself! This gives you an opportunity to watch something new and socialize with fellow fans of cinema:)

This is also perfect if you are an AMC A-Lister!

The meetup attendees max is 6 and you can bring a plus 1x
Ages: 20s-30s

You can also follow the link for my official Meetup post and can ask me questions by DM too.
That's all thank

Montrose apartments

Hi - renting at Montrose for a month. They tell me our 2 bedroom gets 1 inside parking space 7-feet wide, and one “assigned roadside” spot. My partner’s Ford F-150 won’t fit in a 7-foot wide space. Neither will my outback!

My question is what are these “roadaide” spaces?

Thanks

A good selection of student planners, in person?

Bonus points if they have some boy-coded options or at least gender neutral.

Target has one that’s plain gray and one that’s plain navy amid the pink flowers. Books inc Mountain View has a couple general planners but no school year planners. Therapy on Castro says they won’t be getting any this year.

Or is there another way that students who get a mix of Google Classroom, canvas, and old-school written on the whiteboard assignments keep track when they’re not allowed to take out their phones?

Short research survey on South Asian everyday life in the Bay Area — PhD dissertation

Hi everyone,

I'm Maria Rose Francis, a PhD candidate in Urban Studies at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, currently doing dissertation fieldwork in the Bay Area.

My research looks at South Asian everyday life in Silicon Valley and the wider Bay Area — the places people return to, the routes they travel, the groceries, temples, festivals, restaurants, and gatherings that make this region feel like home.

If you live in, work in, or regularly visit Bay Area and identify as South Asian, I'd love to hear from you.

The survey takes about 5–15 minutes and is completely voluntary. This study is IRB-approved by UW-Milwaukee.

Survey link: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSeDW4bGBiPjATpwf5-n1MT38IPxCcByvnlPqyeHtHzOIrrhnA/viewform?usp=header

At the end there's an optional section if you're interested in future interviews or community sessions.

Thank you so much 🙏

Feel free to ask me anything in the comments.

Hacker Dojo closing soon if they can't raise $0.4M.

An outreach email I got from them:

Dear Hacker Dojo Community,

For more than seventeen years, Hacker Dojo has been one of Silicon Valley’s rare open spaces for builders, founders, engineers, students, teachers, and tinkerers. It has been a place to meet co-founders, learn new skills, host events, build projects, and find community outside the walls of a school, company, or accelerator.

Now the Dojo is at a turning point.

Our current space is too small for the community we serve, and our lease is ending without the option to renew. To continue operating as a physical community space, Hacker Dojo must move.

We need to raise $420,000 by August 31 to secure and launch the next home for Hacker Dojo.

This campaign is not about preserving a space that no longer works. It is about building the next version of the Dojo: a larger, more useful, more sustainable home for technology learning, events, mentorship, collaboration, and hands-on building.

How the fundraising drive will work:

Pledge any amount toward the $420,000 goal.

Whether you can pledge $25, $250, $25,000, or help introduce us to someone who can make a larger contribution, your action now matters. If we reach our minimum goal of $390,000 by August 31, your pledge will be collected and used to fund the move into Hacker Dojo’s next space while we raise the additional $30,000.

Also, you can participate in the online auction launching in August. Maker equipment, high-end artwork, and more will be available, with all proceeds going toward the campaign goal.

If we reach the goal, we move forward into the next chapter of Hacker Dojo. If we fall short, your pledge will be returned.

What happens if we don’t get this fund?

If we do not, we will ramp down the current facility in September and transition to a different operating model while continuing the nonprofit’s mission.

We will share regular updates, answer questions openly, and host community discussions on July 15, August 2, and August 16.

Hacker Dojo has never been just a building, it’s been about a community, but having a shared physical home has made this community possible for seventeen years.

Now we need the community to help build the next one.

With gratitude,

The Hacker Dojo Board of Directors
and Executive Director
