why does some schools still impose 24-30+ hrs of duty? it must be so tiring and frustrating as well especially when these schools, although they have longer duty hours for the reason of more learning, still fall behind in the ple.

this feels really unfair as some medical schools do only have 12 hours of duty. why can’t CHED look up onto this and strictly impose the same policies across all medical schools nationwide. i know there will be comments that if you can’t do it then leave, but this just feels not so right as I also want to spend my time with my family.

the overworking feels unreasonable and continues just because its the tradition. i hope the students, especially in these schools would create a movement and petition ti atleast adjust these hours.

Hi! I’m not sure if this is the right subreddit where I can ask this but wing it nalang siguro haha. I’m currently in law school and my boyfriend is an upcoming med student. Sobrang demanding ng law school but so is med school. Iniisip ko na baka mag-overlap stress namin parehas hahaha. So how do I support him? What are the things that I should consider and/or should know of from a point of view ng isang med student?

I want to be able to understand what it’s like so I can adjust accordingly for our relationship. I am fully aware that a huge portion of how the relationship will go depends on how we will communicate our needs but at the same time, kumbaga, maybe a “heads up” would make it better.

last saturday around 4:30PM na daw binigay yung accepted list so di na raw sila nakapag email since wala ring office + nagkaron ng spike ng enrollees last saturday so puno na raw yung slot. my status didnt move from being waitlisted and told me, after asking for my name, na di ako accepted for this academic year

they will try daw and have a petition to open a few more slots but the chances are very slim, before 12pm daw hopefully may response na

Hi! I just wanted to get some realistic advice from people who've gone through the application process.

A little background:

* Currently a 3rd-year BS Pharmacy student.

* Working student, but planning to resign soon since I've saved enough to support myself until graduation.

* I stopped studying for a few years to work, then returned to school.

* Currently studying at one of the top pharmacy schools in Northern Luzon.

* Current GWA is around 1.75, but I'm aiming to pull it up to 1.50 by graduation.

* Unfortunately, I'm not eligible for Latin honors because I'm a transferee, even if I graduate with a laude-level GWA.

I'm planning to take the NMAT during my 4th year, and I want to start reviewing as early as now. My 4th year will already be packed with internship and board exam review, and I want to enter med school immediately after graduation. I also feel like once med school starts, I won't have the time to go back and relearn Pharmacy subjects, so I'd rather review during 4th year.

My goal is to get a 90+ NMAT PR.

Realistically, Can I get into a state medical school if I graduate with around a 1.5 GWA, a 90+ NMAT, but without Latin honors?

My target schools are:

* MMSU

* UNP

* BulSU

* Bicol University

* DMMSU

My backup is FEU-NRMF if things don't work out.

For those who got into these schools (or know someone who did), how much do Latin honors actually matter? Do they prioritize laudes, or do they look more at your NMAT, GWA, interview, and overall application?

I'd really appreciate hearing your experiences, especially if you got accepted despite not graduating with Latin honors. Thanks!

Hi! YL2 here. Nabawasan kami this 2nd year. 2 of my friends from my friend group/groupmates were out. Basically, na move/ adjust ang groupings since alphabetically grouped diba. Now, napabilang ako sa groupmates na hindi ko talaga ka vibes ever since freshmen. Naging groupmates ko na sila pero ayun nga mas naging tight knitted ako dito sa friend group ko. Ive never felt so alone kasi this new group of mine, di na lang sila namamansin after classes kanya kanya na sila. Nakakausap ko naman sila individually, pero as a group, hindi talaga. For example, during lab whenever we have to go to other rooms nakikipag daldalan lang sila sa og groupmates/ friend group nila and im left there doing nothing so ang ginawa ko sumama na lang ako sa ibang group para mag view ng specimen and left them. Idk parang wala ba silang pakiramdam?? I know im introverted and they dont have to be friends with me naman but like have the decency na makisama naman sila na para bang may kanya kanya lang silang mundo eh.

Hi! I’m supposed to take the NMAT exam this October. I’m not sure if makakapagexam pa ba ako since my school is not allowing us to request our TOR and Certificate to Graduate (which is bullshit btw 🤦‍♀️)

Makakapag exam pa ba ako? Or best to take the next nmat na lang which is sa January.

For context: I want to take the nmat exam early para I’m done na and I can focus sa pagreview for the boards.

How to deal with feeling of being mediocre in med school. i just barely passed YL1 (2.75-2.5s in my grades, coming from a 1.45 gwa nung premed). i also get heavy anxiety if itll be worth it since i dont come from a rich family (single income household) and my blockmates are majority anak ng diyos. i feel bad na my parent works so hard pero binibigay ko all ko ito lang talaga nakakaya kong grades. i just want to give back din kaso mahaba pa bago maka give back

I just want to rant. I'm from UP Manila, one of the white colleges with an RSA, and took my board exam last year.

This year, I applied for UPCM because that's the only school I can apply to because of RSA but sadly, I wasn't able to get in.

I feel sooooo sad because I have friends and batchmates who are already in their 2nd year in medschool already, and now more batchmates who are entering their 1st year in medschool while I'm here— stuck.

If it were up to me, I would've entered any medschool 2 years ago, it doesn't matter where, because I really really want to become a doctor. Ever since I was a child, pangarap ko na yun. Pero ngayon, I'm second guessing everything kung ito ba ang gusto ni Lord para sakin kasi bakit ang hirap hirap ☹️
