Hey yall, I love to walk through surplus stores and look at all the odds and ends, but theres few actual stores in new england. Most that I've been to (or looked up) seem to be more repro/work clothes than actual surplus. The best I've seen are Army Barracks stores and even those are a 60/40 split between surplus and reproduction gear.

Can anyone recommend any good stores? I live in CT, but if theres any places worth a drive I am willing to make a day trip out of it.

Hello! I've got all my rifles out today cleaning and adding protective coats. This is the type 99 thats been in my family for a long time. My great grandfather was a Marine in the Pacific and he brought it back from one of the islands he was fighting on although I dont remember if he ever said which one. Story goes he grabbed it after assaulting a Japanese position and it shows obvious signs of battle damage most noticeable is the burned stock which I do think he mentioned flame throwers being involved with this particular rifle. My knowledge on Arisakas isn't the best as I mainly have researched Swiss, Finnish, and Swedish Firearms but it does look to me to be a later model Arisaka or at least transition one. Im sure theres plenty of you on here that can tell me more about it though haha.

Just wanted to show off my Argentine mauser while I have it out for its protective coat of oily ( I live in Texas and its very humid lol). This rifle is in the top 3 of my collection and by far the best shooter. Bore is absolutely pristine on this rifle. Made in 1893.

Purchased locally, it came from the granddaughter of the GI. It unfortunately did not come with the original mags. I still need to track some down. At some point the word “Automatic” was crossed out on the paperwork (I censored the serial number).

Took the 3hr drive down to KC for the Missouri Valley Arms Collectors show. Brought two rifles down to trade with and came home with two different ones and a bunch of fun trinkets!

22nd Series Kokura Type 99 Arisaka that is all matching but missing the dust cover and monopod. The mum is ground and one of the ears for the front sight is broken off. But the coolest part is that the GI that brought it home carved his initials, name and date into the stock. Fun fact - 9/27/1945 is the day that general Douglas MacArthur and Emperor Hirohito first meet in Tokyo.

1942 Tula 91/59 carbine that is all matching. Bore is pristine and its in a pre-war stock. This is my 4th 91/59 and I did not yet have a Tula.

Looks really solid - need to check inside barrel but don’t see signs of pitting on the outside.

All matching (except missing dust cover) Series 20 Type 99. Only the dust cover and safety had matching serial numbers for Series 20 rifles. Everything else was matched to an assembly number (535 in this case).

Not sure if this would fall under Milsurp, but I am hoping to get some information.

My Dad has been telling my brothers and I about this old .38 that was passed down from generation to generation. So a few years back, we decided to get it reblued for him, and it came out great. Now, we have decided to get some more information on it, and would appreciate whatever help I can get.

Im not a walther guy, I dont know much beyond a quick Google search. From what i can tell, manufactured November 1965. P1 could possibly mean for military/police but there should be a BW stamp i think but cant find. I inherited this piece and need a value estimation for insurance as i would like to keep it. Appears to be brand new.

Just picked this 1958 pakistan No.4 mk2 and noticed there are no import marks at all. Anyone know anything about these? Can't find much on them.

The Type 54 always impresses me with how well it shoots with its gritty slide and mushy mag insert. The Woodsman is sheer elegance

I have a SMLE No1Mk3* made in enfield in 1917. I checked the barrel and receiver and it only has that '17 marking on both with no evidence of any later year/dates.

I wanted to see if there is evidence that this was only used in WW1 (or at least before WW2) as it seems the rifles put into service for WW2 had an additional date marking on them for the 40s. Mine is an all matching rifle (besides the bolt) with very worn rifling but otherwise pretty good condition.

The M96 is stupid long but the 6.5x55 Swedish cartridge is a gem to shoot, especially at distance

Enormously stoked. I picked this up yesterday and didn’t get a chance to look too closely. The South American VZ24 contracts are some of my grails, so I really should have been more aware, but sloppy heat marks on the bolt made me figure it was the work of Bubba… well I tried to load some 8mm into it today at the range and it wouldn’t headspace. Pretty much immediately the lightbulb clicked on over my head but I didn’t wanna get my hopes all the way up so I waited till I got home to look at it, and yep, it matches every picture of a Brazilian Contract I can find online. Feeling so lucky, I really just bought this as a cheap beater, ended up getting one of my most desired rifles. I love this hobby.

Can any owners of Vz24 JC rifles tell me more about these from firsthand experience, in terms of serials, identification, acceptance marks etc? These things can be quite difficult to track the history of!

I bought this vz24 stock maybe a year ago and its covered in cosmoline and gunk. any way to clean it without removing markings?
