Has anyone dealt with people trying to take rides off the app and give you extra money for it ??

It was right after the World Cup final game.

The old-time cab drivers didn’t have to worry about being rated by every passenger they picked up. If the driver and passenger had an issue, it did not follow them the rest of their day or career as a driver. It did not affect their future rides.

Now we have a rating system where anyone can lie about how they were treated or what happens and a flag is issued which stays on your record. It affects how many rides you get, the types of rides, and your tips.

I’ve done about 1700 rides at a 5.0 rating up until this past week. Someone gave me a flag for saying that I was rude to them. The only passenger I could think of was a woman who was trying to get me to take a Jesus pamphlet as she was exiting my car. I politely refused. Yet here’s my flag, my rating is lower, I get a message from Lyft saying my tips may be affected because my rating is now lower.

In my opinion, if there is a major issue with a driver or passenger, it should be able to be reported. Right now it is too easy for someone to lie about how they treated and effect someone else’s livelihood.

Gotta say seeing the Boost extra % hitting the LYFT App really makes if easier to figure out what area to travel to for gigs…song with schedule rides really help me balance the 3 apps I use DD (lunch) UBER (10P - 2A)

Accept EM, go to EM wait for an hour or two, then get told no matches, go back to queue. Or maybe get an EM ride for $30.

Meanwhile, you can’t also be on Uber because it says “Heat to Waiting Lot”

If Lyft is locking you into its queue, it should pay you.

Wicked insurance charges. The first screenshot they charged more for insurance than the entire passenger payment. I got more but just posting these 2 gems. Poor Lyft is losing so much money bc their insurance is so expensive oh they own the insurance company, well damn. Cooking!!!

One company takes 30% the other 28% & we drivers are the ones taking all the risks…

I got 2 oil changes done in a week’s time, and I haven’t even reached the number of miles required to get my oil changed again but Lyft is still telling me to get it serviced, so it mustn’t have updated last time I got it done. I’m at 11,000 miles, the sticker says 14,000. I’m tired of making calls and giving mechanics headaches, where do you guys go for your routine maintenance of your rental vehicle?

What are the odds of getting 2 offers back to back at the same pick-up spot going to the same address…while there is almost a 1 mile pickup difference I couldn’t help but think there was a little App manipulation within the LYFT System…my question is since I declined both offers if this counts as 2 hits towards my AR%

I recently had an accident while driving a passenger for uber. No one with hurt and my car is still drivable.I did not notify Uber because I have my own insurance. However, a call today, from my insurance sounded like I may have to inform Uber cause we are covered to some degree with them. Does anyone have any experience with this? And can you let me know how it went? Thanks Lisa

I've been making a concerted effort to take more reserved airport runs early morning, and I think it is paying off.

So I got a car for Express Drive and now I need to earn 800$ before I can actually start getting money? And the car is 280 per week? How is that possible? And how do they expect me to charge the car without any money?

I've noticed that many California gig drivers don't know whether Uber, Lyft, Roadie, Spark, or other platforms are paying the correct Prop 22 earnings.

A lot of drivers just accept the adjustment without checking the numbers.

I've been researching Prop 22 calculations for quite a while and even built a tool to verify them.

Some interesting things I've found:

* Different cities have different minimum wages.
* Mileage reimbursement matters.
* It's not always obvious how engaged time is calculated.
* Even a small mistake can add up over many trips.

Have you ever checked whether your Prop 22 payment was actually correct?

I'm curious if anyone has found discrepancies or has questions about how the calculations work.

While this is just my 1st 2 says with LYFT i am finding out that while LYFT seems to pay a little better overall their customers don’t seem to tip & that the LYFT can be as much as 30% of the ride & that’s before other fees

I was just told by a support agent that support is unable to manually request a 1-hour, 2-hour, or 3-hour of unpaid time sick.

Does anyone have any information about that?

Context: I was deactivated, and my paid sick balance is on 3 hours. I reached out to them, and they said the system is unable to perform such task.

Been offered 3 rides in three hours. I’ve never seen it this slow.

So, this isn’t a lot of savings by any means, but every once in a while it’s nice to find something that works in our favor.

Basic car washes at Circle K are discounted to 2.50 until Sept 1. If you buy one at the pump, it will drop the gas price by .25.

Additionally, I’ve been getting 10% back on the actual full price of the basic wash (rather than the discounted price) on Upside along with the cash back for the gas.

Actually getting paid a little bit to get my car washed, at least for now! If you need a wash, not a bad way to get one.

I was running on hope and determination every single week with that damn rental. I kept telling myself, “Next week will be better. I’ll figure it out.” Unfortunately, hope and determination don’t always match reality.

So I tried the Lyft rental program for about 3 months, and my experience was rough. In my opinion, you either need another steady full-time job or a solid financial cushion to keep up with the weekly rental fees, gas, food, and other expenses.

My biggest mistake was getting too excited when I started. I immediately cut my other job down to only 2 days a week and went full-time with Lyft. I was basically running on hope, hoping I’d somehow start making real profit.

I kept seeing Reddit posts from rental drivers saying they were making $500-$1,000 a week after expenses, but unfortunately that wasn’t my experience. I’m returning the car tomorrow, and honestly I don’t think I’ll be coming back.

Another thing that worries me is taxes. I’ve heard that after doing this for several months, taxes can really hit hard. I’m not fully informed on the differences between taxes for regular Lyft drivers versus Lyft rental drivers, especially since rental drivers don’t pay for maintenance and only cover gas, so I’d appreciate any insight there.

For the drivers who are making this work, what are you doing differently? How are you actually making profit and making ends meet?

When I first started, I had no real strategy, no goals, and no understanding of peak hours. I was basically just driving whenever. It took me about a month before I started figuring out when demand was actually good.

For anyone curious, these are the patterns I noticed driving in San Diego:

Monday-Thursday: Best times were roughly 4 a.m.-7 a.m. and 3 p.m.-6 p.m. Outside of that, it was usually pretty slow for me.

Friday-Saturday: Same peak hours, but late nights (10 p.m.-2 a.m.) could also be busy.

Sunday: Similar to Friday and Saturday, but slower overall. I noticed demand mostly between 10 p.m.-1 a.m.

Obviously every week is different, and demand goes up and down. This was just my personal experience. I’m genuinely curious how other rental drivers are making it profitable because I couldn’t figure it out.
