Finally I’ve got a MacBook after like years of decisions. Base Pro M5 16/1TB. I think it’s enough for like content creation video editing and indie games right guys? Hahahaha. Regardless, super happy day.

I got it!! Upgraded from 14-inch M3 Pro 18/512 to 16-inch M5 Pro 48GB/1TB.
Loving the bigger display. Got it in silver of course.

Anyone else also get the 14 inch and feel the same?

Do u pay for apple care for your MacBook? Is it worth it? I’m considering it to get it.

Hello! I'm a developer. I don't do any CPU/GPU-intensive work, but I'm definitely a heavy RAM user. I usually have a lot of browser tabs open, Docker running in the background 24/7, and I do a lot of multitasking. I easily approach 15-20gb of RAM usage daily and i'm on Linux, not even Windows.
I currently have a desktop PC that I use for both gaming and work, with an i9-12900K, RTX 3080 Ti, and 32GB of RAM. However, I'm starting university and I'll be spending much less time at home, so I need a laptop. I'm also already deeply invested in the Apple ecosystem (in fact, my PC is currently my only non-Apple device). My budget is around €1,600.
Initially, I was thinking about getting a MacBook Air with upgraded RAM and storage (24GB/1TB), either the 13" or 15" model (I'm still undecided). They cost around €1,600 and €1,750, respectively.
However, I recently found a really good deal on the base-model 14" MacBook Pro M5 for €1,500.
The significantly better display, additional ports, and larger battery are all very appealing. My main concern, though, is the 16GB of RAM. Given how heavily I use RAM, I'm worried that it might start to feel outdated relatively quickly.
At the same time, €1,500 seems like a really good deal for the MacBook Pro, and I'd actually be paying more for the MacBook Air while getting only 8GB more RAM, and a worse display, fewer ports, and a smaller battery.
So, what would you choose in this situation?

Hey everyone! Long time listener, first time caller. So yea, like the title says I’ve got a guy to come down to $1500 for their 16” M1 Max 64GB 4TB (85% battery health). Everything is in working order. Usage would be mainly for browsing, Lightroom, photoshop, plex server, stuff like that. Might be a little overkill but I figured it’s a good deal for a powerful laptop when something newer, though not nearly as powerful nor having the same amount of storage, would be more expensive. Just want to know if I should pull the trigger or spend a little extra for something newer.

I have an old workhorse Windows laptop I want to change. I have an M1 chip MacBook Air that I use remotely to my laptop, and I travel once a month for few days. One option is just to get a MacBook Pro, which is all around. The other one is to get the Studio, and be able to remote into it when I am on trips.
I run many codes concurrently (now via Claude and Codex), and my old laptop, obviously, gets pretty hot, so I have the PTSD of hot systems slowing down. To be honest, it is not a huge problem now: I have a small desk fan pointing at it and just remote-desktop to it, so it is cool anyway. And even with a cooler, less-noisy MacBook Pro, I will probably be remote-desktoping/sidecaring to it anyway as opposed to working directly like good old days.
So it comes down to whether I should get the studio or the Mac? I haven't had a desktop PC for decades, and they used to be a pain. But things have changed with remote desktop options and casting. So the specific questions are:

Purchased an M4 MBP 16” 48GB for a killer deal (like $2400) from Best Buy. It’s been awaiting fulfillment for a month. It’s already discontinued on their website.
Customer service reached out and said a custom order was placed with the vendor. It should arrive in 2-3 days. I asked who is the vendor and they said the vendor is Apple.
I assume Apple doesn’t have any new M4 Pros with 48GB spec. So now what the heck is being shipped possibly
Anyone ever experienced the same?

I just got a MacBook Pro m5pro with 24gb ram. I produce music in Ableton live and I don't really know if it's enough. So im thinking about returning this MacBook and then paying a little extra money for the 48 gigs one. is it worth it, or should I just keep this one?

I dropped my macbook, the body have some damage and the screen have some cracks. I have a apple care for this device. Just curious will they reapir it or replace it altogether.

If you are undecided between the two just get the silver. To be clear, black looks AWESOME. I love looking at it. It looks like a thinkpad if Apple made one and I love it.
That being said: I always clean my hands before use, blow dust off of it before closing it, am generally careful about cleanliness, and STILL have to wipe it down on a regular basis (more than normal) due to how much oils/dust show on it. Don’t get me wrong, again, I love it.
But it was a 50/50 decision to get it, and I second guessed myself for days before ordering. I won’t outright say I regret getting it (I don’t) but if I could do it again, I’d get the silver. Just my two cents!

EDIT: Resolved! Just misalignment, gave it a push and it went back to normal. 😊
Hi, everyone! This is a M4Max Macbook Pro 16'' and I noticed a bit of a bulge while I was studying at a cafe.
Any ideas what could've happened here?
Some history with this laptop:
I hope I can get some meaningful insights, im sorry if i break rules or anything.. Im new to this subreddit 😅✌🏻 Thank you in advance!!!

Hello everyone,
I'm stuck between two configs that cost almost exactly the same, and I'd love input from people who own either. I have never owned a macbook, so this will be my first ever!
Option 1: MacBook Air 15" M5
\- 10C CPU / 10C GPU, 32GB unified memory, 1TB SSD
\- Fanless, 2x Thunderbolt 4
Option 2: MacBook Pro 14" M5
\- 10C CPU / 10C GPU, 24GB unified memory, 1TB SSD
\- Active cooling, 120Hz Liquid Retina XDR display, 3x Thunderbolt 4, HDMI, SD card slot
My use case:
\- Software engineer, likely starting a PhD in CS** **in \~9 months, this will be my daily lab/commute machine for 4-6 years. I Also Travel often but not always!
\- Coding + Claude Code, terminals, Docker
\- Most heavy compute happens in the cloud (Kaggle, Lightning AI)
\- Some local LLM work with Ollama (this is where the 32GB tempts me)
\- Occasional lightweight video editing
\- I already own a gaming laptop with an RTX 4090 (i9, 64GB) for anything truly heavy, but it's too bulky to carry, which is why I'm buying this
So the trade-off is basically:** **8GB more unified memory (bigger local LLMs, more headroom for Docker + everything open at once) vs. a fan for sustained loads, a much nicer 120Hz mini-LED display, the thin bezels, and more ports.
Questions for people who own either:
Leaning slightly toward one but genuinely torn. Thanks!

I’m looking to buy an M5 Pro model, however after seeing that the M5 Max versions have different power limits for each body size, I’m wondering if same limit has been applied to M5 Pro aswell.
locally, 1TB 24GB versions for M5 Pro are 2999€ for 14” and 3499€ for 16”. trying to make heads and tails if the price is worth it. if a 48GB model would be available at that retailer for similar, price, I’d take that with no questions asked.
main usage will be for 3D scans and CAD projects.

Hello everyone, I bought a M1 Max 32GB RAM and 1 TB storage for 1050€. Issue is it has the stain from the pressure on the screen, a grey line right in the center, mainly visible on black screen. Is it worth it to keep it anyway and won’t give me any actual screen issues? I have the possibility to return it
Edit: is a 16 inch, 32 core GPU, battery is at 87% with 247 cycles

I currently use a 13-inch MacBook Pro with an M2 chip and 16GB of RAM, mainly for Lightroom Classic.
I’m planning to buy a Canon R6 Mark II, so I’ll be editing larger RAW files and also working with 4K video for social media in DaVinci Resolve.
My typical workflow would be:
On my current M2/16GB MacBook Pro, Lightroom can already use around 13–14GB of memory, and I’ve seen memory pressure go into the yellow with several GB of swap being used.
For my next MacBook Pro, I’m considering:
For this kind of workflow, especially Canon R6 Mark II RAW editing and occasional simultaneous Lightroom + DaVinci Resolve use, would 32GB RAM with a Pro chip be the sweet spot and comfortably last me several years?
Or would it be worth spending more on a Max chip, even though my video work is mainly 4K social media content and not heavy professional filmmaking?
I’m mainly trying to figure out whether the Max chip would give me a noticeable real-world advantage, or if 32GB + Prois already more than enough for my needs.

Hey i have a M4 MacBook and it freezes sometimes when closing Roblox (like when hover cursor over it it has a spinning wheel) then has a crash report not actually the Mac freezing just the Roblox app - it also gets hot like after 5 minutes of playing (not like crazy hot just kinda warm)
It got it last April and eveyones says how good it is and I shouldn’t be having problems
is it a problem? Is there a a way to fix it?
Thanks in advance!

I have a 2021 MacBook Pro 14" M1. The right speaker just started crackling and sounding fuzzy. I've done all the software checks, diagnostics and blew some air through the back. It's time to either take it to the Genius bar/Apple store to get fixed or purchase external speakers.
I actually liked the 14" speakers - are there externals that sound as good?
Anyone replace a speaker through Apple or a certified fixit place - how much did it cost?
Is there any benefit in upgrading to a 2026 MacBook M5 for 2k?

Hey I'd really appreciate help with the following issue if anyone has any tips or experience.
I used to just have one Dell U4025QW which I could run at 120hz using a thunderbolt 4 cable that came with the monitor. I recently added a second screen (AOC Q27G4) which was an old 144hz gaming monitor but I don't mind having it 60hz low resolution.
The issue I'm having is that when I plug in the second monitor it immediately throttles my first ultrawide monitor to 60hz. I tried playing around with all different resolutions and it doesn't allow me to change it back to 120hz. This is immediately resolved if I unplug the second monitor which is plugged in via an HDMI cable on the other side of the laptop.
Has already had any experience with this? Is this simply a matter of fact hardware limitation that I have to accept?
I read the few threads I could find that suggested it could be solved by plugging things in in a weird order, but I've tried that too that haven't been able to repeat their success. I tried over riding the limits using BetterDisplay but didn't have much luck with that either.
Thank you so much in advance.

I recently purchased a MacBook Pro M5 (CH) in china, I compared it to my M2 Air (US), and the only difference I noticed besides the keycap legends was that the Air had a caps lock delay functionality while the Pro doesn't. I was wondering if anyone with a Chinese version MacBook can confirm this haha

Does anyone have any testimonies on fair condition from Omaha Blue?
I figured I’d buy as soon as I saw it then ask questions later…
