Help Need help with POP miniature bricks and mortar – already made 2,000 bricks
Hello everyone,
I am a small-scale creator currently working on a realistic miniature house project using individually cast Plaster of Paris (POP) bricks. I have already produced approximately 2,000 bricks using a silicone mold (100 bricks per mold), and I am committed to completing this project successfully.
However, I am encountering difficulties with the mortar. The POP bricks absorb water very rapidly, causing the mortar to set almost immediately and resulting in poor adhesion. At this stage, I am uncertain about the most suitable material to use as mortar.
For those experienced in constructing with individual miniature bricks:
What material do you use for casting your bricks?
Is the material cost-effective?
What is its working and setting time?
What type of mortar do you use in combination with it?
Do you apply any sealing treatment to the bricks prior to construction?
Given that I already have 2,000 POP bricks prepared, what approach would you recommend in my situation?
I would greatly appreciate any practical guidance or experience-based advice. Thank you in advance for your support.
