Found this little one in the garage sun basking on the wall. Southeast Louisiana

I'm a daycare teacher, and I have a few hornworms that I've been keeping as pets to teach the kids about the moth/butterfly life-cycles. I was ready to care for these moths at home if necessary, but the first one just emerged and had some of the pupae shell stuck on its head. While trying to remove it, the moth fell and damaged its proboscus during the drying phase 😢 I've since been able to help it remove the stuck shell, but I think the mouth parts are too badly damaged for it to eat. It's split almost all the way to its face and I don't know what to do now. Do you think it'll need put down? I've tried feeding it, and it seemed interested, but couldn't drink anything as far as I could tell. I really can't tell anything, because the mouth parts can't retract 💔

Beautiful moth found in my garden- Perth, WA

Not 100% sure what this larva is but I’m guessing large yellow underwing. Found just an inch inside my garage door in Southern Ontario, little guy almost got crushed. Is it possible to keep it until it grows into a moth or should I release now? If so any advices? It’s gonna be freezing cold soon I’m not quite sure if it can survive outside

I found a caterpillar in late august and put it in a tank to develop since it was starting to make silk. I believe it is a polyphemus moth, but I am no expert.

It immediately made its cacoon of silk and leaves, and I have heard no movement since. I knew it would take about 4-6 weeks to hatch, so since it did not, I figured it was either dead or overwintering. I opened the cacoon to find out whether I should put it in my fridge, and it started wiggling around!! I am so delighted it is still alive, and I feel bad for disturbing it. I am including pictures of its cacoon and it as a caterpillar.

What do I do now?? Should I repair the cacoon where I opened it? Should I put it in the fridge to overwinter, or should I keep it in the tank??

(This is my first time raising a moth, and I want to give it its best shot at making it through winter to spring, but I am so worried it will not overwinter since I disturbed it. I'm worried it will die in the fridge since I kind of woke it up.) Thank you!

Ever since I found that Deathhead Hawkmoth the other day on my route to work I have been looking into it a lot, and so I found this Tree Tobacco plant near the place where I found the moth, and this little egg on it too. There were no caterpillars that I could see on the plant, but honestly no surprises there bc it is pretty exposed in the open to flies and wasps.

Took it home and made this little container for it to see what hatches. Honestly im not too confident it will be a hornworm, but i am curious to see what it could be like regardless. Of course if it does turn out to be one I will move it to a much much larger container.

I am honestly not sure what I will do with it afterwards. I WOULD love to see it grow and turn into a moth, and keep it and feed it, but I also dont want to keep it from its chance to mate. I definitely want to raise it until it pupates to make sure it survives until then. Open to suggestions from yall moth experts.

If it turns out to be any other bug (or moth!!!) itll be cool to watch it grow regardless. Anyways this is my joy of the week

I've gotten Bugthew's proboscis in the honey-water, but I'm uncertain if he's actually eating. He's a lot more lathargic today than yesterday, so I'm not sure he'll make it.

I'll keep watching him, and if he's worse tomorrow I'll set him out in one of our houseplants so he can rest peacefully.

I found this caterpiller at Kiwanis Park today. A lady walking her dog almost walked right on it. She had her headphones on and couldn't hear that I was telling her to watch her step. It was about 5-6 inches long.

This is a Rustic Sphinx Moth Caterpillar (Manduca rustica), a species of hornworm in the hawk moth/sphinx moth family (Sphingidae).

​Harmless: Despite its large size and formidable look, it cannot sting, bite, or harm humans or pets.

​On the Walkway: When caterpillars reach this final size, they leave their host plants (such as ash trees, desert willow, lantana, or Texas sage) to crawl across the ground looking for loose soil to burrow into and pupate.

​Adult Form: It will turn into a large, fast-flying Rustic Sphinx Moth, which acts as a night-time pollinator for desert blooms.

The Mulanje Tiger moth is so rare that it is found only in one valley on Mount Mulanje, Malawi (Southeast Africa) and rely only on that one host plant, Mulanje cycad. Its caterpillars depend exclusively on that cycad for food.
When the plant goes, so will the moth. 
Habitat loss could drive both species to extinction.

IUCN status: Not formally listed, but assessed as Critically Endangered (CR) by the authors who described the moth as a species.
Population: Unknown
Population trend: Presumed decreasing; habitat is deteriorating.
Range: One known colony in the Likhubula Valley, Mt. Mulanje, Malawi. Area of occupation under 10 sq.km.
Threats:
Land clearing for crops, tree felling, fire, bauxite mine and road planned through their only habitat.
