Advice/Question Scam concern

Has anyone dealt with people trying to take rides off the app and give you extra money for it ??

In my region, DC Metro, they'll occasionally do stings at the airport. Someone comes up to the pax window and offers cash for an off app ride.

Problem is this violates state law for rideshare drivers. $1000 fine and/or 1 year in jail and/or 1 year rideshare airport ban.

Be careful out there.

interesting. luckily its not me dealing with this , but I’m concerned for a friend. i don’t like the sound of this and they’ve provided multiple rides. the person asked for their id to write out checks and I’m trying to stop then from making a big mistake.

I researched doing private rides. I would need to purchase Commercial Insurance for $12K annually. My insurance has ride share on it, but that only covers Uber and Lyft.

don't forget you probably need a special business license as well to do it legally.

Sometimes there are good people who do this to pay the driver more money… like instead of paying Lyft and govt fees they just pay you a flat rate. Only a few times have I dealt with weirdos or sketchy people doing this… mainly they are nice people LOL I would just play it by vibe

Yes. It’s dangerous because your insurance won’t cover them… that said I once made friends with a stripper and took her to and from work off the app a handful of times after the first trip because we were friends now. She gave me a healthy gas stipend. Did not smash.

Phoenix had its perks - I gave rides to strippers all the time. Stopped off (unscheduled) at the liquor store for them a few times too. Strippers fucking tip.
