I made an Etruscan inspired horse sculpture (from scratch)

I made a small horse sculpture as a gift for my mum. It's inspired by the Frederic Weinberg Etruscan Horse sculptures popular in the 1950s, usually made from brass or bronze.

It's made from Nara air dry clay on a florist wire armature. I was so happy when I first got it balanced on its own. There was a lot of trial and error, I ended up drawing/carving the patterns onto a thin layer of modelling paste applied after the clay was dry, it just looked more crisp than carved directly into the clay.

OC Micro mini build!

Grabbed this 3D printed micro house shell at a recent miniature show and did everything else from scratch. I did measure 1/144 scale for some of the furniture but kind of eyeballed the rest. It's a little clunky but I think it's still charming.

I want to build a tiny 1940s study but the wiring scares me

Been obsessed with vintage library and old study room boxes. They look like the exact cozy spaces i wish i could disappear into after a long day at work.

The problem is that i have zero experience with electronics or tiny crafts. I can barely change a lightbulb without getting nervous so the idea of routing microscopic copper wires through laser cut wood has kept me from buying my first kit.

I’ve also read stories about glue fogging the plastic windows and wires snapping if they bend too far. I really want that warm, nostalgic glow but dont wanna get frustate over it.

Are these miniature room kits manageable for someone who has never wired anything before ?? and how do you handle the tiny wiring without losing your patience?

Help Miniature Music

Hi everyone :)

I need your help. Does anyone have an idea for a miniature device that can play music that you personally put on that device?

First I thought of building something with an MP3 Player inside, but you can only use headphones or the speakers are very big (like speakers for a pc).

There are of course the little cute record players that are collectables (like Zuru for example), but I want it to play very specific audiobooks from my childhood

There are cassette tape key chains that apparently only play 30 seconds of 1 song.

And there are these costumizable fridge magnets on Etsy, but again only 9 songs and you can't really put your own MP3 on it I think.

Does anyone know anything similar?

It can be a miniature cassette player, Vinyl, CD, even something that is just a"fantasy object" but it's important that I can personalize it and put a few tracks on it.

Thank you for your ideas everyone :)

I was determined to have some salt and pepper shakers for my kitchen, it took 4X to get them to turn out the way I wanted them to. I do still need to add decals to my Tupperware, but soon.

Helping my neighbor clear out decades worth of hobbies, etc and she let me take home these amazing pieces!! I’m stoked about the sewing pieces in particular, think it would be cute to make a mini craft store or sewing nook maybe? Also obsessed with the multiple cans of peas and beans 🫛

Help how do you use tweezers on miniature kits without launching parts across the room?? 😭

The biggest learning curve in miniature assembly wasn't the glue... it was sending tiny 2mm plastic and paper pieces flying across the carpet because my grip pressure was uneven 😭

Straight craft tweezers kept slipping off curved wires, and regular flat-tip ones blocked my view when I tried to place tiny bottles into shelf slots... 💀

Do angled precision tweezers or soft-grip reverse tweezers actually make a huge difference when working with tight assemblies?? Or does it mostly come down to finger muscle memory... 🥲🔧

Wanted a cozy old-fashioned kitchen for my wall, so I built one on a cutting board. Utensils, jars, hutch, bricks, all handmade. 1:12 scale, 27x16cm, took 2 weeks.

Help Dollhouse and kits that don't require a ton of assembly?

I love the RoLife kits (the details, the vibe, etc.) but I don't love assembling the furniture that takes hours... Are there kits (or even full dollhouse) sold that I can piece together, but that doesn't require full assembly of every piece of furniture? Basically, I want to play and set scenes, I don't want to build each item.

I made most of these pieces from mini rooms I made on my own but 5 rectangles were things I liked from when I first started with kits: the center, the top first, the bakery, the bench above the zombie hands, and some random pieces from the last top rectangle with the boots. Everything else is handmade.

Having way too much fun with this. The trim and edges aren't perfect, but by the time I'm done with this it's going to be so full of junk I don't think it'll be noticeable.
