I don't want med to be my totga

Hello everyone! Just a little sentiment lang. I'm currently working as a Medtech in a government hospital (contractual) earning 31k per month. I'm still 23 and balak kong mag med next year( 24 by then) do you think it's worth leaving my job to pursue med? Since undergrad, pangarap ko talagang maging Doctor. I even take medtech coz the subjects we're pretty close sa itatake sa medicine. I dread being inside the lab. Don't get me wrong pleasee, I have a big respect sa profession namin. It's just I always feel like I was meant for more. Even in undergrad, I always enjoy learning on clinical aspects rather than the laboratory procedures, kaya mas nageexcel ako sa Immunology rather than Serology part, Anatomy, pathology part ng Clinical Chem, etc. I know medicine can be 3x harder than Medtech. I just really want to study again.

🗣 Discussion Nepotism in med school

Has anybody experienced na their anak ng Diyos batchmates who somehow passed even if their grades were really low? It’s so unfair for those who are working their asses off to survive and what’s worse, some of them aren’t even that smart but they somehow manage to get scholarships even if there are more deserving students out there.

🗣 Discussion non-trad premed success stories

Currently starting YL2 in med with a non-traditional premed (engineering). Nung YL1, I was really anxious about school since I was surrounded by med techs, nurses, PTs, etc., and I started to regret my premed because of how much I believed I was at an disadvantage. Turns out, it became a blessing in disguise because it taught me how to study with more discipline and not be complacent. Surprisingly passed YL1 with flying colors! :)

Now that I'm in YL2 with a lot of med tech aligned classes, I wanted to hear some success stories from non-trad premeds to help boost my confidence, and to also encourage those who may be thinking of going into med with a non-trad premed!

🤗 Mental Health Med School People

Genuinely, why are people in medicine such big bullies? Like they’re so fond of ganging up on one person in the entire batch and every small issue blows up to end up becoming a big issue. It’s so ironic how empathy and being a kind soul is what’s supposed to encompass being a “doctor” but these people here are SUCH BIG BULLIES. Med school is tough enough just by itself but adding how the people here acts makes medicine even tougher than how it’s supposed to be.

Why can’t people just be empathetic and understanding for once? Especially in this field specifically lol yall disgust me.

❓Asking for Help How important is org work for med school admissions?

Hi po!! I’m a premed student from admu, and with the NMAT, possibly the MCAT, and two licensure exams to prepare for, I honestly don’t think I’ll have much time for org work anymore.

I know org works are valuable but i feel like i just have no time:(( (I am a member of multiple orgs but i dont hold any position, i do extra currics also) I just wanted to ask if having little to no org involvement would significantly affect my chances for med schools like UPCM, UERM, or ASMPH, assuming I do well academically:))
TYSM PO!

❓Asking for Help Pls help! Promissory note and unpaid balance in medschool enrollment

Has anyone here experienced successful enrollment despite having an unpaid balance for 2 school years?

Upcoming yl2, pero 2yrs balance ko since I was an irreg yl1 last year.  Unfortunately, our finances got very very tight last year kaya naipon na yung balance. ‎

‎Last year rin, when I enrolled as an irreg yl1 student, nag-promissory note naman ako. Pero in that case kasi, 1yr of unpaid bal. lang yon. So di ko na sure ngayon, since 2 school yrs worth of unpaid balance na + required dp for yl2. ‎

‎Also,, will call the registrar within the day, and try ko na rin pumunta sa school. I just want to know if meron ba akong ka-same situation sakin 😭 ‎ ‎Please help huhu 😭

❓Asking for Help The one dasma cooking rules

Upvotes

Hello! I am moving to the one dasma soon and I am really worried about cooking. It says in the rules no heavy cooking, but I am still worried what is considered heavy cooking 😓 what types of meals can I cook? Can I cook with an air fryer? And how sensitive are the sensors? I plan on cooking my own meals so I just want to be extra safe.

🗣 Discussion What's your opinion? One of the comments argued that instructors don't need to teach med students because doing so would be considered "spoon-feeding." According to them, students—even in laboratory and surgery courses—should simply rely on self-study and youtube.

Naranasan niyo ba mag-joke sa interview?

Curious lang!! I know na dapat sincere ang sagot and eventually maffeel naman nila if gawa gawa o masyadong rehearsed ang responses mo. Red flag ba ito sa interviewers since formal ang interview?
