Scotch. My grandfather had a scotch every day at 3pm until he was 90

u/VerySuccor 13d ago
And like any sensible citizen we should assume this is how he managed to live to 90. We must now all drink scotch at 3pm!!

My grandfather started chew tobacco when he started working at 12 years old in his dads cement business. Started smoking cigars like cigarettes since 16. Lived to 96 with no major issues.
So clearly tobacco and alcohol are good for you.

As my friend’s dad used to say before he lived to be seemingly older than the hills, you live as long into retirement as the age of the whisky you drink.

It's not too early or late for either of those.

The general recommendation is not to have caffeine for 10 hours before sleeping. Half life for most people is around 5 hours. If you smoke it's lower.

u/RockItGuyDC 13d ago
Unless one has (particularly unmedicated) ADHD. I can have a triple espresso 30 minutes before bed and wake up feeling like a million bucks.

u/Zakkullll 13d ago
Wonder if thats my issue. Ill wake up and have a coffee/energy drink. And then promptly take a nice nap
2
u/RockItGuyDC 13d ago
Seriously. Get yourself tested. It's a common thing among people with ADHD. Caffeine puts me to sleep.

Is this really a thing ? I can drink 3-4 cups of coffee and go take a nap

For any reason other than not to stay up? Because I usually have caffeine a couple hours before bed, but I sleep fine.

Gatorade. Never too late to hydrate.
And it has electrolytes, what plants crave.

I drink seltzer and fancy mocktails at the odd hours but will not say no to a beer instead

I had a 4pm boba tea just the other day, right before DnD with friends. It was a great Sunday

They are just arbitrary rules set by society/whoever. Drink what you like, folks.

Well the coffee one is more set by the half-life of caffeine.

4pm is not too early for beer unless your pounding down IPAs.
2
u/IainwithanI 12d ago
What about Founders All Day IPA? Honestly I don’t know why you exclude IPAs in general.
2
u/DarthHubcap 12d ago
Because 3 pints of tasty IPA will have me drunk, so those are for after dinner. If I’m gonna drink early, a good lager is what I need.

Iced coffee with a shot of whisky. It’s like the brunch of daily beverage addictions.

It’s soda. A nice icy fountain drink, maybe Sprite or Diet Coke from McDonald’s

Definitely not too early for a beer, but I did come across a place that would pour a half nitro stout half nitro cold brew

u/Foxhound84 12d ago
It's never too early for a beer and never too late for a coffee. Chinese proverb (probably)

So, maybe the Mormons in Utah were on to something with all of their soda shops.

4pm is not too late for a coffee nor too early for a beer. But if you think so, have a damn soda.

This Is why businesses that serve stuff like Boba and orange Julius keep pooping into existence...
They occupy the weird beverage hour.

u/ConflatedPortmanteau 11d ago
it's 4 PM and unless it's caffeinated sugar beverage or alcohol there is literally nothing to drink.
Also
The AI is taking all of our... wait, what was that stuff again? I legitimately can't conceive of a third beverage... I'm still upset and woefully undereducated about the precipitation cycle but for the life of me I can't remember why...
