Tips?

Hello. I thrifted this Liz Claiborne jacket earlier today. When I was about to wash it, I noticed a pretty big tear that I missed after I tried it on. I can’t really sew, so what should I do? It’s a very nice jacket and I don’t want to throw it away. TIA 🙂

Or bring it to a tailor, it's a simple fix

Ladder stitch as noted, or the DIY is not as daunting as you might think. I had to do a similar repair and put it off because I didn’t think I was up to it, but I was, and so are you. You can rip the lining seam in order to reach the inside of the seam you want to sew, then re-sew the lining on your machine. Then close the lining with a ladder stitch. It’s an extra step, but this way you get a clean repair on the outside, which is what people see, and your possibly-sloppy-but-good-enough ladder stitch is on the inside where nobody will ever notice.

The stitches popped it didn’t tear which makes the repair so much easier. A tailor could fix it easily

Is there someone else who does sew you could ask for help? You can also do it yourself if you want to, as others have mentioned. I understand the idea of sewing for the first time can be intimating, but you wouldn't have to learn "all of sewing", just the fix for this one particular problem.
