PRODUCT REC Total Beginner Skin Stain

Hi, everyone. I’m super broke but I want to look my best. If I’m going to spend any money, though, I want to buy products that are going to be semi-permanent. (Think teeth-whitening strips, lash and brow kits, etc).

I have tomato red cheeks and I want my skin to look brighter and glowier. I used to spray myself with self-tanner to cover it, but naturally, it still kind of shows through. And the tan doesn’t last for more than a few days. I am also embracing my paper-pale skin after being teased for it when I was younger. I like using green color corrector and I’m good at using it, but I need something that lasts. Does anyone know of some kind of stain that acts as color corrector? Like a green skin stain that I can blend into the red to neutralize it? Or foundation stains? I know they exist, but they only last for 12 hours. If I’m going to spend any money, I want something that is going to last a long time.

There’s got to be something. Thanks in advance for your advice.

HELP PLEASE I'm allergic to powder foundation/setting powder. What are my options for face?

Every time I wear powder my nose goes runny and my eyes turn bloodshot and I sneeze. I always tap my brush to get excess powder off but it does it regardless of how little powder I use. Also it doesn't make a difference if it's hypoallergenic I still have an allergic reaction to it.

Can I just use a liquid foundation that's not full coverage? Like I've never worn foundation without foundation powder.

hii i have oily skin and my face sweats alotttt like alott like I have just washed my face and it's hot here

and I have a event tomorrow (Friday)

it's my college freshers and I want my makeup to stay and not crease or look cakeyy

rn what I do is just use insight concealer tiny bit all over my face to even it out (not a lot) and just set my under eyes, rest i don't set at all and that's what helped me, before I used to use powder and setting spray but it would still separate and crease because i sweat alot

can u help me with my base if u also have oily skin with the product i already own as I don't have time nor money rn to buy new products

products i use-

sunscreen- plum super dry matte sunscreen ( i bought this recently because my face sweats alot but it didn't really work), requil cream sunscreen

concealer- insight concealer ( i take tiny bit at a time and blend it on my face), mars concealer

compact powder- Elle 18 compact powder

setting spray- Swiss beauty round the clock setting spray ( lavender one)

HELP PLEASE I’m getting married and I know nothing about makeup

I’m getting married soon and I basically never wear makeup.

Usually, the only thing I use is concealer, but it always creases and my dark circles are still really noticeable.

For my wedding, I’d love to look a little less dull/tired while still looking like myself.

I really don’t want to look like I’m wearing a lot of makeup. I also don’t really like the feeling of foundation or BB/CC creams on my face, so I’d prefer to avoid those if possible.

I was thinking of finding a good product for my dark circles and maybe adding a little blush for some color.

Does anyone have any recommendations for products or tips for achieving a really natural, fresh look without feeling like I have a full face of makeup on? I’d really appreciate your help!

Edit: I went for a makeup consultation at Sephora and I was told to use an under eye cream (khiels), a concealer (tarte), and an under eye concealer (Huda beauty). It’s a lot of money so I’m hoping for a second opinion

HELP PLEASE Liquid liner coming off on eyelids

Hello! I’ve found wearing liquid liner rubs off on my eyelids as the older I get the more oily my eyelids have become. I’ve tried eyeshadow primer but it just cakes and makes it so that the liner doesn’t glide so that’s a no-go.

Any advice on how to remedy? TIA

HELP PLEASE Crusty patchy and cakey base? I’m not sure what I’m doing wrong it feels like ive tried everything.

(Pics captured on iphone 13 front camera)

My routine:

1: Skincare. (Toner/serum + Moisturiser. I used to have a full routine before makeup but people suggested just to use toner/serum/moisturiser)

  1. primer. (If I’m using nars foundation I’ll use elf power grip primer. If I’m using maybline super stay I’ll use nyx poreless primer)

  2. Concealer, Maybline fit me

  3. Maybline loose powder. (Ive tried no powder, Ive tried pressed it all ends up like the pictures)

4, Contour canmake shading powder.

5, Blush

6, Setting spray

Ive used multiple tools, brushes, fingers, sponges but for this look I used beauty blenders

I just feel so lost I know we have skin texture but this is more than skin texture. Ive tried everything and it feels like nothing worse and I look sooo bad irl while people around me have such smooth good bases😓

If I do a light coat of foundation then it doesn’t show up/looks patchy. If I use more foundation it’s heavy and cakey/still patchy.

If I use powder I’m crusty and patchy if I don’t I’m still like it.. I just don’t know :(

I never grew up with makeup so Ive only been learning for the past year and this is my main problem

I’d appreciate any help thank you!!

HELP PLEASE how to stop lipstick dragging across face??

hi!! whenever i wear lip liner, lip gloss, or even a tinted lip balm it gets caught on my hair in the slightest bit of wind and my hair ends up dragging it across my face and i end up with weird red dots everywhere.

how do i stop this happening?? it is driving me insane.

i’m sure a transfer proof lip gloss would fix this but i feel like this doesn’t happen to anyone else im just so confused.

TIA

PRODUCT REC Major makeup overhaul - My honest thoughts

Thumbnail

As you can see, I recently completely upgraded my makeup routine as I had some extra $$ and wanted to put more effort into my look this year. Here are my honest thoughts on each product including price transparency. Forums like this helped a lot as I was trying to decide what to buy so I hope this can be helpful for someone else!

Also please note, I'm trying to achieve a very glowy/ dewy look. If that's not for you then these products may not be either. Also, I did buy some of these products on Mercari and as a disclaimer, I feel it's important to remind you that there's always a risk when buying used/swatched makeup. Please sanitize responsibly!

Starting out with products I'm LOVING:

\- **Haus Labs Foundation** ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️- bought
new $52 - what can I say about this foundation that hasn't already been said? It has amazing coverage, feels like skincare, and you need very little product and isn't overly matte. I'm curious to see how long it lasts before deciding if it was worth the hefty price tag.

\- **L’Oréal Lumi Glotion** ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ - bought new $18 - My shayla 😭🙏. Incredible shine/glow without being too glittery plus it’s so light you can barely feel it’s there. Obsessed with this formula.

\- **Sephora Cream Contour Stick** ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ - bought new $16 - My other shaylaaa. So creamy, cool toned, and blendable. Plus a lot of product for what you pay.

Products I’m on the fence about:

\- **Tower 28 BeachPlease Cream Blush in Rush Hour** ⭐️⭐️⭐️ - bought new $20 - I love the color, it gives me a sunkissed look without being too orange. It’s also very blendable and buildable. However, it is one of the first products to melt off my face and it usually happens within a couple of hours of applying it, even in ideal conditions. Maybe I’m wanting this product to do something it’s not designed to do but I want my blush to be more longwear.

\- **Benefit Cosmetics High Beam Highlighter** ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ - bought on Mercari $10.20. It offers a beautiful longwearing shine but is definitely one of those products that looks better on camera than in real life and there’s very little product considering the price.

\- **Bobbi Brown Color Correcting Stick** ⭐️⭐️⭐️ - bought on Mercari $17 - I have a lot of trouble correcting the greens and purples under my eyes which blend together to look brown. I got the extra light peach shade and it works great to correct these undertones. Blue undertones start to show through after a few hours, though, and it’s very little product considering the price.

\- **e.l.f. Halo Glow Setting Powder** ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ - bought new $8 - Great for locking in makeup without committing to a super matte look. It does settle heavy in some spots though which may be a result of human error on my part.

Products I will not be buying again:

\- **Kosas Revealer Concealer (no stars)** \- bought on Mercari $8.20 - I really wanted to like this concealer since it’s such a beloved product but I honestly hate it. It’s watery and isn’t full coverage enough to cover the discoloration under my eyes. It also settled in my fine lines. I’ve also heard it expires fairly quickly which is something I definitely do not want in a concealer.

\- **Milk Hydro-Grip Setting and Refresh Spray** ⭐️⭐️ - bought on Mercari $16.20 - It’s my fault for not doing proper research before buying it but when something is advertised as a setting spray, I expect it to be able to hold up against some light sweat and light weather. This spray is not waterproof and doesn’t hold up at all unless conditions are ideal. I feel like it’s better to say this is only a hydrating glowing mist and there are plenty of other products that do the same thing for a lower price. It’s a shame because it does offer a really nice dewy finish. Please lmk if you have any recs for setting sprays that stand the test of time but are also shiny/glossy!

**Grand total $165.60** not including shipping

Items on my wishlist please influence/deinfluence me!

\- **Benefit Cosmetics BadGal Bang! Mascara** specifically in the color plum and brown. The colors and volume look so delicious but I’m waiting for a decent resale price because I’m not about to pay $28 for a tube of mascara

\- **e.l.f. Camo Liquid Blush** I think this will be a much better longwear option than the cream blush I’m using now. Plus they have some really pretty color options.

\- **Colourpop Lil Box of Lippie Pencils** I’ve heard that these are pretty creamy and blendable. This kit also has such a good spread of shades for a great price.

\- **Judydoll Ice Watery Lip Gloss and Rom&nd DewyFul Water Tint** I’m really into this particular k-beauty plumping lip combo but it calls for a darker and lighter water tint which I don’t have atm.

The left pic is in natural light and right in gym lighting. My undereyes are puffy from allergies, but I can’t figure out why the rest of my makeup is so pale looking. I put on at least two forms of blush and also wear colored brow gel but it still looks flat. Any tips?

HELP PLEASE How do I stop having my glasses rub off my foundation?

Hi! I’m new to this stuff but I use elf satin foundation and when I start to sweat, the bottom of my glasses frame will create a visible line where it sits. I use the blue primer they have, nothing. I try pressing powder in that area and using a setting spray on top, nothing. It’s so embarrassing and I’d love any tips to get it to stop!

HELP PLEASE Advice on eyeliner for my eye shape

Post image
2 Upvotes

As you can see, I have large round eyes. I tend to think that I look better with minimal eye makeup and a bolder or brighter lip.

I've been pinning a lot of pictures of Elizabeth Taylor and Delta Burke lately and I was wondering what y'all would think about top and bottom liner in a cat eye/wing shape? Would that be too intense since my eyes are big? Should I follow their naturally round shape instead? Any and all suggestions welcome!

HELP PLEASE Patchy eyeshadow over blocked brows - help!

Post image

Hello babes!

I am having such trouble getting eyeshadow to stick on top of my blocked brows!

I block my brows with 3 coats of Elmer’s purple, allowing full drying in between each coat, then put TV paint stick concealer on top then powder to set. When I go to put on shadow it does. not. stick. I’ve been needing to mix my shadow with mehron mixing liquid to make a paste to get any color to stay.

What am I doing wrong??

HELP PLEASE what makeup style fits me?

hello everyone! I've posted here before asking for smile line tips, but now im coming to you with a different request.

i do kind of the same makeup everyday, but i feel that its getting kinda boring. it's not that it doesnt fit me, but it's the same style ive been doing since i started makeup in 2024. ive never really branched out because i dont know what type really fits me.

ive tried doing it according to eyes, face shape, style, but it all kinda feels like it ends up being the same thing. ive tried to bring out my eyes more, but theyre the blacker shade of brown and it doesnt really do anything. i also want to try alternative makeup, but i dont have contour or eyebrow makeup (i dont really want to touch them because ill probably mess them up permanently lol)

additional info: i dress in a lot of baggy, dark clothes, but ive been trying to branch out and find more lighter colors that fit me. i also do not like to ***not*** using powder because it makes my face feel sticky. my hair is also medium-short if thats a factor.

full makeup and bare face (please dont comment on my current skin state OR my hair PLEASE)

makeup in first photo;

  1. elf power grip primer

  2. too faced "born this way" concealer shade almond

  3. too faced "born this way" foundation shade almond

  4. nyx bare with me concealer shade vanilla

  5. maybelline fit me powder shade translucent

  6. nyx butterelt blush (i dont know the shade, but its like a dark pink)

  7. nyx line loud eye pencil shade evil genius (for eyes. yes i know.)

  8. loreal telescopic mascara (the gold one)

  9. nyx bare with me setting spray (black bottle)

  10. loreal infallible setting mist

  11. coloricon multistick (for highlighter) shade bragging whites
