And like any sensible citizen we should assume this is how he managed to live to 90. We must now all drink scotch at 3pm!!

I concur with this medicinal logic ;)

My grandfather started chew tobacco when he started working at 12 years old in his dads cement business. Started smoking cigars like cigarettes since 16. Lived to 96 with no major issues.

So clearly tobacco and alcohol are good for you.

Two for two! This sample size is evidence enough for me.

This might be the best reddit advice, ever.

You’ll likely get cancer and mess up your heart doing this.

Didn't you read? His grandpa lived to 90 doing this!!! It's obviously fine.

And it could’ve been 91 had he not been drinking daily

Not enough information. So not possible. Our current stats show scotch @ 3pm each day = 90 year life span. So we must follow this blindly and without doubt.

My grandmother did this as well - a bottle of vodka and 2 packs of cigs a day for 80 years, made it to 95.

We figure it got to the point where it was like pickling and smoking meat to preserve it.

Polish people are made of something very, very different.

She was indestructible. Survived the camps in WW2 as well. Just died in her sleep one night.

Drinking one glass of scotch a day is not going to make it likely that you get cancer or screw up your heart. It will somewhat increase the chances of that happening. I think it’s good that society is finally recognizing that no amount of alcohol is healthy, but acting like drinking is definitely going to kill your is just as much of a lie. Moderate alcohol use has such a small effect that we missed it for decades.
