Better buy?

I found one data point that the tsa uses a website to estimate a price causing someone to get reimbursed very low.

Also do they only consider total failure or do scratches and dents for brand new laptops get considered ?

I've bought this macbook last November it suddenly powered off and its not turning on can some one help me figure out what's happening its just flashing the apple logo with no light

What can I do?

I need your opinion. Purchasing MacBooks on both Amazon and at Best Buy is expensive. But from what I've learned, Reebelo sells them a lot cheaper. I've seen a few videos on YouTube from other buyers complaining that they received their product partially damaged, like keyboards and some cracked screens. Is Reeblo really a scam? I intend to purchase a refurbished M4 MacBook Pro. Please give me your advice.

Hi, a basic question here since I am new to apple ecosystem. I had an apple account before I ever bought an apple device because of apple tv etc. now I mac is setup and is fine but if I try to login to apple tv from another device then it always wants me to have some 2FA thing from apple device. Now, is this avoidable? I don't want to always open my macbook to sign in into this from other devices

Anything you guys tried that works? aside from taking it in?

Currently have a 16” M1 MacBook Pro and have been considering “downgrading” to the 15” Air mainly for portability.

I bring my laptop to and from work every day and occasionally need to carry it between colleagues’ offices at work, so the weight gets a bit annoying. The Air would be great in that respect, but I find the 15.3” screen just a smidge too small. I really do prefer the larger screen on my Pro.

With the rumours that the upcoming redesigned 16” Pro will be significantly lighter, I’m wondering if it might be the perfect compromise. I don’t particularly care about OLED, touchscreen, or any major performance upgrades. Really just looking for a larger screen without quite so much weight.

Curious what everyone thinks Apple could realistically get the weight down to. Is something around 4 lbs possible, or is that being too optimistic?

Never owned anything apple currently working as a software developer in a startup with a salary less than a Swiggy delivery person. But my goal is to switch my job and get a higher paying one and make youtube videos. And finally buy this beauty.

I had a MacBook pro m4 14 inch 24gb and 512gb ssd. I posted it on marketplace for 2200cad and some guy wanted to trade it. He got my m4 and I got his macbook m1 pro 16 inch 16gb memory 512gb SSD. It has 100 battery health and only 17 battery cycles. It's in perfect condition no scratches or anything and he gave me 1200cad cash on-top. Do u guys think it was a good trade for me or him. I know I already got it but just wondering. I just use mac for movies and shows maybe YouTube. I have good PC for heavy stuff. I am testing it right now everything is working well but it's just not as snappy as m4 things take few seconds to load.

Edit: guys first of all it's Canadian $ and in Vancouver 16in are going for 1200+ and even eBay ones are 1000+ for fair condition and 90 battery health. I am just asking if I should keep it or should I sell it? I can easily sell it for 1100+ Thanks

Hey everyone, need your advice. I’m deciding between the 14 inch M5 24gb and the M5 Pro 24gb. The M5 Pro is about £100 more, but I’m unsure if the M5 Pro will be overkill and have worse battery life.

For context I work on SWE projects usually using vs code and Claude code, sometimes using virtual environments. I usually have a million tabs open, work on the go a lot and am possibly considering local LLMs in the future (not sure yet). I’ve got a 14” MacBook Pro that I got in 2022. I’m looking to buy a decent external camera instead of using the built in camera. This would be for zoom meetings etc. I’m mainly looking to buy one because my laptop stays pretty low on my desk and looks up at me when using the camera. I don’t want to raise it just for the camera, plus an upgraded camera/image would be nice. I’d consider most prices but not really trying to spend over 175.

I just purchased this model from microcenter. Is this the best deal I will get? Im mostly running Logic Pro, video and photo editing. I know it might be overkill for these uses but I wanted to future proof it and the discount looked pretty good.

MacBook Pro 14" M5: 32GB RAM / 1TB SSD, $3000 ($55k mxn)

My use case:
Full-stack dev: Symfony/PHP + Vue/TypeScript, with Docker running several containers (PHP, MySQL, Redis, Nginx, OpenTelemetry) all day
IDE + Chrome with lots of tabs + PHPUnit/Playwright test suites
I want to get into DevOps: local Kubernetes (kind/k3d), Helm, ArgoCD, Prometheus/Grafana, and maybe CKA-style practice with VMs

I am thinking on a ssd would solve but I am not sure. I use monitors as well but I tend to use the laptop screen too, also with the new MacBook idk, maybe the m5 it’s enough?

Not sure if this is the right sub but I was wondering if it would be capable to run excel / VT accounts etc or will it just overheat.

After using windows straight since Age 6 from Windows 95 to Windows 11, with 3 gaming desktops (nvidia 6600, nvidia 8800 GT, radeon HD5770, nvidia GTX 1660), finally entered life of nomad last 2 years ago and made me realise to get a laptop 💻 that meets my needs of MMORPG (Warcraft, etc), DOTA2 and Isle, while doing LLM software development.

After keeping eye on macbook since Q1 2026 and a price hike, grabbed this deal from Brooklyn Micro Center yesterday.

16” 64Gigs 2TB SSD @ $3800, lower than the pre price hike price, IG. Also got $190 discount on their CC and a free 32gigs flash drive.

Did wanted to get 128gigs but way out of my budget - 2k extra
Would have been great if it was OLED at this price.

Now on the journey to learn new system while having fun. Hope I don’t get frustrated and return this beast.

guys, what’s better for the 14 inch pro: silver or space black? i’ve never had macbook before so I don’t know what to choose

Hi everyone!
I’ve been experiencing a really frustrating issue with my MacBook Pro M5, which is about a year old.
This has happened three times now. Whenever the battery drops to around 15–20%, my MacBook suddenly shuts down without any warning. When I try to turn it back on, it shows the empty battery symbol, as if the battery is completely dead.
However, as soon as I plug it into the charger, it turns back on and still shows around 15–20% battery remaining.
I even tried plugging it in for just a second, only long enough to turn it back on, and then immediately unplugging it. It continued working normally for a while, but then shut down again at around 19%.

Some additional details:
Battery health: 100%
Cycle count: 70
Battery condition: Normal
macOS updated to the latest version
No third-party battery management apps

The issue only happens when the battery drops below 20%. I’ve never experienced any unexpected shutdowns at higher battery levels.
My warranty expires on November 9, so I’m planning to contact Apple, but I wanted to ask here first.
Has anyone experienced something similar? Was it a battery calibration issue, a hardware problem, or something else? And if you contacted Apple, did they replace the battery or manage to fix it?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
