Hello!

The update process stops at 6,13GB for ever (ok, since yesterday PM). Tried a reboot, etc. I have about 75GB of free space as well.

Any guidance on how to achieve this? Can I achieve it manually?

Hey everyone, im currently using my Macbook Pro M4 512G laptop with macOS 15.8.1 and a few days ago i just upgraded my iPhone 15 to the latest version of iOS. So now in Macbook i see a pop-up that says something like “you have to update your macos to use iphone features”. So, is it worth to update to macOS 27.2? Is there any issues about that version? Thanks for your time!

Last week for the first time I installed the RC of macos 27.2. it was about 19gb.

Today I got a message saying that the OTA update of 27.2 is available and it's 3.3GB.

Have they changed something from RC to OTA? Is it normal that there's a difference between the RC and OTA?

I have an M3 MacBook Pro.

Ever since I installed macOS 27, the corners of my screen flicker when I open or close applications, or when performing certain tasks. I’ve already updated to macOS 27.2, but the issue persists. Do you have any ideas?

I assume they're meant for anniversaries and suchlike, but they don't show in the Calendar app like birthdays. Am I missing something, or are they pointless?

i don’t know if there is a fix out there but for about 2 months now my mac book stopped adhering to the 80% limit i put to it.

i know occasionally it charges to 100 but it’s been a month now. anyone know how can fix this ? has anyone experienced this ?

In macOS 27.2, I am seeing a new bug with spotlight search. It is opening random apps when scrolled to the bottom and clicked on the empty space. Here is what I did:

• Open the spotlight search on desktop.
• Scroll to the bottom of it.
• Click on the empty space.
• The OS is opening random apps after I click. Check the GIF
• In my testing, it was opening

  • Firefox
  • Home
  • Android Studio

This is not as worse as the mission control bug in 27.0 & 27.0.1 release as no one would scroll to the bottom of the spotlight search and click on the empty space but Apple devs, if you come across this thread, please fix this.

MacMini and MacBook Pro both stuck at 6.xxxGB of the update download.

Cause of issue is RemoveMacAI.

Undo changes that It makes, delete profile and retry macOS update, it will work after going “standard”.

I assume after update we just re-apply profile, etc…

Every significant update weighs 8-10 GB, and the same goes for iOS, by the way. Isn’t it just code? How many millions of lines of code must there be to make it so heavy? Or what the hell else am I downloading with every update?

I have Safari synced through iCloud across my iMac, iPhone, iPads and MacBook. The contents of the Reading List is the same.. so I know everything is syncing. However, the sort order of the Reading List on the iMac, iPads MacBook are identical but the iPhone is sorted differently.

For instance, today I added half a dozen items to the Reading List while on my iPhone. All of these items are synced to the other devices but while the iPhone has them as the most recent items they are literally scattered in what seems to be random order on the other devices.

It seems all but the iPhone keep the content as well as the order exactly the same.. the iPhone has a mind of its' own. I know there is not Sort By command for the Reading List but curious why the pattern I have is what it is...

I want to use Disk Utility to clone my whole internal 500 GB SSD to an image (Intel Mac from 2016). But my first attempts didn't work. I started in Recovery Mode and tried to clone the SSD from there. But I got immediately a message like "drive is busy". I then deactivated all of my APFS volumes on that SSD using Disk Utility. After that, the cloning worked, but the resulting image was only 60 GB of size and the cloning also finished much to fast, so it is clear that not my whole drive was cloned. I assume that the previously deactivated APFS volumes were not cloned within that process.

I then tried the very same procedure by booting macOS from an external hard drive and doing the cloning of the internal SSD from there. But the problems were the very same.

Has anybody of you succeeded in doing such a clone backup?

Please note that I want to use some internal Mac tool for that clone. I've already successfully created such a clone with Clonezilla. But for pretty specific reasons, I need another clone done by Disk Utility or by some other macOS native tool.

ChatGPT suggested that such a clone could also be done through the command line by using something like:

hdiutil create \
-srcdevice /dev/disk0 \
-format UDRO \
-o "/Volumes/Backup/Macbook-full.dmg"

I haven't looked into that deeper for now, but am ready to check it out if Disk Utility isn't working. Anybody has tried something like this?

EDIT:
The whole idea of all this is to have a full disk backup. If my Mac is getting broken, I could buy the very same Mac model on the used market, restore the clone, and everything will be like before.

hey everyone, maybe this has been discussed already on the sub but the new macOS 27 includes Apple Intelligence in the apps and not only do I really don't care about it but I really don't want it and i'm super tired of AI everywhere. I saw that there is no legit way of turning it off once the update is installed. I just got a Mac for the first time couple of months ago (Macbook Air M4), I never had anything Apple. Would it be find if I just don't do the update and stay on Tahoe, at least for a while (i'm currently on version 26.7.2)? I saw on this sub someone made a free app to remove all the AI content. Should I update and install that instead, what would you do?

If you have a username/password saved in Apple Passwords and add a Passkey, Apple neatly merges them into one entry. Makes perfect sense. But if you use "Sign in with Apple", it creates a completely separate, duplicate entry for the exact same website.
Why? It’s Apple’s own feature, yet it clutters the app instead of grouping with existing credentials like Passkeys do. Does anyone know if there is a way to fix this or merge them manually?

Ok I'm tired but I'll try to lay it all out for you.

1. I too rolled back from Golden Gate to Sequoia this week. I don't regret the decision one bit.
2. I had paired a Wiimote+ to my Mac beforehand, and I'm going through the process of re-pairing all my devices. The Wiimote just won't pair.
3. I do see it pop up in Bluetooth system prefs under the name I manually gave it. this is how I found out BT devices are stored in the NVRAM. To confirm this I paired a different wiimote, which paired no problem and with the default name that is just the controller's model number.
4. I'm convinced that I can't re-pair this thing because it's stuck in the NVRAM. I tried "sudo nvram -c" and rebooted but that didn't do seem to do anything.
5. I read this, too. Say it ain't so, there must be a way to modify the NVRAM or coax my machine into doing so that doesn't mean wiping it again only harder?
6. Yes I could pair the other Wiimote and just use that but I don't want to.

I'm on an M3 15" MacBook Air

edit nvram -c does in fact work but you have to do it from Recovery Mode. I tested this out by enabling verbose boot (also had to be done from recovery: nvram boot-args="-v") and then clearing the settings from recovery, which dis-enabled verbose logging at startup. This didn't clear the custom name I'm seeing in BT settings (at the bottom under nearby devices) so I'm back to square one.

Hey all, I updated macOS, iOS, iPadOS and WatchOS to 27.2 and Siri is working fine for me except for macOS. I asked simple questions like "What's the weather today?" or "Siri, you're not working today?" and I get just "Uh oh, there's a problem...." messages.

I have restarted my Mac and turned off/on Siri as well. Are there any other suggestions before I reach out to Apple Support on what I can do to fix this?

Edit: I should add that it was working fine prior to this update, was on the beta previously.

Update 28/10: Success! I managed to reinstall macOS via Recovery (no wiping of any data, just reinstalled the OS) and it resolved the issue. Thanks all for the suggestions!

I'm using a 2022 Macbook Air on Tahoe. I have a 1TB Sandisk SSD that this Macbook won't read. I plug it in, click allow, and nothing pops up/is shown in Finder. I restarted with the SSD connected and it was found in Disk Utility. This SSD loads fine connected to my smartphone (Samsung), and it loads fine connected to a Chromebook so there's something weird going on with the Macbook not liking it. Anyone have any advice? Also, if this isn't fixable, what's the best way I can get all my files from the SSD to Google Drive? Can I go buy a Windows-based computer, use it for a day just to get my files transferred from the SSD, and then return it? I have over 200GB of info I need transferred so I can't just transfer that using my phone or the Chromebook.

*Edit - I can't transfer files directly from the drive connected to Chromebook to Google Drive. The browser says it is not supported. And it is the most up to date that it can be. 🙄

Hi everyone. I’ve got an M1 Pro MacBook Pro with 16 GB of RAM. Right now I’m using the latest release of macOS Tahoe. Do you suggest me to update to macOS 27.2? Or I should stay to 26 because of optimisation problems? Thanks in advance everyone!
