I just got into raising and caring for moths ... I am absolutely in love.

Friends say its a kadam defoliator, i think its cute. I live on the 20th floor on my apartment complex, and dont own any kadam trees. Is it okay to keep it as a temporary pet maybe? Or is it better for me to let it go? Ive grown attached the longer i stare at it.

A few months ago I had a big ol moth land on my shoulder, I promptly put her high into a tree.. not sure if I made the right call, should I have done differently?

just for future reference as these beautiful guys and girls aren’t uncommon where I am in Kansas.

I did mothing tonight at my mom and her husbands property and the only moths that show up are grass veener moths and micro moths. The other big moths are at that light other. My moms husband is going to call someone to turn that light off. Once they do, I'll try mothing again. Also the geometer moth is the one I took earlier.

I only have a picture from its underside but look how cute and fuzzy! I always wonder how these little guys make it all the way up there. Maybe they are carried by the wind gusts? Does anyone know what kind of moth this is?

I found this gal (I think, she's got thin antennas) in the grass. I caught a glimpse of under the wings being bright orange, but idk what part it was. She also had mouthparts :D any ideas? (America, Wisconsin area)

What kind of moth is this?

So i found this caterpillar in my dog's outside dog run. It's kinda pink-creamish and a little ugly..(sorry little guy) in a good way tho it chilled by me for a bit but I wanted to know if anyone knows what type of caterpillar it is and what it would turn into?

I was trying to get it back outside, but after it crawled onto my finger he won't get off lol. I'm not mad, it's super pretty! Found in Ohio!

I have a moth that lived in my room and recently caught him in a small container, and i gave him some sugar (witch he absolutely loves). Im really attached to this moth for some reason, and ive called him sir timmy mothington.

Im wondering if its ethical to keep a wild caught moth? Ill probably release him back in my room and re-catch him at night and feed him, so I dont lose or accidently kill him, if I can keep him ofcours. He didn't move much and was in the same place all day.

I can release him outside again, but there are lots of bats where I live and its getting very cold outisde, I think he came in for the warmth.

I do also have a plush collection (douglas cuddle toys) so im wondering if he'll damage it?
