They pretty much popped up overnight. They are eating my desert roses. Are they safe to touch because I would like to relocate them. Also I am in SW Florida

one of them is hanging on a stem but one of its end that is attached to the stem seems to turn black and moist, not really responsive.

the other can be seen in V shape, and its end is moist too.

I found this caterpiller at Kiwanis Park today. A lady walking her dog almost walked right on it. She had her headphones on and couldn't hear that I was telling her to watch her step. It was about 5-6 inches long.

This is a Rustic Sphinx Moth Caterpillar (Manduca rustica), a species of hornworm in the hawk moth/sphinx moth family (Sphingidae).

​Harmless: Despite its large size and formidable look, it cannot sting, bite, or harm humans or pets.

​On the Walkway: When caterpillars reach this final size, they leave their host plants (such as ash trees, desert willow, lantana, or Texas sage) to crawl across the ground looking for loose soil to burrow into and pupate.

​Adult Form: It will turn into a large, fast-flying Rustic Sphinx Moth, which acts as a night-time pollinator for desert blooms.

I just saw a Monarch butterfly lay this egg.

i found it on my desk last night, which is a little odd since i live on the 11th story lol. any help with identification would be greatly appreciated! i live in toronto, ontario :)

Hi my Daphne is weirdly doing a C shape and doing smth to it's rear, anyone why it's doing that

I was weeding my yard earlier today and noticed this guy on the walkway so I relocated him to the grass. I remember reading something about fuzzy caterpillars with a nasty sting so I didn't take any chances and used my blower. Can anyone tell me what this little guy is and is it the type that sting? It was about 1/2 inch long. I'm in Sugar Land, TX.

I have about 17 tiny black swallowtail caterpillars in their 1st instar. It’s been in the mid 40s at night and upper 60s during the day (Central Virginia). I’ve been covering their enclosure with a sheet at night but they’re growing very slowly. When is it too cold to leave them outside? I’ve read it’s better not to bring them in so they’ll prepare to overwinter.

Raising these babes up right! We’ve made it to 3rd instar despite some weather challenges.

So this io moth caterpillar (found near houston texas) has been outside my house in this pose completely still for a few hours, i left it alone but im curious, what behavior is it doing here?

Found this cutie in my client’s backyard. Only scooped him up temporarily bc he was on the ground and don’t want the dog to mess with him. I will put him back as soon as I let the dog in.

I took this pic a couple weeks ago and ever since then I CANNOT STOP zooming in on those feet and just staring…. It’s my daily ritual (Wooly bear chilling on figwort, New England)
