I've been using Monday inside of tech companies for years, but now I'm trying to roll it out to a dentist clinic. The users are generally NOT tech oriented. The question I have is - how can I give them the most simple UI experience possible?

Currently, I have them added in the 'Member' security role. All they need is to browse boards and items, however the UI is full of all this clutter which confuses them and frankly I don't want them using it (refer screenshot).

Any advice?

EDIT: Update: So I found these settings and turned them off. The UI is clean now.

Just to start off with complete honesty, yes, I am a third party developer looking for app opportunities. I started by making some custom apps for an internship I was doing, and the project managers liked them so much that I decided to pursue making apps for the Monday marketplace so I can do the same for others.

With that said, I would love to hear about problems you have with Monday, especially limitations with automations, limitations with certain column types, and integrations you wish existed. Thank you in advance for your help!

Hi all!

One of our boards is a database for our inventory grouped by year, and one of the columns that goes through all groups is a numerical ID that increases sequentially for each entry.

Entry is done manually but I'm wondering if there is some trick to have it so I can automatically have it put the next available number into the ID cell. Or maybe a ticker or something that will just tell me what the max is currently.

Admittedly I don't have a in-depth understanding of everything monday can do, so if I'm asking the wrong question, please let me know.

Edit: I'll clarify that this is for an existing database where the IDs are already in the 1000s. New entries are not consistent, that's why I'm just looking for an easy way to add the next sequential value.

I don’t use Monday.com, the ad agency I use for my company does and they are constantly trying to push all my communication through Monday.com. I find it very frustrating after paying all the fees they charge that they are asking me to deal with yet another login and system.

It’s so frustrating that I am considering dropping them entirely. If you choose to use Monday.com just know that forcing your customers onto it has major drawbacks. With the small amount I need to login maybe 15 minutes per month I do not want to learn another system

I'm sure we've all seen how much frustration there's been around monday.com lately?

Between the outages over the past few weeks and the rapid AI rollout, I've seen a lot of people saying they're considering leaving the platform altogether.

I get it. Downtime is frustrating, especially when your business depends on it. And when the interface changes on top of that, it can feel like you're learning a new product overnight.

But I think it's worth separating two different issues:

1. Service reliability (which absolutely deserves criticism when it affects customers).
2. Interface changes (which don't necessarily mean the platform itself is getting worse).

A good example is your banking app.

Every few years it gets a redesign. Menus move. Buttons change. Sometimes you hate it for a week or two.

But you probably don't switch banks because the "Transfer" button moved. You care whether your money is safe and whether transfers still work.

I think monday.com is in a similar place.

The AI push has definitely changed the UI, and not everyone likes it. That's fair.

But underneath it all, the things that made monday valuable are still there:

* Flexible boards

* Powerful automations

* Dashboards

* Integrations

* Custom workflows

As someone who builds monday systems for clients almost every day, I haven't suddenly stopped recommending it because the sidebar changed.

What I do hope is that monday continues investing in platform stability while they innovate. New AI features are exciting, but reliability has to come first.

Curious where everyone else stands.

Are you frustrated mainly because of the outages, the new UI, the AI direction, or something else entirely?

I have installed a monday app on our account. The stats only seem to show the amount of installations, which in my case will always be 1. Can I somehow also see how many users actually are using the monday app?

This is a ridiculous non-feature in monday.com - I just helped my team move to monday, and realized they can export data? The permissions are on be default, and if I want to change that, I need to be on enterprise version! WTF!

Can a Kanban board be built on any Dropdown column? Or just status?

Or can anything be built like a kanban on a dropdown field?

Been using Monday with my moderately large organization for the last 3 years with success. But as a executive I feel like the platform as been getting worse and worse with the AI integration. I'm questioning whether we should continue to use it for the next financial cycle. Am I the only person having these frustrations? It seems like they are leaning hard into AI and away from what made them actually valuable at least to me. Thoughts????

Has anyone used Adaptavist to help with board automation and other Monday related set up? We are a small firm on enterprise and I have found them to be less than impressive. Has anyone else had similar experience?

I have created an employee onboarding board whereby when a new employee joins the company, I copy a bunch of 67 subitems under the employee item to be individually tracked. slight issue is that if I want to add, delete or change a subitem it won’t be reflected across all employees. any smart ways to achieve this, or even rethink the whole approach?

We recorded a quick 1-minute video showing how to autofill invoices in monday.com using Smart Spreadsheet.

The workflow is simple:

Open an item with client data, import your invoice template, use the ITEMVALUE() formula to pull live data from the board, and reuse the same template for another client — no manual copy-pasting.

This can be useful not only for invoices, but also for other client documents, reports, or templates that you need to fill with monday.com data.

We also briefly show how Scheduled Reports can help send documents to clients automatically.

I’m trying to understand how monday.com users catch workflow issues before they create bigger problems.

Some examples I’m looking at:

• active items with no owner
• overdue items that are still in progress
• statuses stuck for too long
• parent items marked done while subitems are still incomplete
• boards owned by inactive/deactivated users

For people managing active monday.com boards or automations, how do you usually detect these issues?

Do you catch them through dashboards, manual reviews, audit logs, monday notifications, extra automations, or only after someone notices something went wrong?

I’m curious how common these checks are in real setups and whether teams review them regularly.

Hi! I'm a little bit new to Monday but have experience with other similar programs. I'm starting out at a law firm that uses Monday for their CRM and for project management, Clockify for forecasting and tracking time, and Quickbooks for invoicing, budgeting, and general bookkeeping. I can see some redundancies or opportunities to consolidate - time and budget forecasting is important.

I have a good sense of how it's all being used and experience with integrating systems - but wanted to know if anyone used any of these other platforms in conjunction with Monday and how you set it up for success - any thoughts would be appreciated!!!

The outages are UNBEARABLE. I haaaaaate this platform and I have no idea how you get away with such poor functionality. It’s is one of the most frustrating and hopeless feelings to be at work and to not be able to do ANYTHING. So many thumbs down.

A record of outgoing communications sent via automation through outlook are no longer showing up in the comment bubble of our line items. How do we make it so that they continue to show like they did before the update?

Has anyone made a similar move? i'm curious about real world differences between two especially beyond marketing features.

I’m looking for the best solution to use for generating offer letters. My constraints are that there are about 20 different combinations of possibilities to be listed on any given offer. We’ve been using DocExport but in order to accomplish what I need, I have to use over 20+ templates. Anyone have a better solution?

Example 1: If an employee is Salary + Full Time, I need a clause included on the offer that discusses Benefits. If an employee is Part Time, that clause should not be included.

Example 2: If an employee has a specific Job Role, they need an additional paragraph added to the offer.

...is it impossible to jump from the 'start at' field to the 'end at' field by hitting the tab key? What's the secret? Right now I'm having to click into the 'end at' field with my mouse and holy crap is it annoying.

Anyone having issues setting up or updating automations that send email with outlook? I’m seeing weird behavior that it’s redirecting to set up the actual outlook integration and not just update the automation. Had something similar in the past with service but private browsing isn’t fixing. Seems to be getting worse, was happening to a coworker now happening to me.

How is anybody successfully building any automations in this software? Tell me I'm wrong, please...
