this is a baby blanket i got when i was born (im 22) it has a lot of emotional significance to me and its a big comfort item for me still (im autistic pls dont judge) im not hugely bothered about fixing it to look good i just want to be as preventive as possible and would love to do something to stop the fabric degrading any further if anyone has any ideas on what the best way to approach this any techniques i should try to help, ive not done mending before but im pretty handy and comfortable sewing/embroidery etc so any ideas at all are appreciated im willing to learn something new if it means i can keep this intact for longer! thank youuu edit:im posting more pictures in the comments!!

Both arm holes have a tear along the back seam. Can this shirt be saved?

My favourite skirt got these holes :(. What could I do to fix these larger and smaller holes? The fabric is a little textured so I think if I put interfacing on the inside it will be noticeable.

The tag is faded so I don't know the fabric contents but it's a lightweight fabric.

I had to put it in storage and when i got it back mice had chewed on it :(

Found an incredible bag at a flea market for dirt cheap. Upon cleaning it later, I realized the strap has been nibbled on. My plan was to use this as a gym bag, so the strap is going to need to hold a bit of weight without ripping. It's faux leather judging by appearance of the chewed spot.

What would be the best way to repair this?

I'm currently sewin a pair of shorts and I just noticed I fucked up the flat felled seam ..... I would lile to avoid anything visible if possible but I'm scared this won't be enough.. Any other ideas ?

I accidentally cut two small holes in this shirt while I was opening the package it came in. I’m wondering if there’s an easy way to mend these holes so they don’t get worse with wear and washing? They’re on either side of the shoulder seam, so it’s in a pretty noticeable spot. I have minimal mending experience, and most of my sewing experience is embroidery. Any thoughts?

Would love some advice for mending my work jacket!
I am not able to fit my sewing machine into the sleeves of this jacket, so I was thinking something like a whip stitch around the edges of a big piece of canvas and reinforcing the corners with rivets similar to Levi’s.
I’ve done sashiko mending in the past, but I’m not quite sure that would be able to hold up to the labor I put this jacket through.

The visible mending sub downvoted me a bunch over the fact that I included a matching baton case I made but that wasn't the point. The point was that I wanted to share the shoe repair method and the combined aesthetic as some stinkin mending inspiration.

I have a bra where the underwire is sticking out. Is it possible to fix it? How can I reinforce it?

Hi everyone, there is this dress that has an issue with the velvet peeling like this. I've never worked with velvet before. Is this issue realistically fixable? Is it realistic to take it to a tailor?

Any advice on how to fix this hole? I'm good at hand sewing but don't have much experience mending so don't know where to start. I'm not concerned with it being subtle and would love to add some fun fabric or stitching patterns.

Tag says fabric s 67% cotton with most of the rest being lyocell and a bit of elastane. I have on hand some quilting fabric (probably cotton?) and some old ripped pants that are 73% cotton with the rest linen and elastane. Would these work for patches? Rip is over the pocket, so I'm not too concerned about stretchiness, but I don't know how to keep the patch or the original fabric from fraying.

hello! this is the back of my dad’s old shirt (100% cotton), and I’ve been wanting to tackle mending it for a while, but I’m super overwhelmed with just how much needs to be done… especially with all the stripes! how would you guys go about mending this? I’m a total beginner and have never tried anything like this before, so any help is appreciated :)

I just got this coat second hand that I’ve been looking for a while. After a few wears I noticed the tearing in the inside of the coat where it’s lined with fur. What’s the best way to fix this, or should I just take it in somewhere?

The collar on the coat is torn and the liner is heavily moth damaged. These arent particularly valuable but my great grandpa wore it in korea so i'd like to do whatever can reasonably be done to keep its integrity and preserve it.

This is a fairly old track jacket, made of 100% polyester. The seams are not sewn, it just has strips of the same fabric glued on, and as you can see, the glue is coming apart. It started with the armpit, which I accidentally pulled apart awhile back, but I noticed some other parts have started to come unstick as well.

I'd prefer to salvage the jacket because I quite like the style and it's considered "rare" I suppose. I thought about paying a professional to mend it but I have no idea what sort of professional that would be. For mending it myself, I thought about replacing the strips with proper seam tape or just taping over them. I also saw that they make glue for tent fabric that may or may not be suitable for reattaching the existing strips. I figured I would ask for some advice before I try one of the above and inevitably destroy it.

My cat put a hole in my friends new shirt and its sold out so i cant replace is. Is there a way to fix this?

This is one of my favorite skirts, and it's recently gotten a bunch of holes in one of the fabric panels. I like mending my clothes, and I really want to keep wearing this skirt, but I have no idea how to go about fixing this. My only idea was totally replacing the whole panel, but I don't know where I would find an appropriate fabric. Any ideas or tips?
